There is a lot of Kingdom Hearts fans on this site. So I thought it's be great to have a "KH discussion thread" as there has been in the past. So, where do we think KH goes from here? We have Kingdom Hearts 3D coming to 3DS promising totally new worlds, we have a supposedly new game Birth by Sleep - Volume 2 and the much anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3. What worlds do we want to see? What characters do we want? When will we get KH3?

World-wise, I'd love to see the team branch out to some of the non-classics, such as the newer films. I know I'd absoloutely love to explore the beautiful world Disney brought to us in Tangled, and explore the bayou from Princess and the Frog. But I'd also really like to see the team be a bit more original, and perhaps make worlds based on rides at the many Disney theme parks. I'd love to see a world based on the Haunted Mansion. Although I'm worried they'll get complaints from 'copying' Epic Mickey. What I'd most like to see though is the team make existing worlds even bigger. The sole thing that annoys me about the Kingdom Hearts series is the name of the worlds they choose. It's just confusing. The entire WORLD is called 'Agrabah' or 'Neverland' when those areas are just a small part or just a town from that world. It just gets confusing, especially when there are separate worlds for places set on Earth. For example, Beast's Castle. I'd love for them to change the name of the world, and allow us to explore Belle's village, but we could take a quick trip through the woods and end up at Beast's Castle itself. I guess what I'm trying to say is to expand the worlds to allow more exploration, the Kingdom Hearts series has been pretty linear up to this point, whereas I think it should be more about exploring the different worlds you find yourself in, without the hassle of loading screens. Imagine just walking out of the Tower Valley from Tangled, and having a whole forest to explore, with the objective of finding the Snuggly Duckling pub. This, I feel, is what Kingdom Hearts should be about. Sorry if my post was confusing in any way..

I find it very frustrating. The worlds were detailed and did the films justice, but there just wasn't enough exploration and it just felt very cramped. The worlds were very small, and the fact that it wasn't seamless because of the loading screens even worsened the experience. I completely agree. I wouldn't even mind if the entire world took longer to load while on the world map in your gummi ship. I don't want loading screens in the actual world. I don't know if you've ever played one of the Harry Potter games (I'm a huge Harry Potter fan but the games are very poor to be honest, but I was playing one with my little sister) but there are barely any loading screens, making the exploration of Hogwarts seamless and it is very effective. Instead of taking you out of the experience, the game just slows down for a few seconds while the next area loads. If it isn't possible to load the entire world at once, I feel this would be the way to go.

When I first read this on IGN I went completely crazy, in a good way. Love KH2, it's easily one of my favourite PS2 games I've played so I'm pretty **** euphoric about the fact that there really is gonna be a threequel. The only truly bad thing I can think of was the fact that every single character I identified with or liked was killed off. Sora is a simple, annoying, naive little kid. But thankfully there's more to a game apart from the main character.

I think they should just kill the franchise already. They killed the plot line, milk it to death, and delayed it for a long time. They're going to pull a Duke Nukem here, so for the sake of the game's reputation they should just leave it.

I think they should just kill the franchise already. They killed the plot line, milk it to death, and delayed it for a long time. They have said they will finish making Final Fantasy XIII Versus and start making this after it, so... It will take a lot of time to release... But I hope they will get as good story to it as others had.

They are milking the series with all these spin-offs, but BBS is my favourite along with KH II. The characters and worlds from real Disney classics really charmed me.

I used to be a fan of KH but lost all my interest when SE decided to ruin the series with 3 sequels on handheld consoles. Now KH3 seems like a big meh to me.

Its more off a Prequel, and it sure isn't half-***ed from what I've played so far ^_^

I never really noticed how pointless the nobodies were until I started to replay the game. I can't stand the basic nobody (dusk?) the ones that look like blankets in the wind. On another note, I only recently learnt that a Toy Story world was originally planned for KH2, but was removed, probably due to the strained releations Pixar used to have with Disney. It was discovered by a hacker who found the models in the game's coding. Kingdom Hearts is probably one of my favourite RPGs ever. Third place to be exact. Birth By Sleep is my favourite out of all of them. I've yet to play the DS ones though. I only have played Birth by Sleep, so honestly... I only know tha basics of the story from a Nintendo Power article. It seemed VERY confusing. >.> To me, KH's story is like a puzzle....a giant puzzle.

I sort of understand the story, but I can get how people find it very confusing. It's Japanese story-telling, thus you really have to study the story for hours upon hours to understand.

This, I understand the story in BbS... but its gonna get confusing with Volume 2. Speaking of which... do you think Square Enix is eventually going to make it for the Vita, or is it going to stay PSP? I mean... Birth by Sleep took 2 1/2 years! and even though they already have the games framework (They had a taste of it in final mix apparently.) Its probably going to take a year or 2 still! Of course, this is very good for PSP owners... and they're more than likely going to put it on PSN this time, because of the Vita (That was annoying... I had to use my PSP slim to UMDump the game, so I could play it on my hacked go >.>)

There's still plotholes. For example: How the hell can Roxas be Sora's Nobody if he was Ven? The Ventus in Birth by Sleep... is technically a mix between Sora and Hal of Ventus heart. When Ventus killed Vanitas, in his metaphorical battle... he also destroyed his heart, and completely molded with Sora? But isn't Vanitas the opposite of Sora... an Anti-Sora? He is. But how then is VEN not sora? Simple, in Birth by Sleep, Xehanort mentions in his report, that he planned to pit Ven against his Student of PURE LIGHT after he made him fall to the darkness., to forge the keyblade. My theory? Sora = that student... but it still doesn't explain why Vanitas LOOKS like Sora, when they are not related in any way... perhaps its the manifestation of being purely good, or bad? Or, maybe... Sora was originally like the old Ventus, and he had HIS evil side taken, because he would never use it too... and Xehanort tried putting it in Ventus, hoping he was weaker and would fall? I would vote for that, Sora = TRUE Light side of Vanitas / Ven = Random student turned 100% light, and has no other reason, but as a substitute to make the X-blade after Sora possibly back then was fragmented himself... and joined with Ventus, in hoes of getting HIS heart back alongside him. So... when Ven destroyed Vanitas (or when Aqua finished him off for good!) the part of Sora that was left in Vanitas was released, making Sora whole. Then how come Ventus didn't get "fixed"? ... Now, THAT I have no Idea why :/

Gigantic theory I don't care about. Exactly. SE is letting the fans come up with their own plots for now because they already screwed up KH's one. They should have never introduced the Nobodies and just left the Organization as a regular enemy.

i hate how people actually get ANNOYED that there making the story deeper. although, the disney stuff has become like okay throw this in and leave it at that, while the actual story is about the new characters. so if they dropped the disney it would pretty much be final fantasy with recurring gameplay, and the same gos for the ff characters that are even less needed.

I never cared about the story. I was just mad that the gameplay in KH2 was pretty crappy. KH1 was good because you actually dodged attacks and there was some pretty good exploration,platforming, and puzzles. KH2 felt like just walking around hitting things while you and your enemies had insane homing ability with attacks. Thus negating almost anything I would call real gameplay. But the second selling point for me, the worlds based on Disney, did not make me demand all the hours of my time back. Tron was one of the reasons I bought the game before it was cheap. Also I liked the Winnie the Pooh books so much in both games that I could play a whole game based on that. As for KH3. I will play it no matter what if there is a world based on "The Cat from Outer Space". What I sorta expect is the combat engine to be sorta like Dissidia Final Fantasy. Because that was a KH game in the early concept stages and it works well enough and makes people happy.
