Playing Again, and Lovin' it

Archive: 17 posts

Yesterday, I was messing around in LBP 2 with some advanced logic that was making my brain hurt....BAD.

So I took a break to play with one of my friends, a few moments later later. (after a fair amount of lag, that is) We were playing a level with Controllinators, Bounce Pads, Creatinators etc. With sackbots everywhere, it was awesome.

But truth is, it made me miss the Good Old days.

Don't you remember? Using dark matter in your logic? Back when we used to use Pistons for something, when you just emmited a new object to make it look like you can move stuff through layers?

You know! The Little Big Planet 1 days!

I miss those days, heck I spent a summer with that game! (sad isn't it?) Interestingly enough, I'm spending THIS summer with the ladder.

Back to the story, me and my friend were sitting in my pod when I came up with a crazy idea.

"Let's Play LBP1 DAWG!" (yes that's how we kids talk these days)

Silence......

"Um......Please? XD"

"Finee....."

""

A few minutes later......

Loading....Loading....Done.

I have to say here, lag time is down 200% probably due to the lack of players on the LBP1 Server (quick question, is it a separate server or what?)

Anyway, me and my friend were back in my pod and after looking at some of the LBP1 Exclusive Community Levels (some of rtm's levels for example) We decided to hit Story mode.

Because yes, like many others, I was far from 100% complete in Story mode.

So we hit The Gardens. (yea I hadn't aced the garden, sue me XD)

We went into the second level, where I was missing ONE Bubble. Yea, just one.

We searched, and searched, and searched. Until we were at the brink of a Rage Quit.

Then I found it at the dumbest place ever.

Behind the Queen o.0

Sad ain't it? Yea.

So after laughing for half an hour we go do some more levels and find a bunnch of stuff in the bunker.....yes I realize I'm not the most observant person on earth .

So moral of the story.......um. Buy a Subaru, or you hate your children.

LPB1 is a good game, but I never bothered with it until after buying LBP2. It just didn't have enough on its own to attract me. Having bought LBP2, I found gameplay in LBP1 really wonderful. When I lost all my save data (after 100% for both games!) I played through again and enjoyed it just as much. LBP1 is a good story game, but a lousy creator one. LBP2 is where it's at for creation. In this sense, I really don't miss the first game. Especially since ALL of its content can be brought to the new game!

I'm hoping for a deluxe edition that puts all the story levels of LBP1 and LBP2 onto a single disk, but with LBP2 create tools. I predict this will come shortly after LBP for PS Vita is released, unifying al content for all games (except LBP for PSP) into one big thingie.

Incidentally if you're still trying to get LBP1 collectibles, hit me up online. I'm always happy to do that stuff.

Yea, LBP1 was a good game, it had a certain "feel" to it unlike LBP2 does now.2011-07-25 15:29:00

I loved LBP, but I quit up until a year ago. It has a more natural feel than LBP2 does. I've done everything in story, but haven't even played my bonus levels. I agree with arbie, it's impaired in creating when compared with LBP2. But it's an awesome platformer and I'd never give it away. 2011-07-31 13:46:00

Just yesterday, valmassoi, cory_(*insert numbers here*) and I were playing a little bit of LBP1 for fun and it really was a blast. The nostalgia just felt right 2011-08-01 15:30:00

In my opinion, the creation aspect of LBP1 pales in comparison to LBP2, but it just has an overwhelming sense of charm about it. The story characters that were made using the same tools as the players had were far better than the sackbots used in LBP2 in my opinion. Maybe it was the fact that it was possible to create characters that were just as good as the story characters if you had the inspiration, while in LBP2 you are (quite understandably) constrained to costume pieces.
I also think that the levels had more style, with the innovative use of stickers and logic that you could actually see doing it's job around you. LBP2 just lacks this charm and style, somehow. I still love them both though!

