Call of Duty Multiplayer [Project]

Archive: 37 posts

I am currently working on a large project. It is called CoD: Multiplayer. I have currently completed the beginning menus, which turned out pretty awesome (I'll post snaps when I get the chance). The menu alone used 50% of the thermometre, and I have estimated that the entire project will be made up of 19 levels linked together.

Even though I am not a huge fan of the Call of Duty series, I thought this would end up becoming pretty popular, due to the games popularity itself. The setup closely follows that of the game itself. The Menu is planned out as follows:

Opening Menu: Mode - Network - Map

Mode: Team Deathmatch - Domination - Capture the Flag
Network: Local - Online
Map: Desert - Factory - Jungle

This poses the reason for the large amount of levels needed to finish the project:

Level: 1 - Main Menus
2 - Team Deathmatch - Local - Desert
3 - Team Deathmatch - Local - Factory
4 - Team Deathmatch - Local - Jungle
5 - Team Deathmatch - Online - Desert
6 - Team Deathmatch - Online - Factory
7 - Team Deathmatch - Online - Jungle
8 - Domination - Local - Desert
9 - Domination - Local - Factory
10 - Domination - Local - Jungle
11 - Domination - Online - Desert
12 - Domination - Online - Factory
13 - Domination - Online - Jungle
14 - Capture the Flag - Local - Desert
15 - Capture the Flag - Local - Factory
16 - Capture the Flag - Local - Jungle
17 - Capture the Flag - Online - Desert
18 - Capture the Flag - Online - Factory
19 - Capture the Flag - Online - Jungle

Nooow, the reason Online and Local can't share the same level is because the local levels will be small, using only one camera, which will contain each player on the screen at once. While the Online maps will be veerrry large, since online versus levels allow each player to have their own indivual cameras. This will add intensity to the Online games since you will not know where your opponents are. Now I am thinking to save up my own level space, to post the Level containing the Main Menu on my Psn, and to just create a seperate Psn and post the other 18 as sub levels, and link to them from the Menu Level on my Account. My current progress includes having finished all of the local maps, and the entire Menu (10 levels in total). Also, I have completed the character selection:

Kevin - A young, clean-cut African soldier orriginating from Congo, Africa
Marasu - A cliche Japanese soldier. (The name Marasu means "victory" in Japan)
Demetri - An intimidating middle-aged russian soldier (Fur hat and all!)
Gordon - An American veteran; comes with the eyepatch and scars

Just now, I finished the Sackbot Checkpoint system. Though I have not actually chosen the method in which the sackbots will fight (and even when I decide, I still have to find out how to make it happen).

Anyways, I have never actually published a creation, though I have thourough knowledge of LBP2 logic. I'd really like to make this happen, so I need to make sure I have som help for when I hit obstacles. So if anyone has a lot of experience in creating, and is willing to help me in case I run into problems, your help would be much appreciated, and you will be credited once it is ready to publish.

Any questions, just post them and I will answer ASAP
Also, if you are willing to help, leave your PSN here and I will contact you on PS3

Note: Even if you know nothing about Logic or Creating, your help would still be useful, as I need people to test the Online play, and I have no friends who even play this game.

Hard enough for me to make my own MMORPG for Final Fantasy XI Online with menu systems, battle systems, Citys, Enemys and what not

Just for CoD levels hmmmm.. shouldnt take you that long.

Top-down or using sackbots?

You may be interested in the level I'm putting together. It's based on CoD. Top-down online multiplayer shooter. I've posted a demo, but will be adding several new things within the next few days. I'd be glad to lend a hand, or perhaps we could even merge these projects. I've got everything but maps and menus and it sounds like you've got maps and menus, but little else.

Just send a FR with LBP in the message. I'd like to see what you've done, and could show you what I've put together as well.

EDIT: Noticed that you referred to sackbots, so gameplay wouldn't match, but the offer still stands. I'm curious what you've made so far.

Sorry people been gone for the weekend, haven't made much progress. But I'd like to do a bit of planning before I start. Zombies may be a nice update once Ive finished the multplayer, but I'd have to put thoughht and work into it, not another dress every sackbot the same, set to follow, and light on fire kind of thing. Deffinitely a possibility, but only if the original concept gets popular. I'd hate to put so much work into something people aren't playing. Also, I had to trash a few maps after coming to a realization that made me feel dumb, the fact that I had added swimming factors to maps when sackbots could not go in water.

Also, help would be greatly appreciated. I had wanted it to be sackbots in a wide open map, especially since I had learned that in online versus, each player has an individual camera. So I will need some help for one thing though. I still havent created the method of combat. Guns, yeah I know, but I wanted realistic guns instead of hologram-spinning ones, and I wanted the gun NOT to be a paintilator. Please, any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, if someone is willing to pick up a map that has yet to be made, you would be credited and will save me a hell of a lot of time. But I get that if you volunteer, its to help me but I need some quality designing if your going to help. Not to sound like a jerk

Anyways, been wrapped up lately, been at my trailer, and as far as LBP goes, been designing music for a Zelda project that someone else is working on.
Apologies if I slack in the next bit.

same as jgsstl. would love to help. i can make guns and give them to you. i am a true expert on making carryable guns. maybe both jgsstl can provide guns. except i will have to give my guns to you via copiable level. i will give you a lockbox code when i finish the guns. just tell me what and how to make the guns via profile message or this thread post and i will follow your orders.

