Mover help.

Hello, everyone! I need your assistance, assuming what I'm trying to do is possible. How can I make it so that something is moved using a mover but won't be moved when impacted by a player or object? For instance, a moving platform that won't start falling to the ground when the player jumps on it.2011-07-18 02:32:00

This is a easy one, have a player sensor run to a inverted timer, have that timer run to a anti gravity with high dampening. So player jumps on platform, triggers player sensor starts timer. When timer runs out it turns off anti grave and platform falls. Done.2011-07-18 03:01:00

You might try placing a microchip on the platform. On this place a PLAYER SENSOR and an IMPACT SENSOR wired into an AND GATE from the And gate wire the output into a mover set on 0.0 speed (so that when the player makes contact with the platform and is in range of the Player sensor, the 0 speed mover is triggered.
Also, from the Player sensor have a second wire going directly to another mover (this set at a moving speed) so that when the player comes in range (but not touching the platform) the platform will move. Also place an ANTI-GRAV so the platform will float.

^If you do that the platform will stop moving.^
What you should do is have a piece of holo with the mover and a tag. Make the platform follow the tag at 100 speed.

Guys, using a follower to move the platform set to disable up/down will solve this problem. The follower will not allow the platform to move in any direction but left and right. To go up and down, spin the follower 90 degrees.

You could also use a piston set to invisible.

Use a follower and set it to follow a tag on a piece of holo that moves up and down. Make sure the followers acceleration and max speed allows it to follow your holo. This way a sackboy jumping on the platform should have no effect on it's movement.2011-07-18 07:07:00

You could also use a piston set to invisible.

For a bot or a player it won't matter much, but if you are moving heavy objects around (or the material from which the platform is made is heavy), a piston will eventually bend, even if set to stiff.
