LBP2 1.04 update rolled out

Archive: 49 posts

Hi guys,

I've just downloaded the 1.04 update. Is it just a point update for the score glitchers? Does it change anything else? I've seen nothing official from MM yet. People with information please enlighten us!

It's a small update, said 12mg when I loaded up LBP2 not too long ago. But I've not seen anything official yet.2011-07-04 16:43:00

Hey you can download a ROM of Super Mario 64 for less than that!

They could put lots of bug-fixes in there indeed. I don't think the LBP2 executable is much more than 12 MB. Of course don't know average exe sizes for PS3 games but hey.. 2011-07-04 17:44:00

wasn't the POTC pack less than 12mb? May be mistaken. It would be nice if they'd do an official announcement before it's released or at least the same day so I'm not surprised when I boot up my game2011-07-04 17:50:00

Overlord glitch is a bug, we should name it bug to begin with. Glitch as a term is little overused, glitch is a random bug not caused by the code but hardware interference, this is hole in the code

If it's not a bug fixing then it's mostlikely a DLC data

Maybe the lag? I'm not sure if anyone else had the lag problem I encounter everytime I'm not the host, but I'm not 100% sure, there's only 0% chance that's the problem fixed, because last time there wasn't lag, just like playing in Singleplayer, I guess the update is nothing, oh.2011-07-04 19:55:00

I'm sorry if I'm off-topic but I downloaded that free costume in the playstation store it said it's compatible with LBP2, so when I try to put an object that is related to that costume it says : you do not own the costume pack, even though I own it.2011-07-04 20:24:00

Yeah, still no update on the Mm blog... Oh, I did notice a bug. After the patch, when spawning in create mode, the camera jitters. It also does this if you stay in the bottom- left corner of the level. 2011-07-05 01:06:00

If I'm not mistaken, they fixed the randomizer. What used to be wrong with it is it only generated a random selection when it was placed down. Meaning no matter what you do, when you enter the level it will always be the same output (both the first selection and each one following) from the randomizer.

Edit:
Never mind. It worked fine for a while then it started using the same patterns again.

DLC content everybody downloads in patches, because obviously if you didn't you wouldn't be able to play levels that had that DLC in. You just download a little activation key so you can create with that content.

Is it really too hard for someone (Media Molecule, Sony, or whatever) to give us some insight on what is in the update?

Even if it is just DLC, It'd be nice to know if there are any bug fixes. The did it with the other three updates (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en/game_guide/ps3/updates/), I don't see why they should stop now.

I don't know if this is random, but after I updated "Cybernetic Adventures Gamma", I play tested it and my PS3 froze right where I reached the first creatinator. It happened again when I tried collecting it in create mode. I don't know if this has to do with this 1.04 update because it worked fine before, so for now I need to lock this level until the freezing glitch is fixed. Just hope Mm can fix this soon.2011-07-05 22:51:00

Nice level plug, you iconoclast.

...but yeah, I had a similar issue when I was in Create. Game froze me as I was corner editing a lovely chunk of stone. I promptly manually shut my console off and played Gex. ?_(ツ_/?

It gets better! After DL this patch my system froze as well... and I lost my last week of profile saves.... my Fraggle Rock work. Now I know this is MY fault and I alone am to blame... but I am very tired of dealing with such a volatile/complex system. I had been away for a while and forgot how prone to disaster LBP is/was... I can honestly say the only thing I hate more than myself right now is LBP2.2011-07-06 05:07:00

Well, maybe it's not LittleBigPlanet 2 afterall, maybe your system overheated, try to play with same amount of time or longer with another game and see if it will freeze or not.2011-07-06 06:28:00

Maybe for ff7 costumes, the update regularly freezes now when any complex community level loads. The scoreboards are still the same so the patch is not for that.2011-07-06 13:39:00

Really?! I haven't tried any community levels this week, yet. Hope this doesn't affect my level when I eventually publish it. But the sound did cut out in create mode and in my pod. A few weird things happend with my movie cameras but this happend before this anyway. So I doubt it was the update.

