what am i doing wrong?
Archive: 17 posts
i made a short movie inspired by the matrix. its based on the scene in the beginning of the film. its short because it overheated but its a pretty decent movie with good reviews. what i am failing to understand is...the thread has over 300 views. but the level only has 30 plays. its only been out a week but what makes over 50% of those 300 people look at my thread and not even bother to check out a short movie? is it the discription? is it the fact i said its short? or is it just the fact that its a movie based on the matrix and not a playable level? what is it that im doing wrong? just take a look and what would put you off watching it? if anything? https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59641-the-matrix-has-sackboy... | 2011-07-16 15:09:00 Author: wolfy_616 Posts: 202 |
I've noticed that the view/responding ratio here is leaning more towards the views. A thread will get 30+ views before even getting a single reply. You aren't doing anything wrong. | 2011-07-16 15:19:00 Author: Captain_Dinosaur Posts: 214 |
hmm yeh but how can it be viewed by 300 people and half of them dont bother to check out something that will take 2mins. not even that. | 2011-07-16 15:30:00 Author: wolfy_616 Posts: 202 |
Either (A. It doesn't interest them, or (B. you have nothing to offer them. Is kinda what I'm going off of....... | 2011-07-16 15:39:00 Author: Captain_Dinosaur Posts: 214 |
fair enough...i don't think i understand the LBP community then if levels about justin beiber and music videos on that silly song " all i ever wanted " gets more regonition than a decent movie based on a popular franchise like the matrix. | 2011-07-16 15:45:00 Author: wolfy_616 Posts: 202 |
fair enough...i don't think i understand the LBP community then if levels about justin beiber and music videos on that silly song " all i ever wanted " gets more regonition than a decent movie based on a popular franchise like the matrix. It's perfectly understandable...those silly levels are easy to find in-game from cool levels...and I doubt many folks from here are the ones playing. It's also not 2 minutes to check out your level...you need to go to lbp.me and log in to queue it up for when you play LBP next. It's not very convenient. Let me ask you this...how many levels to you view/play from the level showcase...maybe your part of the problem? I'm gonna check out your movie now as I really liked the 1st matrix, hope it's good! | 2011-07-16 15:58:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
Well, many people(like me) don't have internet on our PS3's so we can't even play!!!! > | 2011-07-16 16:33:00 Author: zzmorg82 Posts: 948 |
im defo not part of the problem lol...i treat people how i want to be treated so i check the level showcase on a regular basis and play and review peoples levels. i know how much effort goes into it so i like to give people credit where its due and put the effort in to play something that took time, effort, creativity and dedication. | 2011-07-16 17:01:00 Author: wolfy_616 Posts: 202 |
im defo not part of the problem lol... You might be Remember this thread -> https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59116-I-m-getting-barely-any-plays! Being new to LBP and this community I figured I'd go thru everyone who posted on that thread up to the point I said I would. Played a few dozen levels, rated all bar 2 up, reviewed honestly (even ran out of space I had so much to say that I had to continue in comments), and a few I loved so much I hearted (don't give those out easy). I got exactly *zero* plays as a result of that and you were one of the posters I did indeed check out and rate | 2011-07-18 01:57:00 Author: Masseyf Posts: 226 |
I will look at a thread during the week and queue levels for the weekend, sometimes I will check back in to see what else has changed... And then sometimes I don't play LBP on the weekend. So my queue list gets a little long, but I clear it eventually. | 2011-07-19 03:23:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |

Welcome to the internet. People are illogical. | 2011-07-19 22:29:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |
Welcome to the internet. People are people. fixed. That's just the way it is man. Read This (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59116-I-m-getting-barely-any-plays!&p=881834&viewfull=1#post881834) | 2011-07-19 23:12:00 Author: Epicurean Dreamer Posts: 224 |
Welcome to the internet. People are people, who are illogical. I think you meant to write something like this. Not just in LBP. People are extremely illogical in general. | 2011-07-20 07:27:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |
Not really. I wouldn't say people are illogical. That statement is kind of an oxymoron. I would say that certain types of people have the tenacity to be immoral the the internet. Its actually a known thing that given complete anonymity most people are far more likely to do and say things they normally wouldn't in a real world social environment. That being said, I also think a lot of people are very nice and thoughtful individuals. Its down to the inescapable complexity of social interaction due to the staggering number of individuals in the world. People are people, and interacting with any number of people at any given time has too many variables to make any one defining prediction about how the situation will pan out. Its chaos. So saying 'people are illogical' is a self defeating statement as its an attempt to define what is inherently emergent and unpredictable. Meh, I'm just being pedantic. | 2011-07-20 19:08:00 Author: Epicurean Dreamer Posts: 224 |
one thing i'd consider doing is making this F4F people respond better to this...but do your part and follow through. become more active. add pics to the thread. makes it a bit more enticing. also change your description in the thread. when i read it, it sounded like you were giving excuses why it might be bad. ie nobody cares if its short if its good, they'll just want more | 2011-07-20 21:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
I would recommend that you don't rely solely on LBPCentral to attract an audience. You should network within the game itself, and when someone on your friends list plays your level then it will come up in Recent Activity on the pod computers of their other friends, which will often inspire those people to play it too. And when those other people play it, it also comes up in Recent Activity of their friends, and so on... Basically, asking a friend to play can set off a butterfly reaction that will see your play count rapidly escalate, so asking 5 friends to play...well, you work it out. I can't guarantee you a billion and one plays this way, but I'm sure it would help to prevent your levels from sinking into total oblivion as soon as you publish them. | 2011-07-21 09:41:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
