So i was playing lbp2 as usual when the ps3 freezes, so i turned the ps3 off, turned it back on again and started the game and it asks if i wanted to import lbp1 stuff which i found wierd since i havent played it in a while. then it asks for "terms of agreement", and i soon figured out what was going on. sure enough, i started off by playing that stupid tutorial. so basically, ive lost all my priceless data, is there anything i can do? i dont have that plus online backup thing.2011-07-12 01:10:00

If you do not have any recent backup data of LBP2, im afraid there is nothing you can do. (at least I dont know anything.) That happened to me a long time ago while playing a story level. Im very sorry for your loss.2011-07-12 04:31:00

Well I started up again and i still have my moon, costumes, and such, but as for story its all gone, as is all the items you acheieve there. Thing is that bothers me is there was no way to avoid it. Just take any precautions you can, get that playstation plus backup, because you're not safe. And who knows, maybe we'll run into each other online someday2011-07-12 17:11:00

It's odd, this seems to have happened to an alarming number of people recently. It is prone to happen every now and again but recently there seems to have been a huge increase in how much this is happening. Just take a look at how many posts in the help forum are people saying the same thing as the OP.

It happened to me for the first time ever recently too, same thing, lost all story mode data, done tutorials (and collected gadgets) and materials but kept all my online data, costumes and moon work.

You don't need the plus backup utility to back stuff up, you can back up LBP manually from in the game, including any levels you're building and/or your whole profile.

Yeah, in OPTIONS -- PROFILE -- BACKUP or something...
I do this around every month, or 2 hours when I'm building something serious.
