Profile Reset (Lost All Work Back to June 6th)

Archive: 5 posts

Hi. I loaded my Playstation 3 up the other day after finally finishing my latest level the night before and turning it off safely only to be greeted by the

'Would you like to import your LBP1 profile?"

So my profile randomly reset itself. All data was lost. I had made a backup June 6th, but I lost all of my levels I had been working on for an entire month. All my saved costumes, stickers, objects, pins, EVERYTHING earned or obtained between now and June 6th is gone.

Is this normal?

I'm not that bummed about it because it's just LittleBigPlanet and I don't care much, but my friends who were working with me on the level were pretty upset. Why does this happen? How do I prevent a profile reset in the future?

I shouldn't have to constantly backup my profile everytime I play... does Media Molecule just suck at coding or what?

I've gone from the opinion that "MM isn't 'too' interested in fixing everything in LBP2", to "they used too much of LBP1 in LBP2 and are sick of it"...

I'm guessing that most glitches are a result of the backwards compatibility. That's just a hunch though.

The only solution is to backup every few days. Once you get into the habit of doing it, it's actually not a hindrance at all (only takes ~ 10-30 seconds, but can save you days of work).

I've had this happen to me on three separate occasions, and know for a fact that it's plagued others. There simply is nothing we can do to avoid it, and can only perform regular backups as SSTAGG1 wisely suggests. It seems completely random if I'm to judge from my own experience.

Sorry to hear about your loss though.

this sort of happened to me for the first time a few days ago. I only lost the story mode data though and all my pins randomly. All my moon work wasn't effected which helps immensely. I've learned to back up as the last thing i do before turning the computer off after a day of creating. Have a pen drive handy and whack it in when u turn LBP on for a creating sesh, then its literally 'go to pod > square > back up the level. Plus only about 30 seconds to back up ur profile. Create an archive on your computer with labeled folders with dates and level version numbers, also helps greatly in backtracking if you've gone down a path that really hasn't turned out well.

really does save allot of heartache, as i've known a few people that have had it happen to them too.

Yeah see, I back up important documents, music, videos, and pictures all the time.

But this is a video game I spent $60 on.. not a beta. I'm disappointed in Media Molecule for a bug of this caliber to still be present after 6-7 months of the full game being distributed via retail.

If media molecule fails to address this issue, or at LEAST admit that it exists without player error, then I'm gonna have to just start playing Killzone or something cause that's just pure ignorance.
