Grid-Based Movement
Archive: 3 posts
If someone could post a tutorial on Grid Based movement, that'd be great. I want to have an object with a controllinator on it, able to snap to each grid block(Big sized grid Box) when i go up/down. It cannot go diagonal and can only move when the In/Out mover is in the Out position. It switches between the In/Out ever Second or so. Help is greatly appreciated! | 2011-07-04 04:23:00 Author: Dan930930 Posts: 77 |

There is a pretty good tutorial already by Silverscorp... which I have linked to thusly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncZn9tXwVbI), not to forget it's sister video 'grid based rotation' thisly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUIn9_rvDjQ). Works pretty good, except that it totally breaks going on diagonals, and you have to keep tapping to move square by square. This may be you bag, but it's not for everyone. I have built a system based on this and tweaked it better to pause if you hold a direction, but keep moving if you keep holding. It also doesn't go diagonally. It's awesome, poetic and I can be bothered explaining it. Well, I will, but I'm cooking dinner... I will publish a stage in a little while with the extra logic, so watch the tutorials and hopefully what I publish will be slightly more impressive OK, so I published a stage and a quick explanation about how it all works here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59299-Doc-s-Workshop-Mr.-Grid-Based-Movinator&p=879870#post879870). | 2011-07-04 11:11:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
