A Simple Platformer

Archive: 12 posts

Hey guys! Here I will introduce my complex and most hardest level I have ever created (I might probably be posting all my levels, still making up my mind.). It's called A Simple Platformer. Now the reason I called it "simple" was because of the fact of it being an easy level and the theme. I personally think everything else is really, REALLY cool. To some, people would probably be like, "Wow, this is so cool!" (That wasn't a review. Just pointing it out.) While I'd think, "OMG, did I make this? This is the best level I ever made!" So I'm obviously proud of this level. Now you probably want to know what's in it, so I'll get to that now. It's full of different obstacles, some easier than the others, and a couple small cutscenes to amp it up a bit. I put lots of flowers and leaves in the level, but I think I overdone it . If this level gets a positive reputation, don't be surprised if I start working on a sequel . So I hope you have the time to try out my level, and leave a review on the level if you feel like you have something to say bout' it, thanks!

See ya around, chronos453. ^^

Played it, loved it!

Very clean visually (I would do well to try preselect a few mats and stick with them myself, but I fear my borderline ADHD will continue to nudge me into chopping and changing as I go - hopefully with more experience I'll at least get a better sense of what mats compliment each other). Really liked the gameplay, flowed very well and your camera setup was excellent.

Fun fun

Hey there,

I've played it and liked it. It's a classical and simple but fun platforming level with nice visuals and some interessing platforming stuff. Some camera were maybe a little to far from the sackboy but nothing too anoying. Also, I don't knows if you wanted to make some pistons visible, but they don't really fit with the theme.

Overall good level !

If you have the time to return the F4F favor, please look at my BLOCKS level (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=60020-BLOCKS-1-PLAYER-ONLY-Puzzle-Platform-Exploration-level). Thanks !

In queue, I'll play it on my lunch break or when I get off work and edit with feedback. Please check out my level, Digital: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59957-Digital-My-flagship-level.

I played it and left feedback in-game. I had a lot of fun with this and didn't find any bugs. Nice level.

Alright, I played it, and I particularly liked it. The detail was good, although not as unique as it could have been. Many of the gameplay elements were great and creative, and I also liked the length in that it took a while to complete, which isnt always easy to do. I did think some obstacles were rather difficult, such as difficult bounce pads and the room with all the platforms moving by pistons. It took me many tries, although maybe that was just me. Perhaps they could be slower? Also, it might look better if the pistons were invisible. Despite how this review my look, however, the good things far outweigh the bad things. Added to my favorite platformers list(also known as my hearted page). Keep up the great work!2011-07-20 17:13:00

After going through the replies to my thread, I did realize that the pistons are recommended to be invisible. And you did say the pistons took many times to complete? Don't worry, happened to me too. Overall, I really appreciate how you (along with everyone before you) gave my level a positive reply. Don't worry, I'll be sure to update these as soon as I have the chance.

Free love, chronos453.

Heyas Chronos,

i left a review on the level itself, but i thought i'd put something on here to bump things a bit, because people ought to see this stage.

Anyhow, you've done a really good job with your stage here. The platforming is quick and direct with just the right level of difficulty for a mid-range player. You've got a nice design scheme (like i said in-game, these materials just seem to lend themselves to platforming stages), and i really liked some of your choices of details (the spinning fly wheels on the moving sections, f'rex). It was also nice to see the jet pack included and used well, people seem to have a hard time integrating that one into stages.

The only negative points i can think of (really minor ones, here). the stage might be a bit easy for real platforming pros, some of the thin layer detail bits are a bit too thin and jagged looking (pure looks, this one...but, for example, the question mark on the wall the first time you see a secret flower could look nicer), and it's possible to bounce out of the stage right before the end (there's a checkpoint right before here, so this is hardly gamebreaking).

All in all, well put together, good, simple fun. Great Job!

Good day and great creating!

(since is this an F4F stage, if you'd like to put a little in this thread: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59257-Bloomin-Oni-Ons! that'd be keen)

Just recently played this level. Great platformer you have here. Gameplay was not too challenging and I enjoyed it very much. Visuals were nice and to the point. I did not find any problems with the level.

Overall, good job. Thanks for sharing this.

My F4F level is Neptunia. You can find it in my signature.

That was a fun platforming level, even though it's as what this level's title described.

VISUALS:
The visuals are well polished. I think you should make some edges more round than straight by adding more corner edits. Also, in the part where the platforms has a circling flame material changer, you need to somehow make the ledge of the left one's right side taller, so that players won't have a hard time getting to the next platform (hope you know which one I'm talking about, it's at the beginning of the level.)

SOUND:
Good music choices.

GAMEPLAY:
This level has some impressive platforming and good use of grappling hook, jet pack, and bounce pads. It's pretty easy to me, but it was fun.

OVERALL:
A fun platforming. A yay.
