Hi, with the recent sale on the PSN store I purchased the Fat Roles DLC. Been on other sites but no one has signed up yet so I thought I'd try here instead. If it goes well I may hold more sessions.

I tried Fat Princess again recently. Still fun, but most people have left it and now it's usually 5 actual players, then the rest are bots2011-07-06 12:18:00

Hi,
Had a good session and dominated with a good tactic in my last session, from a few on other forums I'm on. No one could take our Princess or get theirs back. So, if you missed out I will be hosting most Mondays and Tuesdays every week (until interest dies down). Just send me a friend request and stating you're from the forums for Fat Princess.

Mondays from 8pm-10pm (UK, GMT time)
Tuesdays from 8pm-10pm (UK, GMT time)

Yeah. 3 DLC owners V no DLC owners. That was fair.

Now I remember why I stopped playing this - One team always just dominates the other. The first game felt close, despite the red team being OP, but in the second game the Blue Team got steamrolled. Bandwagon hoppers ruin any chance of a fair fight.
Also, nobody on the Blue Team on a mic, except me.

It's all down to team work and tactics. Even with the DLC I had we still managed to loose some later on against those without the DLC. But we managed to win 90% of the time. With all online games there is always only one team that can win. Wether its Halo Reach, Call of Duty or Fat Princess. Even if a team dominates I still play, it's part of the fun.

But yes the mic thing is very annoying. Sony should have done what Microsoft did with each console and actually supply you with a headset. It makes a huge difference to online play especially to team based/objective ones.Lucky people actually listened to us and my other buddy backed me up with our tactic meaning no one could take our princess or get her back. But after a few the other team got clever and started teaming up with the wizard to freeze us all along with a warrior to take us out. Giving them more time to get the princess out our castle. It actually worked. We lost, but you win some and loose some.

Next time you can change sides and make sure you join my team. It's in the manage/change options. You'll at least have 3 people on mics and friends to play with (me). Giants can be killed easily as their health is different and cannot regenrate, hence why I made sure a Priest was with me to heal me.

But that just makes it worse. The idea is to balance the teams, not just have one team win '90% of the time'. It didn't matter what team I was on - The blue team would've gotten steamrolled.

And of course only one team can win, that's a bit... patronising, no? My point isn't that one team lost, it's that there's really no chance for them to win. Some players on the red team should've grown some balls and moved to the blue team.

I tried to move over when my buddy moved over to your team but it wouldn't let me? It may have been because I was hosting it. Sorry I wasn't trying to be patronising, just trying to get across that it's part of the fun. As for balance, I think it's more to do with team work and tactics hence why we won a lot. But it didn't help that no one on your side had mics. Sometimes you get paired with bad team mates that just go off and do their own thing and get killed all the time (yes I am guilty of doing that sometimes when no one else seems to be sticking with me), that is definitely a more of unfair advantage. One of the reasons I stopped playing it ages ago. I also noticed a few or your members on their own or going off in twos then splitting up and getting killed as the other one was nowhere near to help in time. Not fair I agree.
Due to the sale on the DLC I strated playing it again.

It is still a very good game and lots of fun, if not just pure mayhem on team deathmatch. One of the reasons I like your Fluffination level.

There's a sale on the DLC? Is that on now, or was that a while ago? And how much is/was it?2011-07-13 12:37:00

You missed it, it was called the 'PSN Loves DLC SPECIAL OFFERS' 24th June – 6th July . Right there on the first page of the PSN store, got it for ?1.99, there was a sale on a lot of DLC including Ghostlight Ltd, Capcom, Rockstar, Namco, 2k games, SEGA, Ubisoft etc... quite big.

UPDATE: I also found that saying thank you to other team mates after they did something good or helped me meant they kept doing it even though they didn't have a mic, they could still hear me. I also said a warning of when the other team was coming in towards our castle or teaming up.

Decided to purchase the DLC today, regardless of the full price. The DLC classes are certainly a huge factor in the winning team. The Pirate and Giant are just unstoppable. The Pirate makes the Ranger pretty much obsolete, and certainly makes for a tough fight against Warriors. The Giant is a bit boring, but still fairly untouchable. And I felt the Ninja was a bit useless, bar it's invisibility power.

The DLC is a much bigger influence in what team wins than communication. Fat Princess just isn't deep enough for strategy or teamwork to have a significant impact.

I?d have to somewhat agree & disagree with you. As for the normal classes, they have a bigger influence if used correctly. Same for the DLC Giant, Pirate and Ninja classes, work best if used correctly.

For example, the DLC giant class isn't fully unstoppable. Too many times I've seen people storm off as a Giant then die a minute later. The best way to use a giant is to team up with a Priest to restore it's health since it drains quicker and has less health to start with. The only way to gain a fraction of health is to eat people, but you can only do this once your special power meter is full from hitting/killing others, at the risk of your health. So when teamed with a priest, yes the giant is untouchable. Then they started catch on and start attacking you. But I think we did it quite well in our match yesterday

The Ninja, I fully agree with you. His normal attack isn?t very strong or effective. But his charged attack is better. With all the commotion going on it's hard to get a stealth assassination by turning invisible and sneaking up behind without blowing it. The invisible attack also drains a bit too quickly.

The Pirate is good but many times I've seen people use the special bomb attack and accidentally take out others in their team due to splash damage. If used correctly, yes it definitely makes a tough fight. This special attack can only be used once when the special attack bar is full. Whereas the Ranger can use his bombs one after the other when upgraded and your attack is charged. But I don't think his normal and charged are as strong as the warriors. Pirate-uses bomb attack after a long period as opposed to more frequent smaller bombs of the Ranger.

DLC helps to a degree, but if used properly and if others stick with you and help, regardless of communication. But when people do have mics or those that don't can hear you, it helps get things done for example, when I say things like ?we need to upgrade the catapult or help me I need a priest lets storm the castle? I just hope others listen and come to help. But it's not always the case.

Sorry for such a long post but since I got the DLC I've got back into the game and love it. It was also great fun teaming up with you and a few others, we did very well in the matches we played. Although I have a feeling a lot of the players may have been AI bots at times.

May be we should just rush the castle as soon as the match starts next time before anyone has a chance to do anything or even feed the Princess and steal her and run back. See what happens. Jump the wall from a high point or before they build the doors. That would be funny.

I'll be on again Mon/Tues.
