Using [LBPC] tag to find our levels
Archive: 7 posts
Hello everyone, Recently, an idea was brought to my attention by Antikris, who suggested that everyone here insert the tag [LBPC] into their level title to make it easier for the rest of us to play each other's levels. The idea was brought up in a thread discussing the difficulty of getting plays on our levels, even from others within our own community. Sure, we have the level showcase, but most of the time new levels just get pushed back from the front page, and fall into obscurity, rarely getting noticed. I am proposing that all community members who wish for their levels to be easily located on the LBP search engine by each other add this tag somewhere to their level title: [LBPC] The tag can be anywhere, as long as it is in the title and the brackets included, the LBP search engine should find it. I believe this will help fellow community members find each other's levels, and it will be much easier to utilize our F4F system if we can just find each other's levels in a list and review them there, rather than digging the link out of the showcase. I'd like to know what the rest of you think, as well as any pros or cons you can think might come with this. Thanks to Antikris for the excellent suggestion! Thank you for your time. | 2011-07-14 17:08:00 Author: sp0ngyraver Posts: 407 |
Why not? It'd be entirely optional, and would help this community see each others levels that much easier. The only issue with the level showcase is it means an extra few steps before you can go and play a level. Often times, I just go on LBP to play a level, instead of checking the showcase. A simple search to immediately find all these levels would be useful. | 2011-07-14 18:15:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |

Doesn't scale...so unless you are also going to encode the date it become increasingly useless over time. | 2011-07-14 18:28:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
Doesn't scale...so unless you are also going to encode the date it become increasingly useless over time. Please explain, I figure as long as you search the tag, levels with the tag show up. They don't have to be in any real order, as long as we have a list we can choose from in-game, it's better than digging through the showcase. Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm interested to hear what more people think. | 2011-07-14 18:37:00 Author: sp0ngyraver Posts: 407 |

Exactly, search returns a list of levels in unknown order...how many do you want to wade through to pick out the ones you haven't played before, 50, 100, 1000? The unadorned [LBPC] tag works great initially, but if it becomes popular/common practice it becomes increasingly inconvenient. | 2011-07-14 19:20:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
Yes, I had foreseen that problem, but If we kept it just to our community, and only labeled levels that also had an entry in the showcase, it would help keep the numbers down. Besides, I wouldn't mind searching through a list of 100+ levels if they were all made by ppl here, it beats sorting through a 100+ list of empty levels and H4Hs trying to find just one gem. It's not without it's flaws, but I'm saying at this point the good outweighs the bad. | 2011-07-14 19:33:00 Author: sp0ngyraver Posts: 407 |
