Problem publishing

Archive: 16 posts

Hi, I'm rather new to creating and publishing levels to the lbp community. I recently made a versus level on lbp2, but when I publish the level it doesn't appear on the community.

When I search the levels name, "Little BIG Aztec Maze" it doesn't appear, nor does it appear when I search my username. Am I doing something wrong when publishing? Sorry if it's a simply, stupid question but I'm just curious. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

I know this has already been kinda solved, but you can just go:

[Press square to go to pod computer] --> ME [on the right] --> My earth [Top left]... and you'll see all your levels published/your profile!

There's been a bug in the in-game search engine for about a week. From another post (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59150-LBPC-Crown-Contest-1-List-of-Entrants&p=878684&viewfull=1#post878684)...

...I think the text search is only returning LBP1 levels regardless of the search criteria.

As a workaround, you can go to Cool Levels, press triangle, and use the "filter by text" option to get all the results.

Searched by text search, cool pages and LBP.me?

It will, trust me.

Here's the problem I now have with publishing levels.

I thought newly published levels go to the top of the "Cool Levels" pages on LBP2, but I only see levels with hundreds and even thousands of plays. Am I missing something here? How can the new levels get any plays to begin with? Every user is advertising their levels? I just need a mere 11 plays (level in my signature) to get a trophy.

I've published the Pong level months ago, and I've been updating it every once in a while and adding new features (first was a proper title screen, then a menu screen, and then, difficulty settings). Now, I know there are far better levels out there (Pong reloaded comes to mind), but I didn't whore out to the H4H "community", and I certainly deserve at least a bronze trophy because I actually put real effort in my level. Oh well... what can a guy do?

I can only say for sure that new levels appear, very briefly, in the ever-cascading list of Newest Levels under Community > Search > More. You have to publish your level then scramble to that list within a minute to see it on the first page of results. Refresh a minute later, and it's gone.

To get plays, you have to constantly spam-publish your level. After two or three plays, other fresh publishers who are checking out their own level on the list might see yours has gotten some plays already, and give it a try. It's human sheep behavior. "Hey, all of these have zero plays, but this one has two plays and a Yay, I'll try it!" After a few days of doing this, you can hope for a few fans who hearted the level to bring their friends in. Other friends then see their friends' recent activity and play as well. They may also heart a level, or Yay it, and more folks will follow. There's a tipping point, somewhere in the range of about 200 plays, where a level will sustain itself. But it requires diligent "play farming" by publishing the level constantly, reviewing and hearting other players (to attract them to your level in response), boosting, and baiting or trickery if you're willing. It's a crap system that's easily exploited by those who wish to exploit it, sadly.

I hate to say it, but if the trophy matters, you might consider farming a few plays. Then you can re-evaluate the worth of playing LBP2 for joy without having the carrot or sense of lacking achievement related to stats and trophies. I know having 100% of trophies for both games, I am happiest playing just for me! Just don't ask me what horrible, depraved acts I had to perform to get there, hehehe.

Wow. Thanks for the reply. So it seems accumulating plays for your levels is part of the challenge... although, I have to say I overlooked the "Newest Levels" section. At least I can relax a bit, knowing that if I keep republishing my level it will appear up there (even if it's just for a brief moment).

However, I don't care that much for the trophy. It's just that I'm so close to plat LBP2, that I'm a bit desperate and I want people to play my level. With that being said, it's really fun and interesting to create stuff in this game, and it's been the only game I play for quite some time. So I will still be hooked to LBP2, even if I get the Plat trophy
