Inglorious Space Battles (For 2 Players)

Archive: 8 posts

This is my first (of hopefully many) published level. It really started out by learning how to build objects (a rocket ship), but hten of course I wanted to make it work, so I added thrusters and a controllinator.

After that I thought it would be cool if it could shoot, and from there it turned into a mini thruster rocket shoot em up!

Start out on the launch pad.

Then shoot each other!

Fun little level.
At first I would spin uncontrollably... after, I realised I needed a lighter touch using the analog stick... I also like how you have designed the rocket ships; the whole level has a nice style about it. I can imagine it will be great laugh with two friends playing, alas I had to play as 'Jimmy-no-mates' swapping between rocket ships... (I don't think this is what the author intended)

How did you get the timer to countdown like that? (I'm still learning all the many facets of LBP2)

A nice little minigame which makes good use of rockets. I couldn't play a two player game unfortunately but it looks like fun. As said above the rockets are hard to control so maybe putting the steering onto the right stick?
If you get the chance, try out the level in my sig

The rockets are designed for a light touch, but I am wondering if I can limit the left and right thrusters to only fire in short bursts to prevent the spinning.

As for the countdown timer, if you mean the level time limit, that is just in the last page of tools, you can set a time limit for the level. There is also the score limit, which sort of counts up, set in the same place

Hey, i played with a friend today we had a laugh, and i think it has alot of potential. Its a great idea and fun to play but i think you should put a gyroscope on the rockets, and have it activate when you press L2, it seems natural. Because sometimes its alittle hard to get away from the corner. Maybe in future you could add power ups or something?

btw, love your psn name aha

*Btw maybe putting the friction down to 0 on the rockets? Might help them get away from the corners better

Thanks for the tips gigglecrab, I did have the idea to add powerups at a later date. So now that someone else has suggested it, it will be more likely I think the rockets do currently have 0 friction, but I've changed them a few times, so Ishould probably double check.

I haven't tried gyroscopes yet, so I will have a play and see what I can come up with.
