What would happen if...

a game controlled your life? Not in a addicted mentally way. Let me elabourate; I was reading this month's Reader's Digest which my mum has a subscription to and there was a little paragraph about gaming in a section called "In the Future". And it fascinated me, anyway, here it is, curious to know your opinions.

By 2015, your home could be incorporated into game play (lighting levels adjusted to reflect game events, for example). It could also herald a new set of penalties: fail this game task and you'll trigger a donation to charity from your electronic wallet. Or your microwave won't work again until tomorrow.

The microwave bit is utter BS, but the monetary transactions I could see working. The only way I see this theoretically being worth doing is in FPS games; say, in a clan match the losing team gives ?5-?10 each to the other team. This would compel me to be less "It's the taking part which matters." and more "Die *****!". Or in public matches, you gain 1p per kill and lose 1p per death. But if you're really crap in skill level you'll constantly be broke. I feel it could be a fantastic option, but making it mandatory would just take all the fun out of MP gaming. But what do you think?

I think I'd be left with an empty wallet after a week of matches but I can see how this system could be implemented in online tourneys and such.2011-07-23 23:48:00

Why would we want our consoles to have the ability to do that? Not to mention the damage hackers and viruses can then do. If you want to donate money and place bids, well then you can already do that yourself .2011-07-24 01:02:00
