This. The past few days, when I search "(LBPC1)", only like 5 of the levels showed up, and they all happened to be ones made in LBP1...and I'm pretty sure you can't use that filter function on the side for searches, either. Kinda doubt that has anything to do with this forum, though...but it still ticks me off.

Yeah. I had the same problem when compiling the list, but I think the text search is only returning LBP1 levels regardless of the search criteria.

As a workaround, you can go to Cool Levels, press triangle, and use the "filter by text" option to get all the results.

hi i heard theres a game breaking bug, with a bounce pad verrrrrrry early on, you cant even get to the first real joke! if i need i can bring somone into my level with me to show im only moving one bounce pad, this level tooks months to make and it would stink to see a quick last second fix ruin the whole level! i know the judges dont want to have to replay it but please it did take an awful long time!

Ok, you can set your bug, some judge has already played the level, so if you change something else, the level will be disqualified.

Anyway, I take this occasion to urge the creators to have good tests of their levels before publishing and beta testing from close friends.
Don't expect the crew to be so nice in the upcoming contests.

I had to finish my level in 1 day because I was going into vacation...
After 4 LBP crashes, hours of working, the level was complete. It was 11:48 P.M, and I still had to do the menu and the intro. I was super exhausted... When I finished the whole thing, I turned off ps3 and fell asleep right after, without going to bed nor turning off the lights. AND THERE'S STILL A GLITCH!!! LBP's unfair sometimes... I can't fix it... It's just the **** last spawn platform, the doors get blocked when you re-spawn in it, I could easily fix it if I wasn't in vacation...

i added 3 bounce pads (one for each layer) at the part where you would bounce into electricity. im reppubing now. so you can just drop to those and continue now, sorry again for the inconvienience, and i will test play more in later contests, i keep forgetting just because you can do it doesn't mean everyone can!

Nobody seems to understand the term deadline these days... (alas), On the upside, I am uber amazed at both the sheer amount of entries and the amount of creators I am unfamiliar with! I'd have to call this a SMASHING success! Congratulations to one and all... and judges, it is my fondest wish all 140 are fun to play. Good Luck to all.

Keep in mind, with 140 levels to judge, it would be very time consuming to address the reasons why each particular level was not chosen as a semifinalist.

If you are a semifinalist, your level's score review and judges' comments will be made available privately. If you were not chosen, then we highly recommend that you do play the finalists' levels - you can always learn a lot by playing high quality levels!

quick wondering (ocd wont let me NOT ask) its okay if you guys cant, (i mean 140 levels?!) but the judges who did play my entry before the fix, would you mind playing it now thats its, well, un borked? because it happens quite early on, and i know im asking alot and im trully sorry, but i want a fair shot at this and having left a bad taste in the judges mouth with the bad version of it doesn't help. if you cant i understand, but after the work i put into it i at least want to see you try and finish now that i fixed the borkey spot, if you cant its ok if you can thank you!

If you were not chosen, then we highly recommend that you do play the finalists' levels - you can always learn a lot by playing high quality levels!

well said. I know mine's not a contender. I knew that going in. Especially after playing {insert any level entry here} but after having played many of the levels entered I feel I did learn a few things and that can only make me a better creator. I've been taking a lot of mental notes so working hard on my next level.

Partecipating on a contest is not only about winning a crown/prize.
It's good to put yourself to the test again some other creators, and it's nice to see how, starting from the same point, the same restrictions, anyone can go.
As thegide said, I encourage you all, to play the most levels you can, to see, experience and learn from this competition.
Because if you just understand by yourself why your level didn't won, you just learnt a big lesson and you have improved a bit more

welljust from the contest itself, i have improved, i learned how to make cutscenes, i actually finished a level, and learned some things about gameplay from these great creators, i dont mind not getting a crown (it seems that there are at least two peaple who deserve it alot more anyway

) but overall it was fun and a good expeirence, and i hope to enter all of the next contests because of it!

Good luck everyone. And thanks alot for making these contest! I can see how much effort people have put in their levels. And same for the judgers! I enter these contests only because it's so fun to create such unique and awesome levels! I don't care if my lvl is bad or good. The thing was, that i had ton of fun creating the level along with 139 other people! Thanks again judgers!

probably less then they deserve, ive seen the tough competition out there i hope the winner gets known very well! and for the "deleting of levels because they didn't win" thats uneeded, i know my level isnt top notch but hey, it took alot of work yaknow? so deleting is a waste, plus it may inspire you later to totally revamp and at that point maybe you can edit in things that the contest prohibits... oh my mind is swimming with idears, i know what im doing once the contest is over!

