more then 3 layer platforming?

In levels I've seen sackbots go on layers beyond the normal 3? Is it possible to somehow make a system using sackbots to create platforming on more then 3 layers? via emitters maybe? | 2011-07-21 22:56:00 Author: DarrienEven Posts: 217 |
In levels I've seen sackbots go on layers beyond the normal 3? Is it possible to somehow make a system using sackbots to create platforming on more then 3 layers? via emitters maybe? Well Sackbots (and Sackboys) can only move in a regular fashion on the 3 normal thick layers... What you can do though is to use In/Out Movers I saw a tech demo (forgot who made it sorry) during the beta with 5 playable layers. The level would detect on which layer you currently were and also detect when you changed layer. Upon layer change, the game would move the layer you switched to either forward or backwards to always make you stay in the middle layer. When your sackperson was located on the backmost layer, there would be one regular layer in front of you (the normal front layer), and 3 extra glitched layers in front of that. If you moved the entire way to the frontmost layer, there would now be one regular layer behind you (the regular back layer), and 3 extra glitched background layers. (If this doesn't make sense, I will happily make a drawing for you ) The tech would potentially be confined if there was more than 1 player in the level, but this would just force all players to stay relatively close to each other layer-wise as well | 2011-07-22 13:05:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
AFAIK, it is impossible to control a Sackbot outside the 3 playable layers, and I don't think you can force something into the 3D layers with an In/Out Mover, but it might be possible to use Movers on objects in the 3D layers, as long as they don't collide with other 3D layer objects. | 2011-07-22 14:08:00 Author: Holguin86 Posts: 875 |
Isn't that the 50-layer glitch??? | 2011-07-22 16:05:00 Author: zzmorg82 Posts: 948 |
Isn't that the 50-layer glitch??? You can't move around in the extra layers | 2011-07-22 16:13:00 Author: Zero10100 Posts: 385 |
Well, sackboy can't move around in the 3D layers but other objects can (as long as they don't collide with anything else in the 3D layers). I'm not sure, however, if something like an Advanced Mover would function properly in the 3D layers though. | 2011-07-22 17:35:00 Author: Holguin86 Posts: 875 |
You can potentially create the illusion of extra layers, using sublayers. I've just made tutorial level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=60305-Mock-Thock Maybe this will give you some ideas for working within the normal layers, if you can't get Sackbots to do what you want with the 3D glitch. | 2011-07-24 19:21:00 Author: Pookachoo Posts: 838 |
