A NOT So Simple Platformer

Archive: 10 posts

You start of with 1150 points, aand have to get to the end of the level without dieing to much. This level start easy and gradually increases in Difficulty. Dont try this level if you rage VERY easily otherwise give it a go and try for a high score! I would like any Feedback that would be helpful, and Thanks! in advance.

Awesome Dude! This is very challenging like a tomb raider puzzle.
Pros
-Awesome concept. Gives the game a new score challenge. I like that idea.
-Everything is neat and in place. Grid is used.
-Challenging enough even for me. I love hard stuff.
-Hints are given throughout the level. Seems to be very useful at times.
Cons
-Starting at Box 5 the timing of the top bricks is far too fast and you dont have enough time to jump from one brick to another. I suggest a recalibration of a least a half a second after the next block spawns.
-Box 5 (again) add a checkpoint at the top. Starting over from the middle is a *********.
-Starting point. The sponge at the top could be a little more visible. I was unaware it was there for a while until I scanned the box.

Well I got all the way to stage 5 without over frustrating and raging at the TV, which is great, as its challenging but not to the point you don't want to continue, great checkpoint distribution. BUT, in stage five, in the upper level the blocks timing is a bit too extreme. Found that if your try to jump early, the block won't be emitted as you take the block space up. Then If you jump when it appears, you don't have the time to fall and jump to the next one. Maybe you could try that the first block pops in place instead of falling in place.

Lol I ended being a master in timing the appearing ground in the lower level of stage 5, as I had to repeat a lot because the upper level.

Hello there!

I played this earlier today, I thought it was a great challenge, not too hard, not frustrating either, people are complaining about the last part on level 5, I thought that was one of the easiest parts :o
Overall the level looks very nice and plays very nice too : )

I only have one thing that I think you should change, which is the sponge in the first level, I dindn't see it, so I was trying to pull the lever by jumping directly onto it, which I did, but took me like 10 minutes, when I saw the sponge afterwards, I was MAD xD

I think you should make more of these, I will be looking forward! :b

If you can check my level out and leave me feedback:

I had an opportunity to play this level recently and left a comment praising it. It's nice to see that it has a thread here as well. The difficulty level is very satisfying. The fifth challenge is really about learning to jump so that you don't block the emitters. It's a neat twist on a more conventional "get across before the platform is gone" routine.

The fire-on-glass bit was questionable from a design perspective. The other parts of the fourth challenge are more about tactical fire bouncing than canceling momentum on a slippery surface. It almost seems like there should be a fire bouncing hazard, a slippery hazard, and then a fire bouncing slippery hazard to tie them together. Having the combination thrown into the middle seems a bit random. Still, the fourth room is enjoyable enough that I couldn't complain about it.

Thanks for providing a solid challenge, I hope to see more of these in the future!

The first time I played this, I thought wow what a bad level, because i didn't see the sponge stuff in the roof. I tried to swing over to the two-way switch, but that didn't work, so I quit. Now that I've read that there actually is spongy stuff in the roof, I tried again, and this time I managed to get past the first room. I cleared it this time, and hearted it. I don't really have anything to criticize about this level. It is what it is. You should however make the sponge in the roof in the first part stand out a bit more. I got a real sense of fulfilment after clearing this level, that's a good thing.

EDIT: BTW, rate my level as well! That would be much appreciated.
