Topdown Fortress Zombie Survival v.102 (Innovation at his finest)

Its finally done! Took some time, but its done!

A topdown Zombie Survival!
''But DoomeDx..We have enough zombie survivals! ''
Not like this! Atleast, not as far as i know!

As you can see in the description, this one is a little diffrent. You can build stuff! The soldier does not carry around an infinite amount of ammo, so you have to build Ammo station to refil! Create barriers to keep zombies away, or build a bunker for shelter and take down the zombies from the windows! It goes on and on.

One of the fun things i noticed during playtesting, is that it takes stretegie (Wow i totally forgot how to spell that word).

For instance, when a wave of attacking zombies is over, you have 20 to 30 seconds to rebuild the damage done by zombies, and to improve your defense. Spread around sentry bots, defended by Barriers, create bunkers at vital places. Etc Etc.

Its alot of fun! In my opinion that is

Well...im not I want to continue with this, but i need prober feedback on what to improve, and if i should go on with this level. Or just let it be how it is.

At the moment, there are 6 waves. (Last 2 waves have a difficulty spike..Im aware of it). I want to have 15 waves, and Wave 15 is infinite.
So let me know

Very nice level you have here the gameplay was reasonable and easy and the ideas were really original. I have though seen so many zombie levels where the zombies look just like yours.

First thing that really stood out for me about this level was the way you placed the health bar on the left arm of the charracter and the ammo bar on the weapon. I thought that was a great little touch.
One problem i encountered many times though was that whenever i tried to build a bunker or place an ammo crate or heealth crate the zombies prevented me from doing so or i placed it too close to something else so it never built but still took my points away.
I would suggest changing it slightly so that when a bunker is built have the zombies in the radious of the bunker be destroyed so that it can be placed.
My other idea is that you should make it so that instead of just pressing triangle and a bunker is built make it so if you hold triangle then a holo box the same size as the bunker will appear so that you know where you are placing it.
I would also suggest making ammo and health crates smaller as they constantly got in the way.

The airplane drop offs was a good touch also though maybe it shouldn't happen untill wave 3 or 4 to make it really feel like an emergency drop off.
The turrets were great and not too powerfull.
You may need to explain the controls better as well though i see you have a setting option under construction maybe controls will be in their.

I liked how you showed off your work at the end when you die i thought the little show room mini tutorial thing was great.
Overall this was a great fun level so good job. BTW i liked the intro music.

For F4F please test out my deadville Hollow level which i have heavily changed recently.
Its a top down zombie level dead Nation style so you might like itas you made one yourself. I am planing on adding quite a few gameplay modes soon this idea ws one i was working on called Dead Horde It was going to be similar but you will be defending either a police station or a shopping mall and you will be able to build barricades and traps. Its still WIP and might not get finished but hopefully it will. Its in my sig. Theres no hurry to play as i hope to add extras soon so take your time.

Let me reply to serveral points of your review:

Trust me, i tried that. But i noticed that people will use bunkers as a weapon. ''Oh no, lots of zombies! Let me place a bunker on top of their head to kill them off!. I will fix the points bug though.

Good idea! Now working on a Tutorial Button.

Im also adding up 2 game-modes.
1. Survival (Zombies attack you)
2. Base Defense (Zombies attack the big building at the beginning)
I kind of like the second gamemode. You have to survive, plus you have to defend the HQ against zombie waves of enemies!

Thanks for the review. It was one of the most usefull reviews for me so far! Is there anything else i should work on? (Dont say visuals please I made them terrible on purpose. because if i add to much detail in the level, there is not enough space to build stuff on!

I played again after writing this review and found that because i was playing by myself it was extremly hard at around the 4th wave to keep the zombies away from the starting point. Also noticed that when i placed four 700 point bunkers the blue enemies destroyed them in about 30 secs and i thought what a wast of resources so you may want to make the 700 point bunker a little tougher not a lot just a little.

Well, im removing the Advanced Bunker. It feels quite uhmm..useless, i agree. Also kind of unnecessery.

So instead of an Advanced Bunker, you will now buy a ForceField wall. A big wall (Size of a bunker) which cannot be destroyed. It stays there for an entire minute, then the energy of the forcefield depletes. I think this is great idea because this gives you time to quickly rebuild.

Im also adding in Ranks now. Surviving an x amount of waves, will let you level up. By leveling up, you gain acces to more advanced structures. Barriers will be replaced with Titanium Barriers, Sentry Bots will be replaced with Minigun bots. etc etc.

This takes a lot of time for me to build, so when its done, i would like to invite you to my moon to test it out.
Im not a kind of guy that rushes their levels or publishes unfinished things.

Only thing i didnt like though, was the amount of money you get later on. made it a little to easy!

I made the forcefields btw, and scrapped it. it didnt fit in at all. Think ill replace them with Landmines (for 50 points each)

Updated to 1.32!

- Added an Aerial Bot (Comes after wave 3)
- Improved Sentry Turrets
- You will no longer lose money when you place something that fails to emit
- Made the soldier model smaller, so you no longer get stuck in bunkers
- Improved controls
- Added more waves
- Big Feature You have 2 objectives now! Survive + defend the HQ. Zombies will also try to destroy the HQ. Once the HQ is destroyed, its game over! HQ regains health after each wave
- Improved Turret Health (Before: 1 - After: 5)
- Made a tutorial, when pressing HELP in the menu
- Minilings will no longer give you money when you kill them
- Made the 2 base-sentries a bit more powerfull to improve its role as a last-defense
- Increased magazine count. You can now hold 10 magazines instead of 6 at the same time.
- Made ammo crates smaller
- Made Health Stations smaller
- Once inside a bunker, you will automaticlly regain Health + Ammo
- Made the Advanced Bunker more powerfull! The 2 turrets inside the Advanced Bunker have more health now.
- The level is now VERSUS., so player camera's are no longer shared
- You will now gain extra money once a wave has been completed
- Increased Bunker Hit Points
- Increased Player Health (Once a zombie was near you, you were basiclly dead, no longer!)
- New lightning in the level. It has a more dark atmosphere to it.
- Increased volume of the gunsounds. So it feels more powerfull!

I know, quite a big list, but im taking this level serious. I want it to be the most addictive level on LBP. I know im not there yet, im still improving it overtime

Still to come:

- CLASSES!!! Yes classes! Classes include:

- Soldier (Most firepower, shoots the fastest, biggest magazine, most health)
- Engineer (Can build Turrets, repair bunkers, refil Ammo Crates, Can improve Barricades (Turn them into Titan Barriers)
- Sniper (Has a sniper mode, which can be activated by pressing L1 (Zooms out, for a better view on the battlefield, Has the fastest bullets but firing rate is lower, can place Claymore Mines)
- Medic (Can heal others, builds Health Stations for free, can turn zombies back into humans, so he can fight alongside you (Though he dies in 30 seconds automaticlly)


Otherthings still to come:
- Way more waves
- More new fun gameplay elements

Great update, but the airbot needs some work!
For example, it flies randomly, and misses the action all the time!
And second, Damage is way to low :O
