how do I fade out hologram material
Archive: 7 posts
I want to have the hologram/light fade as you walk past, like in the final level in LBP2, when you're in the hamster and roll across the floor. right beneath you is full lit up, but it get's dimmer the the further from you it is. like in this pic taken in Wooden Platformer Challenge. http://i8.lbp.me/img/ft/c38ddea9017430688a181ca08d691fd0a92556c1.jpg I know that's kind of hard to make out so here is one that I made to further illustrate. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Pc3C9qKmFbk/TiIZ8eRVv3I/AAAAAAAAAjQ/abSDrHPicTY/fade%252520out.jpg the block i'm on is full lit up and the further from me it is, it is dimmer. How do I do this? | 2011-07-19 17:31:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I think a player sensor set up using speed scale might do it. | 2011-07-19 17:43:00 Author: Marioface5 Posts: 73 |
Put a player sensor on to each block and hook it up to the hologram. Then in the holograms settings change the input setting to "Dimmer" I think that should work. | 2011-07-19 17:43:00 Author: SneakySteve1983 Posts: 121 |
To get the desired effevt in your second picture, you could put a follower on some holographic to follow the player. On this place a GREEN TAG. This will trigger the effect. Now, make a 2x2 holo (like in your picture. In its tweaks, ste it to Colour-Yellow, Brightness-80, Animation speed-0, Input- Dimmer. On its 'off' state, set it to brightness 0 and Animation to 0) Place in the centre of this holographic material block a TAG SENSOR. Tweak this to the following- Min. Radius-0.0, Max. Radius-20.0, now move down the tweak menu and Set the tag to respond to CLOSENESS. It works because as you pass by each tag sensor they get brighter the CLOSER you get to the centre of each one, and fade as you move away from the centre of each one. If you have a load in a line (copy and paste the same holoblock), it fades from the last and brightens nearer the next. The wider you make the max radius of each tag sensor, the more gradual the fade effect will look because its sensing more blocks at once. I hope this helps you | 2011-07-19 21:03:00 Author: Sean88 Posts: 662 |
I'm pretty sure you place a player sensor on each piece of hologram, and wire it to the hologram. then set the hologram's input to "dimmer". Hope I helped! | 2011-07-19 22:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
Yeah, like what every body else said, a player sensor with tweak setting set to "dimmer" is the right way to go | 2011-07-19 22:36:00 Author: zzmorg82 Posts: 948 |
thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'll tinker with it tonight. Thanks again. | 2011-07-20 16:36:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
