the matrix has sackboy...

Archive: 37 posts

a short movie inspired but the matrix brought to little big planet! it does have a comical side but i can see where it may be seen as a little scary so i have attached a warning on the level discription.

it short because alot of work went into logic and detail so i overheated but not before i got all the important scenes in there. i was going to offer the two alphabet fonts you see in the level but not finished yet. so in the next one i will be giving away the full matrix font and dotted line fonts. a must see for matrix fans

anyway i hope you enjoy it and as usual if there is anything wrong like glitches or lags just let me know and ill fix and update ASAP.

just played your level and left a review....here is a copy.
" nice simple game! i liked it. all i would change is maybe the speed of block moving in and out " and since its a mini game if you still got space left on the thermometer perhaps add a little more detail in to design?

Was interested in checking out this level, I made a matrix themed level during the LBP2 beta and thought the new materials/effects would really suit the subject.
Some nice effects and good emulation of the original source material, really liked the computer typing dialogue, brought back memories of the first movie. left me wondering if the next level would be a film or gameplay based level? The stickers on the holo material didn't weren't as impactful as hand created content would have been. The gold standard in film trailers is the MM picked Watchmen film trailer, well worth checking out as a template.
A good solid film intro, will be interested in seeing which direction future levels take.

thanx for checking it out. to be honest im in between projects at the moment but doing a matrix themed level/movie was a big interest of mine...considering i aint seen anyone do a decent job of it yet. the next one is going to be another movie im afraid. first id like to see more interest in the project and then ill consider making a playable level. as for the stickers on the hologram...well i can understand what you mean about it not being as impactful as something selfmade BUT its supposed to be a homage to the original scene and in the movie neo is downloading images and information on morpheus and trinity while he is asleep so i wanted to capture that...its more real than me trying to hand create morpheus lol...im not sure how i could do that.

i queued your level...looks really good and will play it later tonight

I checked out your level. That was excellent work sir, I'm a fan of The Matrix and I thought you took the theme in an excellent direction. The ending was great too

It's a pity you overheated, I would definitely liked to have sees more.

EnochRoot mentioned The Watchmen, which really is absolutely brilliant. Also, if you haven't seen the Back to the Future themed movine in MM Picks, definitely worth checking out for more inspiration

thanx for checking out the level. im not much of a fan of watchmen but the mm pick level was brilliant...can't deny that. i didnt know there was a back to the future one but i will most definitely be looking for that.

at the moment im just trying to figure out which scene to do next or if i should just take the whole matrix theme and go with it and do something different. i was planning on doing both. i wanted to do the trinity help scene...like the lego version did but it would be alot harder on LBP and won't look as good.

im leaning towards doing the club scene when neo meets trinity..or neo's training agent training...the jump....or the lobby shoot out...

thanx dude...when making this i was wondering if i should do an exact remake of the scene but then i thought...well its little big planet...its the land of imagination...why not do something different.

im working on the next part which i assure you will be something special. but will take some time. so a little patience in the mean time if anyone has any suggestions on would like to see a certain scene from the film done in LBP style then let me know and ill do my best to do it. i occasionally play the level to check for bugs. originally there was a couple more dialogues but for some reason the they stopped working. i have no idea why. i tried to fix them but nothing worked but thankfully the movie looked fine without them lol.

anyway...thank you for taking the time to play

I really enjoyed this film, the design and poise of the scene was awesome and the entire time, it had a certain feel to it that made it somehow real in the sense of how a holywood film goes. It was really enjoyable and if you need some help with fitting more into you level try looking at this thread https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=52771. This is actually the way that the creator of the Watchmen trailer level did his level, he emmited his scenes and had them connected to inverted not gates so that they automatically started going through the connected movie cameras when they were emmited. Its also the same way I'm going to do with my level series. Good luck with your next level dude 2011-07-17 05:49:00

Thanks for the feedback of Cybernetic Adventures Epsilon. That was a fun movie you made.

VISUALS:
The level has a well made opening title and a room. It also has great effects. I'm expecting to see "The Matrix" stunts in this level, but oh well... maybe in your next level.

