The Official wiki is a bit... lacking...

Archive: 19 posts

Please don't get me wrong. I'm sure it takes lots of hard work and dedication to run the wiki, but if I were one of the mods, I'd maybe suggest some detail.

Like, if you go into the LBP2 story section, you should have links to the different Alliance members and things. I think since it's a wiki, it should truly be the number one source of littlebigplanet information.

So, let's say you go to Avalon's page (if one were to exist) and you start reading. You'd find pictures of what he use to look like in various concept images and beta builds, etc. etc. and maybe even some Trivia. So like, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you might see something like this:

Avalon was originally a 'bad guy'.

I don't know. I'm very tired and just spitting out words here, but I think there's a lot of potential in the wiki that's wasted.
It just seems like the Wiki has general info that most people know already. I've considered starting my own Wiki to dump in every little fact that ever surfaced about this game, but I didn't want to rival the official one, and I didn't want to be brash about it.

Anyway, that's that.

I agree completely, but I think you are allowed to edit a wiki as long as you're a member, but if i'm wrong you should just start your own. Because you're right, not much effort was put into this wiki.

Actually, is there any way I could join the current team?

As I said in my OP, I don't want to be brash, but I have the time and resources to really make it an informational place to visit.

well as i said earlier, you will be able to join but i'm not sure if you'll be able to edit as frequently as some other members. You should try it out.2011-07-19 02:54:00

Well, I meant more as like a moderator, maybe.

Not to rain on any parades, but a far superior wiki seems to already exist here: http://littlebigplanet.wikia.com/wiki/LittleBigPlanet_Wiki2011-07-19 03:55:00

Yeah, and no some Brendal chick just deleted everything in the story section... Unfortunate. I do agree and have always secretly thought that LBPCs wiki was pretty darn lame. The one that Marioface put is pretty superior.2011-07-19 04:57:00

It took me ages to get those images aligned for the popit image and to work out how to get the buttons to appear on top. :/

I'd disagree... the wiki entries are in a completely different format, and I'd argue that the one hosted here contains much more detailed information, although not in every article. For instance, take these two articles:

http://littlebigplanet.wikia.com/wiki/Sackbot
http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Sackbot

I assume anyone can edit... isn't that the point of a wiki?

Why would you want moderator capability?

I believe the only thing constructive you can really do with that is modify and create templates, etc. You can also suggest and work with current moderators to achieve your goals.

I put out a call to arms a few weeks ago to get community members like you guys to help out. The moderators of the wiki were not put in place to create the content. Our hope was that members like you would contribute to the wiki by adding content that you thought was relevant. I can assure you that a LOT of work has gone into the wiki, and a lot of work continues to go into the wiki to improve it.

No one needs to be "invited" to the team, no one needs to "apply" to the team. You simply log into the wiki and start adding content.

We request, desire and encourage your help.

There a reaon why we all put LBPWiki logos in signatures to attract you to help us out It's lacking because for some reason you guys dont want to join and make it not lacking most active users are moderators and curators currently. Meteor go ahead and add that Avalon triva thing as oyu want

Some templates must are locked and i know curators play with presmissions to them all the time, but even so disscusion pages are open and you can request chages. We keep some templates lock because they most critical elements of wiki, one change on them may effect hundreds of articules, which can be used to vandilize in larger scale.

main namespace are free to edit but you need to follow the polices so everything will look nice and unified, we even have tutorial namespace that you can place your tutorial as you want and wiki features will make it better looking then here on forums

Moderators are not much special on the wiki, we only have power to delete, lock and unlock pages and ban users everyone have power to edit, upload and other stuff, moderators need to do stuff under policies too, which also you can be involved to make policies.

Idea of wiki is massive cooperation to gather and manage knowlage data and everyone are free to contribute

Actually, around the time this thread was posted there was some vandalism which meant a lot of pages were replaced. You probably saw the wiki as this was happening, now it's all been reverted back, sorry you caught it at a bad time. :/

As for the actual OP, the point of a wiki is that everyone jumps in and adds to anything they want, whenever they want. All you need is an LBPC account; which you already have. Moderators are only there to keep an eye over things making sure the rules are being followed, with a few extra powers the average user will never even need. To become a Moderator I recommend showing your dedication to the wiki by making some good edits (maybe starting with the things you mentioned in the OP), we watch over everyone and no one's edits go unnoticed, whether you're actually promoted to a moderator or not; we will still love you very much for the help.
