Joining Random Levels at Points?

Archive: 11 posts

Ya know, sometimes I want to play levels online with others. I don't have as much trouble joining others as I did before. People have been accepting join request more and joining games is easier (based on my experience)...

But...for whatever reason when I do join a person in a level I want to go in, I end up in a completely different level than the one I was joining OR in the person I was joining's pod.

Is that a glitch? Or what? Because I find that just as irritating as the patched load screens. I want to know if anyone experiences this problem.

Maybe you joined at the exact time when he finished the level and came back to pod.2011-07-18 21:28:00

You seem to have missed the fact where I joined completely different levels at points.

I would think that, but I join people in less than 10 seconds and they are usually halfway through level.

Well, hold on. Are you clicking on a level and choosing "join us"? Because sometimes it registers someone is playing a level even several minutes after theyve left. Like once, I was playing one of the story levels, and finished it, and went back to my pod and was talking to a guy for literally 5 minutes when some random person joins, saying he was trying to join people to do the multiplayer thing in the level I finished 5 minutes ago. Have you ever entered a random unpopular level with no one playing, and went back to your pod, and there was the icon above the level saying someone is playing it? Well, thats you, cept you already left. The effect can last a while, certainly long enough to load another level.2011-07-19 05:08:00

ATMLVE sums it up perfectly, I have had this happen multiple times, it's just LBP being LBP :s2011-07-19 05:14:00

The lag effect is definitely part of it. I also know the game teams you up with players with available slots, but that person is not always the host. It has the combined effect of keeping channels open to let you join things, but you could be up to 5 minutes behind where they really are. Kind of like following muddy shoe prints in the rain... you can see where someone was, and follow them, but you still don't know where you're going.2011-07-19 09:58:00

I've had strangers try to join me in the pod many times, and not always after I finish playing a level. A few times it has been several minutes after booting the game.2011-07-20 16:31:00

Yup I suspect it's lag alright, can see whenever I do a lucky dip, I know I'm the only person playing that random lvl and after I leave (including sometimes writing lengthly reviews, although rare for ur average lucky dip!) there is still a little icon over the badge claiming someone is actively playing it >.<

That part I get. The part I don't get is I set my options up before playing stating whether or not Im happy for company or AUTO-REJECT! And still can get ppl trying to jump in my pod!?
