Bouncarooni 2 (Survival Challenge)

http://lbp.me/v/3m1j5m Alright, I need peoples' opinions: I dumped a ton of time into this level, and I really like the results. So do other people, apparently, as the heart to play ratio is 1:4. The level only reached the fourth page of the cool pages, and has a whimsical amount of plays... It's now off of the cool pages completely from what I can tell, which means the plays aren't going to be going up much other than from people from LBPC. Why did the level do so poorly, despite the outstanding reviews and hearts on it? Is it the icon? The name? DId I not advertise it enough? (I'm not going to spam comments on levels -- that's just plain stupid) I'm not entirely satisfied with the icon that I made (I suck at making them) -- it's way too simple. Maybe it isn't eye-catching enough? I'm considering changing what's wrong and deleting the level, then republishing it fresh and new. I don't really want to have to do this, as then I'll lose the reviews and such that are already there, but I probably will end up doing this. I need YOUR opinion. Please give me any feedback you have. Thanks. | 2011-07-19 19:38:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
Semi-major update: It's now more obvious why you're killed when you cheat. Tweaked the probability of the Zapper randomly stopping. | 2011-07-20 04:32:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
Major update: There's a real electrical currant coming from the gear boxes now, when the floor is about to be launched. The Zapper doesn't make lethalisation sounds anymore. | 2011-07-20 19:06:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
I played this and left feedback in-game. I'm just posting here too because it is worth it that the community knows that this is a fun challenge. Seriously people, put it in your queue. You'll play it 1,000 times trying to get a high score. | 2011-07-20 19:18:00 Author: melomaniac Posts: 51 |

Thanks One of the main goals when I created this level was to make it as re-playable as a survival challenge can be -- this is where Armageddon mode began. | 2011-07-21 00:10:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
Alright, I really need feedback. Read the OP again if you haven't already, pretty please. | 2011-07-21 23:00:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
Alright, I'm doing F4F now -- tell me if you want me to leave feedback for one of your levels! | 2011-07-24 22:04:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
This little survival challenge is actually pretty well done. I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it to make it absolutely perfect. I don't really know why it hasn't been played when it was on the Cool Pages. I don't even know how to get onto the Cool Pages. I guess it's just a matter of luck to have people notice your level and play it enough, so it doesn't wander off the pages. That's not why I'm here though. I'm here to give you the constructive feedback you've been waiting for. First thing I noticed is that it gets hard pretty fast. It goes from easy peasy, to pretty hard to really intense in a matter of moments. Perhaps there is a way to make it more buidling up to the hardest level, and by that I mean more gradually. Now, as a matter of speech, the time between the red signal and the bounce goes from 5 to 1 after the first signal. Maybe you could tweak it so it goes from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 and then to 1. Perhaps you could add even more challenges beside the laser. I didn't survive really long, so I've never seen any challenge after the laser, but yeah. Maybe something a little less hard, like parts of the bounce pad catching on fire or domehting and some other things, before adding the laser. It makes players feel they've got a really high score if they last longer. That's it for my constructive feedback. If you have the time, why don't you play and review my level: LBP.me: http://lbp.me/v/2sznf3 Thread: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59483-Tubular-Bells-Mike-Oldfield P.S. I have to admit though that I haven't read the level description yet. I'll requeue this and play Armageddon mode | 2011-07-25 19:54:00 Author: DoodVogeltje Posts: 81 |

I have to admit though that I haven't read the level description yet. I'll requeue this and play Armageddon mode Thanks for the feedback. I thought it was actually pretty easy for the first minute or so when I was making it, but that might be because I made the level, as well as the Bouncarooni Survival Challenge in LBP1 before it, so I might be good at it. I'll consider scaling the difficulty a little more than I already have. One thing I was actually thinking about doing was moving the laser activation one difficulty back so it doesn't come until 20 seconds later (Difficulty 5) than it currently does. What do you mean it goes from 5 to 1? Do you mean a countdown of sorts, or how it quickly gets harder after a difficulty increase? I've queued your level, and I'll play it a little later when I get on my PS3, and then leave feedback. Thanks a million! | 2011-07-26 02:51:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
What do you mean it goes from 5 to 1? Do you mean a countdown of sorts, or how it quickly gets harder after a difficulty increase? I meant the latter. The time between signal and the actual bounce gets a lot shorter after the first difficulty increase. Maybe it's better to slow down this increase by letting the time between signal and bounce be a little longer. | 2011-07-26 14:47:00 Author: DoodVogeltje Posts: 81 |

I've just finished a brand new version of the level, but I'm not going to publish it yet. How'd you like to join me in-game and help me test it out? I just noticed, this level of mine was mentioned in the Community Spotlight 64! And I have a new and improved version of the level almost ready, but I'll probably release it as a separate level. I dunno if it'll replace this one yet, or if I'll release it as Bouncarooni 2.5 or Bouncarooni 3. The theme of the level is still identical, but it's a huge change to the difficulty scaling, as well as something new to cause your doom in the later stages of difficulty. | 2011-07-28 20:21:00 Author: Gawdl3y Posts: 45 |