Yeah, I had been struggling to finish a level in LBP2, and then this contest came along and I managed to actually finish something, even though my level is surrounded by negative reactions.

Still, great to see so many levels made for this. But somehow, I still think it's going to take another long period of time for me to make something complete again.

Or you could turn it around: if you don't like the way the contest is being judged, don't enter the contest! There were over a hundred entries, at an average 5 minutes per level it would take 10 hours to play them all. Not everyone has that amount of time to spare. Remember, these judges are doing this in their own time, unpaid, just to provide the community with a nice event. Please, just let them do it on their own terms, okay?

No, not all the people listed there will judge every contest, we never said that and we will rotate every month, so, not the same judge every time.
You're assuming stuff that you don't know.
There are mature people working on this, so I don't tolerate any kind of kiddish lamentation.
If you don't trust us, don't enter.

And yes, some judges want to keep their privacy to not be bombed with "Why my level didn't won" PMs, or maybe to play in peace withou having people messaging every second asking join me, there could be lots of reasons, so addressing things as secrecy is just short-minded.

These responses are typical unargumented avoidance of response . What JessRocks247 saying is something that is known from LBPC practice - each of the judges view just one part of the levels and its assessment of a level becomes final. No matter how the judge was mature and benevolent, something that he likes is not necessary liked by other judges, and vice versa. And Jess is absolutely right that only the correct result can be given if all the judges play all the levels. Key question remains unanswered: whether the judges did that that way, and if not, what is the system that are applied ?

Actually I didn'y "IMPLY" anything, from the start of this I've shot stright from the hip and said what I think, that being that a contest CANNOT be judged fairly unless ALL the judges have played and given their opinion on ALL the levels, If my colleagues and I are judging an art contest, then we would each view ALL entries and make our OWN mind up about the quality of the entry relating to whatever terms were given for the contest.

With regards to the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure " I don't think you understand this quote, it isn't quoting that any of the levels made are trash or treasure in those terms whatsoever!! and you asking me to go and play the levels to find the said trash or treasure levels is just plain rude to those that entered your contest and don't win. The saying means that each of us have a different taste, to quote the idiom, It means that some people place great value on things that others ignore or find worthless.

If the judges picked for the contests do not have the time to spare to actually JUDGE the entries that people worked very hard at, then get new judges that do have the time so it makes the contests fair, it's really as simple as that.

People here expect this to be Creator Spotlight. They expect to know why their level didn't get far. This is not.
We're not searching good levels and address them to people, we're picking only the best one, that needs unanimous consensum of all the judge.

This bash is the first step.
If we would make pubblic the names of judges, people will start to ask how each judge voted their level.
It would never lead to a point, since there will always be someone that won't be happy about the system.
Still, this is the system, and this kind of shallow complaining is what makes lots of people in the community with bitter taste in their mouth and not willing to do anything for the community anymore.

Im totally agree omega,i played over 50 of the 140 lvls of the competition and there are a lot of levels full of floor,when the first rule and the name of the competition its "no floor contest"so if a lvl have a lot of floor,it doesnt matter if one,two or 10000 judges play the level it will continue with floor and i trust in the contest crew and thats why i entered,i personally think that the crew are really impartial and i dont care if i win or loose,the spirit of this contest its not to win its just to get fun.

Completely untrue. All levels that meet the required criteria should be objectively assessed, and this is done by all the judges play all the levels.

Well I've got to say that I'm glad you made me right and proved my point that the contest wasn't JUDGED fairly at all.

I've known Omega for quite some time and if he says it was judged fairly, then it was. He is a very honorable person as are all the others that are running these contests. I don't see how playing on alt accounts as a judge means anything or implies anything other than they want to be alone when judging. I think I respect that even more because to me that means they want to judge the level and not be distracted or swayed by others that might want to join them. It allows them to focus on the task at hand which I would think would be commendable. FWIW, I do the same thing when researching levels of those I wish to feature in a creator spotlight. I can focus on what I am doing as well as get done much quicker. It really is not an uncommon practice for some to utilize alt accounts in this manner.

Please take the rules, understand them clearly, take your time to go through all the levels, and I REALLY encourage you to do it and to valiantly try to complete EVERY level, you'll realize some things.
My conscience, and the ones of the other judges is clear and candid.
Go play all the levels, wait the winner, then come back if you have a problem with the winner.

Once again you are rattling on about things that were not asked, I didn't enquire as to who the judges are, nor is this a case about winning or losing, although I see you want to jump onto that bandwagon and make this into something it is not. I am sure no one would consider complaining about winning or losing if everyone knew that the judging was done how it should be, which simply is that all levels entered for your contest, should be played and judged by all judges, in other words FAIRLY and if this is not the case then this contest whatever the result may be, was unfair.

