Valley of the wolves

Archive: 8 posts

Hi im sorta new to this site but hve noticed its top quality lol.

basically im planning on making a series of mafia/deep government ( in Turkey) levels. its got nothing to do with Wolves lol but i thought the name represents that world well.

I want to make a looong series of levels with an engaging storyline that bears some resemblance to the truth and has exciting finishes. In each level I want to have at least 1 or two quality scripted events.I want this series to be a real classic Ive played a few 'mafia' levels and have been really dissapointed with the quality. The two main things im focusing on are:

Quality all over

Engaging storyline and script

I want this to sort of be my mini film LOL

Sounds great Kaplan. Check your visitor messages, I left something for you there. I would encourage you to just get started on it and get a feel for the whole creation process. The rest should come on it's own

Btw, are you Turkish? I love Turkish food lol.

When I go about making a level I always scribble stuff down on paper. Although it's no full substitute to building stuff in create mode, it can help you think of what sort of thing you are trying to do before you build it.

I've gotten use to create now. What I do is write out some schematics for the objects I want to use, write down the story, then start building it, at first roughly and then putting in all the details.

I'll then go back and give the whole thing a solid thrashing to try and make sure it all works as intended. Certainly one might miss some stuff, but it can help make the level more accepted by others.

That's how I do it though, other people have different methods. To learn how to use the create mode properly though is quite time consuming, and there are all sorts of little tricks that you can learn from others as well as with what you can come up with yourself.

A lot of what I learnt was from trying to recreate complex objects that MM gives us. You can usually see the switches and settings they have, and it can help you to grasp why it does this or that as well as just plain trying to copy what they have done.

If you need help trying to do something, feel free to ask in the Help section of this forum. There are all sorts of good articles that are stickied, and you can always ask questions if things are not covered there.
