Quick Sackbot question.....
Archive: 7 posts
In the level I am making there are some guards planted in certain spots. I want them to walk to a tag, set on a wall to their left, and then after about five seconds they will walk to another tag on the right of them, then stay there for five seconds. I want this pattern to repeat itself until you are detected. Any ideas? Here's a paint picture to show you what I mean lol. https://picasaweb.google.com/104927064863136197000/SackbotThesunis6letters?authuser=0&feat=directlink#5629845915611006466 | 2011-07-16 08:06:00 Author: lbp2goty Posts: 104 |
Hmmm. Tricky. I guess you could just Act it out, or if theres a key tag option in the Patrol menu then use that. | 2011-07-16 08:23:00 Author: BeaversLikeWood Posts: 119 |
Hm...So you want them to go to a left wall, wait five seconds, then go to a right wall, wait five seconds, and do that over and over again? Using tags and timers this should be no problem at all! For the sake of simplicity, as it's pretty late here and I'm a bit tired, let's assume the guard starts at the right wall. Put a Controlinator on the sackbot's microchip and don't tweak it in any way, so it just has its standard settings. Then, set up a selector with three ports. Make a direction combiner and connect the second port to the positive input and the third port to the negative input. Then connect the direction combiner to the left stick's left/right input. The selector's first output, the one that hasn't been used, will serve as a standing option so that the guard isn't constantly walking into a wall. Now set up two tag sensors, each one sensing a separate tag. Make two timers, each with a max time of five seconds, and hook one up to the second selector input and the other to the third selector input. For each timer, wire its output to its reset option as well. Now wire one tag sensor to a timer and the other tag sensor to the other timer. Place a tag for the first sensor (the one that will tell the guard to move right) at the left wall and a tag for the second sensor at the right wall. Now make an OR gate and wire it up to the first selector input. Now make two AND gates, one for each of the OR gates inputs. Wire them up. For the first AND gate, hook up the tag sensor for right movement (the selector's second output). Then, create a NOT gate and wire the selector's second output to that. Then wire the NOT gate to the AND gate. For the second AND gate, do the same thing except for with the left movement tag sensor and the selector's third output. At that point it should work! I really hope this helps, but as I said I'm tired and I've also not had a chance to test this myself, so I'm just going on my mind at the moment. I'm sorry if this doesn't work! | 2011-07-16 09:02:00 Author: Marioface5 Posts: 73 |
The most simplest way is to just Act it out, and set it to loop. Then add a selector so when you get close, the selector will change their behavoir to patrol and start to chase you. | 2011-07-16 18:15:00 Author: zzmorg82 Posts: 948 |
Acting this out is a bad idea. It will lead to having to create separate, unique guards for every different location. It is unnecessary. Selector, 2 ports, both outputs hooked to chips. On chip #1 the logic that makes the bot walk to tag #1, plus a tag sensor for tag #1, set to a low radius. The sensor will activate port 2 of the selector after a 5 second timer expires. On chip #2 you will have everything for tag #2 and the sensor will activate port #1 again. | 2011-07-16 19:59:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
What is the logic that makes the bot walk to tag #1 or #2? 2 different follow waypoint behaviours? | 2011-07-16 23:16:00 Author: lbp2goty Posts: 104 |

Hmmmm... well, he could always just copy and save that bot, then plunk it down wherever he likes. Utlimately, acting it out is just as easy... if not easier. However, it might be heavier on his thermo (not sure though). | 2011-07-16 23:23:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
