Old fashion logic design.

(I have not seen this posted before, but then again i've not searched that much either ![]() i was looking through some videos of lbp2 i didn't want to see before the release to spoil anything, and stumbled upon this old video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYXRINyk4wg&feature=related this has nothing to do with the sackbots really, but i noticed that all logic had uniqe designs. much better than the design EVERYTHING have now IMO. http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/y363/az_za-/logic.png why did mm change that? it would easier to run through the poppit and find the logic gates you need, instead of looking at all the tiny marks or the names of the logic gates. also, in dat video, what are those thingamajjigs' next to the sackbot? they look kinda secret-ish awesome.. xD | 2011-07-10 16:19:00 Author: >er. ![]() Posts: 785 |
I believe it was party due to splitters and combiners looking a lot like male genitalia... Personally I prefer all the movers being the same shape with different symbols, all rotators being the same with different symbols etc. I genuinely think it's easier to pick things out in the popit etc. like that than with a unique mesh for each component. The stuff next to the sackbots are specific run and jump triggers if my memory serves me correctly... | 2011-07-10 16:54:00 Author: rtm223 ![]() Posts: 6497 |
I personally think those designs look interesting, but I believe the uniform logic is clearer on circuit boards and easier to understand. My logic boards (described as "cringe worthy logic" by others) would be even harder to understand with random shapes as well. So yes I think those look cool, but I an see why they changed it as its easier to understand and more tidy | 2011-07-10 18:12:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma ![]() Posts: 1414 |
Maybe so that the microchips don't look like a mess, especially the ones with gigatons of logic. My guess is that the inspiration to differentiate each category of components by shape and color of the chip came from road signs. | 2011-07-10 23:53:00 Author: SnipySev ![]() Posts: 2452 |
The newer logic designs are a million times better than the older ones imo. The reason/s? Read the three posts above me. ![]() | 2011-07-11 07:48:00 Author: midnight_heist ![]() Posts: 2513 |
A good feature to add would simply be to use alternate skins on logic. That way creators could have different logic styles for each theme. | 2011-07-11 12:34:00 Author: Tecnoguy1 ![]() Posts: 206 |
Having tiny genitalia on the microchips would have at least gone some way to make building logic a little less dull though. And easier to understand probably. | 2011-07-11 12:45:00 Author: julesyjules ![]() Posts: 1156 |
They should've done them like these old ones and then waited until the next game to make them all nice. That way, we could have our own choice. (Read: water sensor) | 2011-07-11 14:09:00 Author: Number7Million ![]() Posts: 248 |
they change it because it's more appalling to circuitry then LBP1 gadgets style and new design is much more readable. Thru old styles are somewhere out there ![]() | 2011-07-11 15:23:00 Author: Shadowriver ![]() Posts: 3991 |
I like the new design best. Especially nice when all on a circuit board as they have a smaller footprint and easier to organize. | 2011-07-11 17:17:00 Author: jwwphotos ![]() Posts: 11383 |
I kinda like the old timer's ( <- lol) design. | 2011-07-11 17:29:00 Author: LBNinja ![]() Posts: 204 |
I believe it was party due to splitters and combiners looking a lot like male genitalia When has that bothered MM? Have you seen the Chinese tree sticker in the foilage section?...xD | 2011-07-11 22:34:00 Author: gigglecrab ![]() Posts: 232 |
I'm pretty positive that the glowing things next to the sackbots are timers. Shaped like a sand timer, glowing substance indicating the countdown... I like the new, more organized design. It's not that hard to look at the design. It looks nicer, and takes up less space. | 2011-07-14 03:48:00 Author: Sackpapoi ![]() Posts: 1195 |