SOUND:
Good sound usage, and what an interesting way to come up with using the voice recording as a background music.

OVERALL:
It's a well made movie. A yay.

This has some well built set elements in it. I think that you could build on it some more and it'd be pretty amazing. I'm not a massive fan of using non LBP elements (like eyetoy photos) in levels, but other than that, well built and staged.

As for overheating, try to break each scene into a separate element and emit it, destroying it for the next part... you'd probably have more thermo space to play with. Although you do use a lot of decos.

You really went all out on the back of the monitor. It looks great!

If you feel like it; play my F4F Level in my sig.

" the real answer would be no...you can't BUT you can do it your own way which is what im doing. so a little patience and you'll soon see some more matrix movies coming your way

mr.fusion...you seem to be a regular here on the forums...ive seen your name floating about. ill queue up your levels and give them a play.

i really appreciate the feedback...i can take it and work on it. you and dracudelishio pretty much said the same thing...a winning idea...with some more work can be amazing, in a nutshell.

im not too familiar with the technique of capturing the scene sets and emitting them but im aware thats how dracudelishio made his watchmen movie...i got some tips and im experimenting with it. so the next one probably will have it...well i need it really because they need to be longer. i currently have two more matrix movies in the works. and ill soon be updating the current one and adding more once i get to grips with the technique mentioned. anywho ill be playing your levels shortly...oh yeh...a back to the future fan i see...definitely checking the levels out

It's a long time since I saw the Matrix, but I assume this must have been one of the opening scenes? Anyway, nice job with the cinematography...you seem to have the technique well sussed. The scene was was a bit short but worth watching just to see that white rabbit staring me down with it's malevolent gaze, which succeeded in being both creepy and hilarious at the same time. Nice work.

I was thinking, for future production you could work on an interactive scene that plays out in either of 2 ways, depending on whether the player accepts the red pill or the blue pill.

thanx for watching it man. yeh i wanted to play on the whole rabbit thing..being that the film has strong references to alice in wonderland and what not...i thought it would be a cool addition. and yes this was actually the opening scene of the film..neo falls asleep while downloading information and and images on morpheus and trinity

funny you should mention the whole interactive thing with the pills because i was thinking the same thing and i will be working on the idea for one of the next two movies i have planned.

Yeah I got the tips I gave you from seeing his work in create mode

I saw his efforts just after I finished the scenes in my level... And was like... Hmmm. Should have done that.

Having each scene self contained in an emitter cuts down on thermo, but the bigger benefit is that you can pull out a scene from a master sequencer, stop the sequencer, work on the scene 'live' without having to rewatch everything over and over.

The other big bonus is that is you put all the cameras on the scene as well as all the logic it's very easy to resequence the cutscene, as well as re-use scenes easily. As the sets become templates.

Well mr wolfy,i have now watch your movie!

Just brilliant!!!!! You do handle the camera and have eyes for details!
Only find two things that i didnt liked as mutch as the rest of the scene! One repeting zooming camera (It looked like that anyway) And the rabbit in the end was fun, but litte out of the picture i think!
This is short, but one of the best i have seen!
Hope for more soon!!

Great movie intro.

The detail was amazing i really liked what i saw. Its a pitty it was so short but i guess that is because of thermo issues.
Unfortunatley feedback wise theres not a lot i can say that hasn't already been said.

The rabbit was a little strange but left me desperatly wanting to see more. So great twit to the classic series.

The idea of Ungreth's is definatley a good one. An interactive movie would really be good, it would be like the Little big matrix version of heavy rain.

cant wait to see more.

Whoah, when you said short movie I didn?t expect it to be this short. Still, it's very well done. I like the plasma functioning as the letters of The Matrix and the whole scene, which is very much like Neo?s room. The nice twist at the end is very cleverly filmed. The really isn?t anything else to say about this level, but it is the best thing I've seen about the Matrix on LBP so far, so I guess your claim is right. I don't really have any constructive feedback on this level. It's executed perfectly. Great job!

If you have the time I?d like you to invite to play and give feedback on my level Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield (F4F):

P.S. I don't like rabbits either.
