Best DLC for level creators?

Archive: 19 posts

Not sure if this is the right place for it, also im new here (so, hai all ;p)

Only got into LBP a bit under a month ago (PSN offer), loved it, bought LBP2, love it...

What Id like to know is (and yes I did look around, but anything touching on this topic hasnt helped me much), which DLC offers the best boost for level creators? Seems like LBP2 included some things which would have made certain DLC packs a great buy (Water is default, controlinator is much like the paintinator :s etc).

Its hard to get reviews which really detail what exactly your getting, so I figured I ask those who may have bought them and can give their own opinion.

So to clarify, Ive no DLC at present and Id love to grab 1 or 2 of the best DLC which specifically enhances level creation (cool material and items topping the list). Thanks for your help!

For materials, I suggest the pirates of the caribean pack as the top. it also comes with some nice water sound effects. stickers are also useful, and the vera bee pack is especially great for those nature decorations such as vines, ivy, ect. The team ico costume pack, although i dont't have it. if you buy all the costumes as a whole, you get some really nice nature sound effects2011-07-05 05:47:00

Basically any of the level kits will give you useful build materials, as well as great stickers from the Verabee and Jon Burgerman packs. Some of the costume packs include stickers, and sound fx as mentioned above, but only if you buy the whole pack.2011-07-05 07:20:00

Not to demote the importance of stickers and sfx, but since I don't want to buy loads of packs, my priorities would be mats and objects. So whatever pack tops the prettiest or most useful mats/items is it.

And I've been so caught up in LBP these last few weeks I missed the news that crysis finally got it's s@!# together, with it's Sdk, dx11 and hi-res pack released... So. Much. Editing ! !

I'd say the move pack when it comes out. But the POTC pack is pretty sweet. Also, not sure if it comes standard now with LBP1 but make sure you've grabbed the free creators pack. Probably don't need to, but yeah.

Marvel pack has some nice stickers also. (not the body parts)

Hmmm... really tough question. I have them all and use bits from everything all the time. POC certainly is a great one, but I'd have to really go poking around to make any decent recommendations myself.

I'd suggest hitting up the Wiki and go through the packs and their list of contents there.

Edit: Nevermind, my mistake. I thought they would have had pictures up on the Wiki by now that showed the various things you get with the packs. Move along... nothing to see here folks. :S

I'd suggest picking it on what style of creating you're going to be making. If you prefer to have a futuristic feel, maybe the MGS pack (But LBP2 has more than enough materials for these types) Or the POTC if you like to make sort of jungley levels. also, why not try the incredibles/history/monsters packs, they have some good materials2011-07-05 11:38:00

Sounds like a project... all the DLC pics could easily be ripped from the official LBP website (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en/game_guide/ps3/downloadable_content/P0/).

I haven't poked my head into the wiki in quite some time, it could use some TLC and expansion of content.

As to the OP, I'd browse the site and look for stuff you like. The POC and MGS DLC are must-haves, and the incredibles/Marvel level kits come with some great music, materials, decorations and stickers, too. Also, download all the free stuff and Creator Pack 1 if you haven't already. If you want all the music, the music pack is a must-have too.

I would definitely look into either the POTC or the Incredibles pack. In my honest opinion, I think both of those pack have useful materials and items in them.2011-07-05 15:36:00

The Pirates of the Carribean pack, the Metal Gear Solid pack, and the History and/or Incredibles' packs.

The POTC pack and the MGS pack both come with nice gameplay enhancers which is why I would pick them up. By buying each, you'll get access to water, the paintinator, many new materials, and some stickers as well.

The History pack or the Incredibles' pack would just be a little, unnecessary bonus.

Hey guys, thanks for the msgs and links, am gonna go thru them now and pick some

Nice to see this place is alive and well, in years past Ive been apart of far too many very dull game forums which you would nearly faint if you got a single reply!!

I must say the large brick material from PotC (at least I hope thats where its from!) looks really awesome, thats what got me searching in the first place to find it!

So cheers all XD Feel free to say hi in game (lovin these emoticons!)

I'm thinking the 2 big level kits are for you. I personally prefer a full pallette, so I try to pick up every single piece of DLC I can.2011-07-05 21:47:00

Best for mechanical/ modern levels: Metal Gear Pack
Best for natural levels: Pirates of the Caribbean Pack (or the move pack, when it comes out.)
Best for Japanese samurai/ninja levels: Ragdoll kung-fu (costume) and History Kit

but the best that you can do is that in the case that you haven't played through LBP1, you should. the levels/story prizes are more generic than LBP2's. plus you could get Game of the year edition, which comes with multiple packs, prepaid.

Thank this post if you bought EVERY SINGLE LEVEL KIT/STICKER KIT available in PS store! I did, it's well worth what I paid for. Also costume packs aren't that bad to buy when you can dress sackbots up according to the theme of your 'to be published' level. Personally I don't think there are good or bad DLC packs. They're all quite nice.2011-07-05 22:01:00

Yep, I have every single DLC short of a few limited and release items. I love having a (nearly) full pallette to work from. Whether it be stickers and materials, or cool costume pieces. I get costume packs even if I don't like the costumes, but I will alwas like at least one piece from the pack, and my gf will probably like the rest of the pieces. Definitely money well spent.

I tend not to use my money on costumes, i wear them for a day or two then revert back to my beta vest But i do have all the level packs

I could never do with just one costume piece, I dress my sackbot to how I wish I could dress in real life, and I'm pretty sure if I walked around wearing only a vest it's illegal, especially with so many little kids around!

Just wanted to mention I went with mgs and potc packs, liked the textures a lot so that's really what sold it to me. Happy with purchase even if the lvls weren't great (mgs ones were ok I guess) and thanks to lbninja who was very awesome and helped me get the X4 potc stuffs =]

And even if nobody cared, I thought it good practice to do this follow-up! The amount of times I've gone searching a solution to something, seeing a thread about exactly my problem and then seeing post #2 is the OP saying he solved it........... AND the solution was......? Don't do that internet, it's mean! !