EDIT: Instead of holographic weapons i make weapons out of decorations. trust me it'll look great! If you check out my carryable gun levels then you wil see. Just click on my creations under my avatar. i have both resistance 2 (queue both of them) levels with a LBPC thread and lbp.me link within both of them.

I'm just going to warn you to be careful who you invite to work on the project. If you take them to create mode, make sure you can trust them not to steal any of your stuff.

I'm working on a project using sackbots and modern weaponry (M4A1, M240, MP5K, Barret .50 Cal) and am just working on the finishing touches, but when I'm done I'd be happy to help especially with testing.

Ah yes, make sure it isn't a H4H guy. Talk about days of screaming out of frustration and anger because someone stole your stuff...

wait... are you saying im not trustworthy? just kidding! I'm defenitly not piece of H4H trash.

Wow you guys are great, I'll add you both, any help is greatly appreciated. Ill give credits to you all as well. Guns were my real weakspot for this Project (Im actually best at music sequencing, which is useless for the project). Also, all my connections are modular (wireless) so if anyone were to try and steal it, it wouldnt work for them, not that I feel I need to worry about that in The first place.2011-07-27 01:13:00

Though Ive been working out some stuff Im willing to give away. Ive made myself a sackbot which you can control using the best method, hologram follower (perfectly compatible with the sackbot checkpoint, but if multiple sackbots are being used at once, tags must be changed to be different. Also, if the sackbots costume is changed, the change must also be made to the emitter which emits a new sackbot at the curerntly activated checkpoint), and a completely wireless sackbot checkpoint, meaning just copy and paste the checkpoint and it will work for any sackbot. Any other tools I work out along the way i will give to any of those who would like it.2011-07-27 01:26:00

Thanks Benia! Ill check out yours as well! And Joey, you are right, but I was thinking of creating a separate PSN (ClaydohwizardCoD or something) and publishing the levels on that account as locked levels, then linking them from my Menu level on my Claydohwizard PSN2011-07-27 04:19:00

You must message me first on my creator profile. once you are ingame go to text search and type in my psn. hover over one of my levels that show up and press square. Look around My Earth and find the Resistance 2 FFA Online level. Be sure to turn on a second controller so that the level is viewable. You may not proceed into the level if you don't have more that one player. I use carryable guns in that level. If you dont like them then I wont help. I will only make one gun at a time because it takes 1-2 hours to perfect the gun.2011-07-28 22:30:00

Here's something I play it by: Make the game, then the menus. Doing this will make the game more inspired because the menus reflect the game's overall feel and awesomeness.

Also, start small. I HUGE project will tear your sanity apart (I should know, I was making a 3D 4-Player multiplayer FPS). If you are going to make all that, have a constant supply of awesome music to prevent dread and other stuff like that (for you, like an ipod or something).

I don't want you to lose ambition like I did, my project is almost complete until I just stopped working on it. It plays and everything, it just needs finishing and all. Best hope that you defy all odds big and small and make one epic game!

Look around My Earth and find the Resistance 2 FFA Online level I understand that you had to drop out, Im okay with that, but I did play the level, and I did get the free gun. Is it okay if I inspect this gun and examine it to find out how it works? You will still be credited in the same way you would've been had you been able to directly assist me, that is if you allow me to use your logic setup and design for my guns in the level.2011-07-30 11:57:00

I'm just going to warn you to be careful who you invite to work on the project. If you take them to create mode, make sure you can trust them not to steal any of your stuff.

As a side note, and I have to be honest, I dismissed this point when I read it, never had to worry about that.

But wow. I don't know if its cause I have been learning heap loads about logic lately (meaning my stuff is just getting better), but I have never had more stuff stolen before than I have had this week, just in objects and concepts. Every single time I open an object of mine with someone else there, Im kicked in a moment, and others are around, who have told me that the host had either captured or examined it closely afterwards.

Anyways, take Woodbury Raider's advice.

Also, If you are interested in helping me with my current project, shoot me a message, and Ill give you the idea of my newest project (not too much, for I have learned ), and you can give me the yes/no.

i would happily help out! i am great with logic and i am vaguely familiar with the 3d cam, but i dont really know how to make it a multiplayer experience, i am great with menus! i can make a simple menu with the basics(e.g. play, options and controls) in 5-10 mins, i know there are people that are better but oh well, i could make something really advanced in about 30 mins, i have played one COD game and i know all about the menu system, i could also try and make some fonts for us to use...

hope i can be of asistance!

PSN : gamerater15
name : Ben
time a day on LBP2 : well its the summer hols so about 3 - 6 hours a day

hope i can help out with this awesome project!
i will get started on some logic for the menu now

sorry about the third post!

is this a top down shooter, a 3d cam functional game or a side scroller? i think that top down would be best as its easy and i can add in a map really easily, but the 3d can would look a lot better, only one player though, which really buggers up the idea of having a online multiplayer and i cant really make a map atall... again really sorry about the third post... it wont happen again sir, im really sorry sir
