In/Out movement with extra layers?

Archive: 6 posts

I just wanted to know if we can use the in/out movement chip on an object placed in the extra layers (glitch). I mean, I'm pretty sure I saw some top-down levels doing this (the make.believe level for example).2011-07-22 08:17:00

I believe you can use In/Out Movers to move objects towards the playable layers, but not away from them.2011-07-22 14:12:00

I think that if you attach a piece of holo onto the in/out object that reached into the front glitched layers you could have the holo push it back in. Since the holo would be moving closer to the normal layers, I don't think the game would notice.2011-07-22 16:18:00

This is weird. Ok, so I used a piece of cardboard, with a Selector outputting to 5 different In/Out Movement chips, and by simply changing the selector's state I could figure out what function would trigger what (if any) movement. I even used a piece of holo that's "inside" the object like Zero said (both glued and not). At one point, I could pull the object towards the player (from the front layers to the playable are). I deleted the cardboard and copied the logic to a different cardboard. It doesn't work anymore... I don't know what it's missing here, but I'll try to do more experiments.2011-07-22 18:18:00

Like I said, you can't use an In/Out Mover to move objects INTO the glitched layers, but I think you can use them to move an object OUT of the glitched layers.2011-07-22 18:33:00

I heard you. But my problem was that I couldn't even get the object to move anywhere. I can now, but the glitch is very inconsistent and it's not possible to move the object away from the playable area. Shame... anyway, thanks for the replies.
