Rpg maker 2k

Archive: 9 posts

Hi Community,

NES Mario will be done at the next weeks and i already thinked about my next project.

I will try to recreate RPG Maker 2k i dont know it you know that programm just google for it.

I have thinked about making it like a SDK where people can easly create complex rpgs by an editor.

I will need help with this Project so who wants to help me ?
Every Helper will be Credited and the Project will be seen as OUR Project not mine

Needed:
. Pixelartist
- Some ppl who are good to rpg logics
- Video Sequence Artists
- Audio Artist

Please leave comments if you want to help the project will start in 1 month i think after i finished my Super mario NES project.

Here are some pics of what we need to draw :

I know that will be a amazingly big work but if we will have a good team it can be done ^^

Oh at first i thought it was a topic about me lol

Sounds really cool though, if i weren't so busy with two other huge projects i would help. Unfortunately, i dont think there is an easy way to create a complex rpg. I guess you mean accessible? I guess it could help those that are really struggling to make one, even if its just a little bit. Could a great idea if you somehow made this accessible, but i think a majority of LBP players would rather you just create an rpg for them to play. I really hope you guys stick with it, so many RPG projects end in cancellations--

And now i dont have to make one hehe. Good luck

With easy i mean that there will be given events by custom logics who you can easyly setup for an rpg.
This will be a fully draw 16x16 tile by klick dev kit where the logics addings will be this way to only thing what the pll have to set up is there custom wants from the given options.

Custom Popit Custom creation mode controlled by a controllinator after they have added everything they want to the given template grid they just need to copy the grid paste to lvl and rpg is working without doing that much.

Sure that will be a very hard work to create something like this but if it is done i think it will grow to a big thing like a open source programm on pc i think ^^.

I am sure there will be people who will expand that SDK out with addons custom tilesets and so on.

And the cause why the most rpgs get canceled is because they have no given Logic Events

They are all hard logicing everything again and again i dont thing that much of the logics who are created yet are supporting multiple things like the NPC logic of 1 for the NPC 2 and so on.

For example a Battle logic the creator who will use this SDK have to just write down what is needed for this battle like the Live of enemy his damage and so on after that everything will work on it own

Heat issues are the main problem i see happening with this. Its ok to have the logic accessable, but like a game install, if you have everything there already, your already pressed for space.2011-07-04 18:30:00

It depends. By complex i am assuming an accurate take on a JRPG or if this is something like Zelda. Since he is using pixels, he wont be using as much thermo as more cinematic rpgs that uses sackbots, however, if you were planning more complex battle systems with numerical huds and such, then you would have a little problem considering you want the players to be able to customize it. With proper emit tricks, you can stuff a bunch of stuff into this level, thus an RPG Maker is possible theoretically. However, making such techniques user friendly to new comers brings me back to my original statement, can something like this even be accessible in LBP while still remaining complex? The thermo will be your worst enemy--trust me. You would have to make it so that a lot of it is emitted logic and is customizable, then i can see this actually fitting in a level.

Additionally, you may want to create an actual RPG in LBP2 yourself before you try to teach others how do so. Theres a lot of variables in them that im not sure if your thinking about-. Just my advice: Whoever does the logic behind this will be working the hardest. Maybe 3 or 4 x times harder at the minimum than everyone else and is really the mastermind behind the whole project.

If that person is you, then perfect; if not, i really doubt anyone would volunteer for such a grueling position. Use this month to get used to Rpg logics, is all i am trying to say. Your going to be the main one carrying the project. With that said, hopefully everything turns out how you want it to

But I would not be able to save the maps I make

...

Unless you make a code saving system, but that would be an insanely time consuming thing to do.

What if you just make a level kit that contains RPG props and logic for players to make their own levels with?

Good point, but I think it's possible to get around. The user interface would need to work in create mode and store all the settings to use in play mode when you save.

From a logic tinkerer's point of view it's a really interesting challenge. But I'm wondering if users wouldn't be better off with a bunch of well-documented highly-tweakable custom microchips and some examples that they can combine to create their own RPG levels?

I am working on a sprite based game myself, and once sticker board comes out (please be what I have been hoping for) sprite based games will be much easier to make look nice, and they already save a lot of therm if used properly, so I can see this working out just fine.2011-07-06 13:21:00
