Selectors=Lag!!??

Archive: 8 posts

First of all im not sure if this belongs on this thread, 1. because i'm telling you a discovery, but 2. I'm also asking for help.
But putting those matters aside I have something to share.

So for my shooter level, there will be an ammo count, with 60 bullets. And So I started using selectors to go throughout the numbers. When everything started getting all Laggy. (Btw the selectors at 60) And the more wires I hooked up the laaggyier (not a word) it got. And my thermo is barely hitting the first bar line!

So i've concluded that Selectors=Lag. But my main question is will it affect my gameplay? And also if it does, can there be another way to make an ammo count?

I'm pretty sure it will not affect your gameplay. The circuit boards and wires are not visible in play mode. The only reason it lags is because there is a lot of activity in one place. It happens to me alot. Hope it helps .2011-07-21 00:45:00

This happens to me a lot. It helps if you separate the selector into 2 parts.

Give the first selector 10 ports. Have the first and last port go into a combiner (top-negative Bottom-positive) going into the cycle input of the second selector with 6 ports. Hook up the outputs of the first selector into the first digits of your ammo counter and the outputs of the second into the second digits.

Might just be lag due to wire path calculations. Try dragging your logic to a piece of material outside the chip, I use that technique to get rid of microchip lag.2011-07-21 15:27:00
