Journey to the Puppet Palace

Archive: 21 posts

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoy this! I worked really hard on it! It's all music made by me except for two of the songs which were made by Comishguy67 and Andrewrajcoomar! (Please see what they have to play they make good stuff!) Also I would appreciate it if you guys were to give feedback and let me know of any problems and anything that may annoy you or may annoy others! Thanks guys!

Hello there.... better late than never I suppose.

Can't believe more people haven't replied to this thread, given the amount of plays it has.

Great level. I hearted it, and not because you hearted mine (I'm not some petty H4H-er).

Ok, my feedback:

-First of all, you made a spelling mistake in your level description - it says "muvh fun", instead of "much fun".
-Some of your puppets seem very similar to Terrence and Phillip from South Park.... is that what you were going for?
-Nice music, and generous of you to give some of it away. I mean, what's the point of making music and not sharing it?
-There is a music sequencer visible just after the first bridge. I don't know whether that's intentional or not, but thought I should point it out.
-Making some of the prize bubbles look like berries on the tree was a nice little touch.
-The music in the 2nd part of the level was VERY laggy at times, and it did dampen the enjoyment a little.
-Boss fight - I've already voiced my general disdain for boss fights in general, because I die a lot.... and this one was no different. I'm not gonna mark you down because of that though, because it was well-made.

All in all, a very good level. It looks nice, it plays nice, it sounds nice. Well done

Hi, these are my thoughts about your level:

Pros:
- The visuals.
- The fingers mini-game. It could be an independent level!
- The final boss.

Cons:
- Maybe a bit too long.
- The music in the second part is a bit laggy (I agree the previous comment).

Please leave me feedback at my level https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56955-Math-Millionaire-Quiz

An expertly designed platformer with undeniable charm. The custom music adds to the puppet theme of the level. I do agree that it may be a bit too long, but its better than being too short. The music does lag on the second part, as mentioned above. Overall though it's a brilliant level that uses it's puppet theme to great effect. 9/10, smiley faced and hearted.2011-07-09 16:57:00

I played this level last night, and it's a good platforming fun.

VISUALS:
You visuals seem to improve since your LBP1 levels. The puppets look neatly made, and the corner edits are well designed. The first sub level has a very good theme park style.

SOUND:
Good creative custom musics. Yeah, I agree...the music is lagging.

GAMEPLAY:
The platforming of this level is very fun. There's a lot to do in this level including using R1 to kill evil puppets, ride a roller coaster, and defeat the boss.

OVERALL:
A fun platformer. A yay.

As a reply to everyone, i think almost any song i used would've made it laggy, should I just use a song from the story mode? and thank you for all of your reviews, I will get right on the Feedback for feedback thingy

I really read Puppy Palace the first time I saw this thread, so I thought: 'Nah, I'm not gonna play that level'. Now I read Puppet Palace and witness the amount of plays and hearts I'll definitely reconsider this. I queued it and will play it tomorrow.

If you'd like to play my level after I fixed it tomorrow, that would be awesome. Please leave some feedback too.

You could just use a less intensive song, something with only 1 or 2 instruments. But if that fails, I think you shoud just go for one of the default songs. There's no point having a song over the top if you can't hear it properly because of the lag. You should just save that song for another level.

Heyas Stunkel!

Gave the puppet palace a run through yesterday, and i have to say i had a pretty good time of it. The stage had a lot of charm, and i really liked the mix of gameplay elements (i think my favourite might be the kill the Red-Eyed mitten puppets bit). Also, the explosive "Box over the head" sackboys were creepy and cool.

As far as negatives go, nothing too serious. Some of the music in the first section could get a little repetitive, especially since it seemed to trigger every time you entered an area, instead of triggering and then looping until you get to the next musical section. Sometimes i'd hear the music cut and jump to the beginning 4 or 5 times, because i was missing jumps. Also, again a music issue, but, i could hardly hear the song in the amusement park section at lall. It kept skipping and cutting out.

Still, the stage had a lot of charm and that goes a long way in my book. The gameplay, also, was solid and varied, and that's maybe the biggest point of all, yeah.

Well done, here.

If i could trouble you then, to give my "Bloomin' Oni-ons!"stage a run, and drop off a little feed back here: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59257-Bloomin-Oni-Ons! i'd really appreciate it.

Good day and great creating!

Hey there! I'm going to review your level now

Positives:
+ The visuals were very detailed
+ The platforming was easy, but brilliant
+ One of the best boss fights i've ever seen! Very original

Negatives:
- i felt like the themes didn't blend good together. Even though the amusement park was awesome, it just didn't go together with the wood/canyon theme.
- the boss fight was cool, but also somewhat long. It would also be good if you just have to grab the stuff 2 times

Verdict:
[8/10] good job

Yes, now that I think about it, an amusment park doesnt roll well with... well whatever my theme was. I should've just used it in some other level, whenever my next level is, well see o.O. Also the boss fight, would just four hits be good? right now there are 6, and two seems a little short. Let me know please. And thanks for the review!

I played this a while back, but since I don't remember much about it, I'll play it again.

(Edit (again...): I think I'll review here! I have a laptop right next to my PS3. Why not? )

In return, if you could, could you please leave some feedback on this level?

Thank you! (:

(Edit!: Ack! I forgot to give my board link. /new at this)

That was wonderful!

Pros:
The visuals were superb. Felt very LBP1-y at times, but it's a refreshing change!
The platforming was great! It was all very original and well done!
The music really tied everything together!

Cons:
There aren't very many, here!
The boss seamed (Bad-um-csh) like he took way too many hits. The first 2 things you would have to grapple took 1 hit, then the rest took 2. Was kinda annoying.
The music in the second part was making me and my friend lag, a lot. It also skipped quite a few notes and was just odd while lagging.
While being fun, the amusement park part was not very fitting. :/

I honestly can't think of anything else! Wonderful work from an awesome creator.

Can't wait to see more work from you.

Ah, okay. (:

I don't care about when it happens. Just, whenever you get around to it and your network is working again.

I still owe you a review, I believe and I'm glad I chose to still play this level, as it was really worth it.

The concept was very original - hand puppets taking over the land - and fits perfectly into LBP. In terms of gameplay, the level felt very original. The pacing was just right and it was not unnecessarily hard hard or anything. I only think the boss became a little repetitive if you know what I mean. Killing him just seems to take forever. Other than that, this level was just a really great level to play. It was fun and luckily it didn't have anything to do with puppies . (No offense, I like puppies, but they wouldn't actually have an added value in this game).

One thing that really caught my attention was the music. The custom track fit the Journey perfectly. Well done.

If you have the time, why don't you play and review my level:

Thanks for the full review ^_^ And I agree, puppies would not go well with the level -_- but I have been way too lazy and need to get around to fixing the boss up to make it shorter. It's a bit annoying because half of the players say too short, too long. But I am going with the people on LBPC Anyways, thanks again!

PS: I'm glad you liked the music ^-^ those are my favorite compliments to get