I go back occasionally to LBP1 to make objects I can't in LBP2, like theck/thack. I prefer the pod in LBP1 and how much faster the popit opens but the electronics are so powerful in the sequel I'm not sure I could go back to creating in the first game.2011-08-02 00:06:00

the thing is, lbp2 isn't another game, its an updated program! technicly if you really want to do anything that lbp1 could do, you can, not to mention you CAN play lbp 1 levels from lbp 2 shocking! in my oppinion the only things that changed were the cummunity and a slight graphics boost. and obviasly the new tools, but then thats like saying, that the paintanator is bad or that water isn't nostalgic, the point is, i played lbp1 form the day it came out, and it had a good run, but, theres no way in heck ill ever want to go back from lbp 22011-08-02 09:16:00

I find it funny that all who had lbp1 bought the potc pack just for water and now that's included in lbp2 free of charge, the water....2011-08-06 23:33:00

I've only played a few times since LBP2 was released, but that's not to say I don't still <3 LBP1.

I wish Mm would port the story over though. I loved LBP1's story levels (not so much for the actual "story"), and I keep thinking how good they'd look in LBP2. Heck, if Mm were to properly port them over (just go though and make sure they're perfect in LBP2) I'd probably be willing to pay for them.

Yeah, I wish everything from LBP1 was accessible from LBP2, story, levels, etc. It is kind of a pain to have to switch games, especially when every time I switch my profile may become corrupted *shakes fist at bugs*.2011-08-16 06:03:00

Ohh yes. Don't I know this bug all too well (now that is). I got in my first month, and I was so depressed because I hadn't used the backup feature...I mean I didn't get a WHOLE lot done in that space of time but, I HAD worked a whole lot on a level I ported over from LBP1, mostly making it playable in LBP2. Well after my profile corrupted I had to start it over again from the LBP1 back-up, not to mention re-doing the story etc. Not fun times :[

Suffice to say, anytime I play LBP1 then play LBP2, and I get that sweet innocent piece of text 'Would you like to import you objects from LBP1? ' I'm like 'Just wait there while I go get my hammer and smash you to pieces you little ****!'

I spent all day replaying LBP1 to catch the bubbles I had lost when my PS3 died. I love all the areas and all the levels. The feeling of nostalgia every time I went through an area and remembered how hard some bits were to complete at the first time back in 2008, it's just great. Now being seasoned in the art of controlling a sackperson, I breezed through everything of course, now only the co-op sections are to be completed. I'd definitely recommend to everybody who owns LBP1 and hasn't played it much since LBP2 launched replaying the whole story mode. It has a handmade and cultural feeling LBP2 doesn't have much.

This isn't something I needed to do as I had completed the story mode of LBP1 100% long before my PS3 died, and all the bubbles from both games were still in my LBP2 profile safely copied into a few flash drives. I had managed to save my LBP2 profile but didn't think it was necessary saving LBP1's. Then when my new PS3 arrived I bought the MGS and PoTC DLC, and I went to play it on LBP1 because of the trophies. Only then did I notice all my LBP1 progress was gone. I just couldn't leave it like that. I had plenty of wonderful moments with it and I just felt I had to complete it again. We owe this game that much

LBP 1's create mode certainly wasn't terrible. In fact, if you worked at it, you could make amazing things. It's just that the logic in LBP 1 is mechanical whereas in LBP 2 it's electronic.

I went back to speed run LBP 1 (cuz I was bored) and I agree. It has a certain charm to it. I feel like the difference between playing LBP 1 and playing LBP 2 is like the difference between playing outside and playing some crazy, advanced video game. Both are fun, but in different ways.

I agree with everyone talking about the nostalgia...
even the songs..they're just..soothing ye know?
They remind me of simpleness, especcialy the gardens and dojo, they also make me remember the first time i played the game I don't go back to it too often...
they should put the story of both onto one disc..with special cross over levels!
On another note..anyone heard about MM's upcpming Game?
