Cybernetic Adventures Epsilon: Neolantis
Archive: 20 posts
The fifth installment of my LBP2 level series takes you to an ancient ruins filled with gravitational changes, real water, some grappling hook gameplay, and much more. For those of you who played my other four "Cybernetic Adventures" levels may remembered the series' breathtaking layer glitches, cinematics that tells stories, hidden secrets, and amazing boss battles. Yep, still has those in this level. This is the first in the series that has an LBP1 background, as this level has the "temples" theme. In this level, there are gravity obstacles that will have you watch where you jump and drop. To know what gravity, there are three colors that you should know in this level which are Red (high), Blue (normal), and Green (low). Hope you enjoy this gravity-driven level. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35432 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35430 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35433 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35431 http://lbp.me/v/2xksyd | 2011-07-09 01:48:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
looks awesome and the story sounds intriguing. putting in the queue | 2011-07-09 03:27:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I liked it, Hearted it, yayed it all of that but heres what i think The story line was nice, I haven't played the others in what I assume are in the same series, but you definitely set it up well. The story was nice and easy to follow. The first thing that bothered me was the first song. It didn't seem to fit the level. It didn't change the gameplay at all thought. Speaking of which, the gameplay was interesting. You definitely have a different style. VIsuals were nice too. I liked how you incorperated 3D into it. The hologram was a nice touch also. In some levels, its either overused, and not used correctly, but this setting how you used it was perfect and it was perfect, even some more wouldn't be bad. Very nice job, I enjoyed it very much | 2011-07-12 06:10:00 Author: Stunkel Posts: 120 |
Hey JustinArt, this is another very good installment in your series. Nice storyline, funny characters and short & well-executed cutscenes that further the story (instead of just slowing down gameplay as they so often do). Really liked the gameplay on this one. The tweaking of gravity was very entertaining. Only gripe I have is with the puzzle. The controls on the floating pieces could be somewhat more streamlined. As it is now only the controls make it somewhat frustrating. Good bossfight too. (Most of the time I dislike bossfights, but this was entertaining.) Liked the visuals, especially on the underwater traject, nice combination of materials, good use of the layerglitches. Nice Statues. All in all, it had a good Jak& Daxter-feel to it. Great job. This is a real adventure, can't wait for Zeta. If you're up for F4F please try my latest: The Secret Workshop of Master Origami. | 2011-07-12 14:36:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Heyas again, Justin, Just finished this one up, so here goes. Good: You always do a good job of incorporating the extra layer glitch into your levels, and generally making them look nice. The gravity changes were a nice touch and allowed you to get more mileage out of the platforming sections and that's always a good thing. Also, the difficulty level seemed bumped up just a bit here, so there was a bit more of challenge, and i likes me a challenge. Not so good: The block-fitting puzzle was...i had a really hard time just adjusting a single piece (the hand kept wanting to move two at the same time, so tiny adjustments were almost impossible). i don't know how you've set up the logic in that one, so it's hard to give any advice. Weird/Ugly/Of Note: In the high gravity sections, sackthing seems to move really fast, is that an artifact of changing the global gravity, or something you've done to the sackbot? i want to incorporate a grav-section in my next stage, is all. i haven't started kltting up the logic for it yet, so i wonder what to expect. When you're dragging the key along, during the swimming section, keep in mind that it blocks the in/out plasma wall section (the one with the two open spaces for hiding), so that part's pretty well nerfed on the way out. Last...Mimi's voice is...well, it's ok in small doses... All in all though, i had a good time with this one. You've done a fine job again, man! Good day and great creating! | 2011-07-13 03:03:00 Author: waffleking23 Posts: 535 |

Well, I couldn't make the hand carry only one piece at a time, because it emits an invisible hologram material with a tag key. However, I do know is that the top left head and lower head can easily be moved at a same time. Maybe I should move the tag sensor on one of the pieces, so it won't accidentally be grabbed while you grab one of the pieces. I used the global gravity tweak to change the gravity, and I haven't even experiment it with the sackbots. I updated this level with a few added materials, faster hand during the statue puzzle part, and smoother rocks underwater. | 2011-07-14 16:23:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
You don't see many levels that use the gravity settings much and this level puts it to amazing use! You picked a great theme and fitted lots of great things into it, great sackbot characters, the part with the neon fish going into the temple looked amazing and the lighting inside adding a wonderful atmosphere. Gameplay to me was pretty unique! I loved all the changes to gravity especially on that virus boss dude near the end! I had the same problem pickled-punk about the puzzle thing, it got really annoying trying to get it into perfect shape with other bits shifting when trying to drag one piece below a few nodges up only to select the top bit and shift that.. but apart from that it's a excellent level, keep going with the awesome work! | 2011-07-14 22:34:00 Author: LordMagicPants Posts: 187 |

