Help with Various Problems?

Archive: 4 posts

Hey all, flyinhawaiian here with some questions/help requested.

1. and 2. : For my superhero level, I'm trying to implement a shield that stops my custom projectiles, and a power the requires you to pickup a rare item, and you get one use of the power. I have gotten both of these to work, with sound effects even, but when the sackbot dies, the power and shield do not work, everything goes haywire, etc. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Cheers, flyinhawaiian

EDIT: TO elaborate, with the shield, i want it to be active for a few seconds, then inactive for a bit. Also, the power up has an indicator to show if you can use it.

I would not place the logic for that on the bot, but instead on a piece of holo following it. So, the state of everything gets stored and remembered.2011-07-07 22:12:00

Sounds to me that you need to get a wireless setup on your shield and powerup so if the sackbot dies, the next life (new sackbot) can control it also, I ran into this problem too with my jaksackbot not working after it died, you need to create your logic so it can be controlled by the next sackbot if the first one dies.2011-07-07 22:17:00

I'm assuming you're emitting your sackbot? Emitters can often malfunction if the object they're emitting doesn't have a 'hard' copy somewhere within the level (or saved in your objects section of popit?). If you have all of your logic on the sackbot's circuit board then this is likely what the problem is. The most common thing I find is that if you try to edit the components of an emitted object that has malfunctioned you'll find they're effectively superglued onto the circuit board - they don't budge.

What Antikris suggests is the best course of action, having an invisible hologram means the logic will be constant throughout the level and you don't have to worry about emitters failing.
