Just released videos for the upcoming PlayStation 3 versions of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Since I never finished Ico and was only borrowing it at the time I might download it depending on the price. I'm interested as this is a PS2 game how they've got it working on PS3s that lack backward compatability. Have parts of the game engine been rewritten or something?

They are not PS2 games, they are PS3 games with slightly upgraded PS2 assets, i.e. they had to do a port to the PS3. These are two of my favorite games. I still have the PS2 versions and 3 PS2s plus a backward compatible PS3 I can play them on; whether I pick this up depends on how much they improve the textures, etc. SoTC has some noticeable frame rate issues on the PS2, this may be worth getting just to play without any slowdown.

The resolution alone is worth buying the HD collection for, let alone any bonuses on the textures. Seriously cant wait for this.