Thanks, LordMagicPants. I just updated this level with improvements involving the puzzle. I minimized the emitting invisible tag and the radius of the sensor, and I moved the switches of the sensors in a couple of pieces to prevent the puzzles from accidentally shifting two at a time. Hope this helps the puzzle part of this level. | 2011-07-15 23:52:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
Queued up and ready to go. Pics look awesome. EDIT: Just played this. A really enjoyable level with a clever use of the gravity tool. Also I particularly liked the path this level takes. It isn't straight linear. There is lots of activating switches to change areas that you have just been through. This makes for a much more interesting experience as opposed to just "pul a switch, walk through a door, pull a switch, walk through a door...". My only suggestion would be to tweek the jigsaw puzzle. I had trouble at this stage. I kept on grabbing the wrong block. Maybe add a space in the puzzle between blocks. All and all an enjoyable level. Smiley faced and hearted. | 2011-07-16 02:07:00 Author: MicGorbachev Posts: 372 |
Good level. The highlight will be the use of gravity, really clever and well done. The level is quite long, mabe just a little too long, but it's not that bad . There are a lots of ideas in it, and everything works well, with the exception of the puzzle. First, the camera change to slowly to reveal the entire puzzle. Then, well it's really difficult to select and move the correct pieces, especially when two of them are too close. the visuals are great, the scifi theme is good, and even if I did'nt played the first parts I enjoyed the little story. Overall it's a good level, some sequence needs polish like the puzzle, but I enjoyed it and rated it . I yoiu have the time to return the F4F favor, please check my BLOCKS level (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=60020-BLOCKS-1-PLAYER-ONLY-Puzzle-Platform-Exploration-level) ! i played this twice, once on my own and again last night with a friend. i had very little trouble in single player until i got to the puzzle with giant pieces - the cursor was seriously refusing to work for me even when i moved the other pieces away (after 20mins i gave up). the second time was much better though and we had a lot of fun. the gravity or lack of is really the best part of the whole level its done so well that you have to wonder why more levels don't experiment with it. the look of the level was really stunning and the 3D really works where you included it, some levels over do 3D but it works perfectly here. the story and the setting were really well thought out with some clever dialogue and characters. i don't know if it happened to anyone else but when we got to the fish (boat?) it wouldn't bring us both across instead it loaded the different global lighting and colour for the area we should have been in - after both dieing a few times we were transported to the other side with the puzzle. the hydra too is very hard to defeat with more than one player because the jumping has to be in sync with the other player or the one highest pops and dies, we didn't give up though we kept going at it and finished the level. the only thing i'd really highlight as a problem was the puzzle, it was very unresponsive when trying to complete and i think most people would have rage quited after the first 5 minutes. other than that its excellent and so unique - well done = ) http://i3.lbp.me/img/ft/bc374cdebfbaa88b914c8ae49fdb0020d8ca36e8.jpg happy in the knowing i killed the Hydra = ) | 2011-07-17 14:01:00 Author: lisatiffany Posts: 55 |
just played it. well done. its good and i enjoyed it. but the puzzle bit wasn't working for me at all. the movement was a little slow and they just wouldn't fit in where id put it! like something was blocking it. other than that it was fun playing this https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59641-the-matrix-has-sackboy... | 2011-07-17 15:19:00 Author: wolfy_616 Posts: 202 |

Yikes! I can't believe the puzzle part still troubles players after all that tweaking. Just to make it up, I'll make the puzzle easier and a lot less frustrating. Trying to figure it out, though. Thanks for the good feedbacks, MicGorbachev, Slurm, lisatiffany, and Wolfy_616. EDIT: I just changed the puzzle part of this level. Instead of six pieces to place, there are now four pieces and the other two old ones have already been attached to the silhouette. Hope everybody's happy about this good change. | 2011-07-17 23:37:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
I have played the whole series so far and they were all great. This one was no exception. I enjoyed the scenery. Very well done. I especially liked the different uses of gravity. Different concept. Gameplay and story ran smoothly like the other parts. Boss battle was fun and enjoyable. I did not find any issues with this level. Overall, great job. Thanks for creating and sharing this series. My F4F level is Neptunia. You can find it in my signature. | 2011-07-20 21:23:00 Author: Garak101 Posts: 101 |
A level full of gravity innovation, it was fun to play with the gravity. This level also have a nice use of the extra layer tool. Good work | 2011-08-03 00:35:00 Author: TUL10 Posts: 61 |
I have one question. I want to play all the levels in order, but which one is the first one? EDIT: Ignore that. I have found them, and they are all queued up. (I have more than 100 queued levels, so the reply will take a long time. ) | 2011-08-03 18:59:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Just played through this level and though it was awesome, loved the puzzles and especially the changes in gravity made it very interesting!! If you wouldn't mind could you check out my level? https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=60871-Psy-Sack-The-Telekinetic-Sackboy | 2011-08-04 13:36:00 Author: Jordanmcc Posts: 94 |
Hey, this was one long level! I hope i've remembered everything. Some clever obstacles in here, particularly the first moving wall with the rotating sponges was well done, the gravity puzzles also, don't think i've seen a puzzel involving gravity till i saw this. The only things i noticed was the part with the spinning star, where you have to lower the gravity, you can just jump over it with enough trys. And the boss at the end deserves a better death, apart from that it was a pretty cool level. Nice atmosphere & lighting also | 2011-08-07 15:44:00 Author: gigglecrab Posts: 232 |
I feel that the visuals are a little basic towards the beginning, it doesn't help make a good first impression to what is actually a pretty great level, but I imagine not much can be done about this due to thermo (judging by the length of the level). Camera angles on the boss were a little awkward, it was hard to see what you're doing on the final phase, and in multiplayer players would respawn and kill the leading player, which was frustrating. | 2011-08-07 16:14:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
Thanks for the feedbacks, everyone. I just updated this level with more visuals and better camera angle at the last part of the boss battle. That's not all, I replaced a single controlinator teleport logic with the multiplayer one (same goes with Gamma and Delta). I also updated the other four Cybernetic Adventures levels with a few changes including Phoenix's voice in Alpha, crayon grass stickers from Toy Story level kit added to Beta, Stickers and Decorations back on the creatinators in Gamma after a strange freeze glitch has been fixed, and a new material added to Delta. I'm 80% done with Zeta, so it should be published at the end of August. | 2011-08-16 00:28:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