I was playing in create mode, and in the music section of "tools" it froze on me. I waited, and waited, and finally turned off my PS3. When I turned it back on, my PS3 won't read any disc at all now (giving me error code 8001050F when I try to load the disc). I'm not saying it's because of the update or anything, but I've had my PS3 since launch and it has worked fine until now. >.<2011-07-06 17:39:00

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but I retested the local game camera issue, and it has NOT been fixed in 1.04.2011-07-06 17:45:00

I had the same thing happen while playing Final Fantasy XIII and my PS3 was a lot younger (shop gave me warranty luckily). It's extremely unlikely that software could cause hardware like the disc reader to break. The fact is, you had to be doing something while it broke, could have been anything. That doesn't mean there's a causality.

Please do not blame yourself! There are a lot of bugs and more in the game. People who played 'SonyVSMarvelVSCapcom' a while ago were prone to lose their profiles. Since it was a beta import... But Still, should not have happened! Imagine if you were one trophy away from Platinum'ing the game and you lost all progress because you didn't back up your save! That would be horrible. But I totally understand how you feel as the thing I hate more than people now is LBP 2! (Because someone copied my level)

Really? Freezes regularly? Aww man, glad I haven't played LBP 2 for a while

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but I retested the local game camera issue, and it has NOT been fixed in 1.04.
Another bug/glitch/error/thing STILL NOT FIXED?! And no word on fixes/improvements included in the latest patch?

Freeze bugs? I've not seen a 1 sense I got this update~

OH and everyone, this update DID FIX something~
If you ever mess with costumes you'd notice this update fixed the
"long hanging costume parts look like they are in water bug"
costumes like the long scarf would fly around you like it was in water. about two updates ago
this costume bug came out of nowhere. And it's fixed and back to normal now~

Oh? That's kind of a shame I think... I really liked the "ethereal" feel you would get when wearing that specific twirling costume item

Yikes, I'm not the only one who suffers the freezes after the update (So far the only one I encountered is the creatinator problem). I was completely right that it has to do with the 1.04 update. Don't blame Mm, I'm sure they'll fix this soon. I bet 1.05 comes at some time this week (or maybe 1.045).2011-07-07 01:51:00

Games like LBP2 (where user generated content makes up the bulk of the game) are more prone to glitches and bugs then other games. Most of the time is a small error in the code (which happens in most games) or a beta import, or some random person somewhere somehow finds a glitch in the programming and then shows all their friends, effectively breaking their games.

The good thing is Mm is consistantly working to solve these major problems, and I think the Creatinator Freeze glitch will be repaired shortly.

Try the PS3 recovery menu:

Turn off your PlayStation 3.
Press and hold the power button until the PS3 turns on and off again.
Hold the power button again until you hear 2 beeps, then IMMEDIATELY let go.
Plug your controller into the PS3 and hit the PS button.
Choose Restore File System and try and boot up a game.

Do make backups of everything, or at least your save files and profiles, before you restore. The one good thing about a broken bluray player is that you can still backup.

Hmm, so no fixes on the major stuff (camera/lag/etc) and reports of freezing.. is not good. :/
Waa LBP, why you no work?! >=|
Good thing I have been distracted by inFamous.

Silly Gravel! Don't you know you need to back up your LBP profile + levels every 5 minutes?
But seriously, hope you didn't lose too much. =(

From the web i've found that using undo in Creator mode requires a network call and gluing can be un-glued from the ground.

Hoped this helped.

These are the LBP1 fixes for 1.04 (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LittleBigPlanet_Game_updates) ^^

It is currently the summer holiday in several countries... Perhaps Spaff/ the person responsible for briefing the community is on vacation these days?

I solved the creatinator freeze glitch I mentioned earlier. It turns out that the decorations on the creatinator caused the freeze to happen in this recent update, so I removed them and it didn't freeze when I collect them.2011-07-12 00:21:00

Hmm. That sucks. I love decorating the creatinator.
If you reapply decorations after the update does it work?