Most big contests are like this. and like OmegaSlayer was saying.
if you yourself have not looked at every level in the contest then how can you say the contest was not judged fairly?
and in lots of online contests i've ever seen, the judges lot of the time play on their less known accounts
so people will leave them alone and whatnot, so again unless you are 100% sure how the contest is handled,
then don't try to even guess how everything works. they never said from the start everyone on their
contest team would be doing level judging. they said they all be taking turns from contest to contest.
make sure to pay more notice to things instead of just Presuming how things are ran.

Yes contests are never 100% perfectly judged as we all know people are people and we all have different opinions.
but you just have to live with that. there's no need to complain about why "you" think a contest should be ran.
it is what it is. just let it be and have "Fun" if you enter, if something about the contest bothers you
then just don't enter, if you don't like how things are done. *mew

well I played all the levels except those that are locked, and can say firsthand that there were quite a few entries that didn't adhere to the guidelines. There were a lot of entries that blew me away too. I think the contest crew is doing a fine job and sure the judging is fair and legit. I can't wait for the results. The anticipation is killin' me.

THE FOLLOWING IS IMMENSELY HYPOTHETICAL.

There are four judges, Melvin, Prometheus, Gustav, and Alabaster. They are dispatched at the time that this contest's deadline has expired, and they are to play all the levels that meet the guidelines.

Whoa, wait there. See that last bit?

Meet the guidelines?

Melvin pops into a level. And wow, right from the get-go, you're walking on a floor. Since the level's disqualified (for having a floor), Melvin can very comfortably say that said level will not win the contest, and the other three lovely, enigmatic people shouldn't have to play it. On a similar note, Prometheus enters a level, he's having a jolly good time, and BAM, controllinator. Disqualified, nobody has to play.

Gustav plays a third level, at at several points in said level, the floor is covered in bounce pads. As stated in the original post, this is, while not immediately dooming, against the spirit of the contest, and may be treated as a serious flaw.

With your rationale, you're saying that everyone - Melvin, Prometheus, Gustav, and Alabaster - has to play all three levels that I've described (but not explicitly named :B) and deem that they are unworthy. If you believe this to be just, well, you're simply wrong. They had no chance of winning once Melvin said to them "oh hey, this has floors" or Prometheus said "oh hey, there's a controllinator you have to use".

END HYPOTHETICALS :B

What'd make sense is if they did an initial sweep of all the entries - evenly distributing the workload among all of them, and each person reports back saying which ones are to be played again, and which ones are disqualified based on their content.

This is a great contest. I have total faith that the winner, whoever it may be, will wholly deserve the crown, and can be said that they've "earned" it. If you're being mad about the results before the results are posted, kindly reconsider your involvement in this community.

if i have to be sincere it's true, i played lots of entrys and i found lots of levels that don't follow the rule. as other people says before me, is useless that all the judges play a level that one of their said it don't follow the rule, this is a very spare of time. trust in the crew is most important thing if you want to join in a contest. i also found very outstanding levels that make me say WOW! this is for sure a winner, and after some time, while playing another level say the same thing. it's hard to judge so i can understand if a level is obviously out of the rule don't need all the judges to play it. excuse my english, i'm italian! :-) have fun! This is a contest and its for the contstants to complain if the think they are getting biased treatment. Not the spectators. As members of the LBPC community we dont expect you to complain at the judgement of a contest which is being set up for YOU. It has already been mentioned it would take 10 hours to play all the levels, and they are doing it for, who again, oh yeah, YOU. If your not part of the contest why should you complain? Also how would you like it if the judges decided not to do it at all, because of your moaning and groaning? Next time thinkthrough what these 'corrupt' judges are doing for you.

I'm upset that you failed to mention Kooshball, Midas and King HB. THEY ARE ADEQUATE AS WELL YOU KNOW! But yeah, the preliminary analysis / disqualifications are spot on. It doesn't take a committee of judges to see if a level abides by the rules or if it's any good (ie. worthy of GLORIOUS victory).

The judges play 140 levels. The contest is free to enter. All you have to do is to create, publish... and wait. If you're unhappy about thinking that your level's not being judged by all judgers, don't bother to join this contest. If you DISAGREE, then leave, the judgers are doing their works. Get the fact. This contest is for fun, not for complainers. Now probably either jess or goranilic are gonna 'complain' again. If there's something bothering you ( as someone already said) leave a private message to the one who made this thread. God... there's always little kids complaining. It's just a game. Is it possible that nobody really understands? I will simplify my point: it was a simple question - what is the system of judging ? I received a satisfactory response from OmegaSlayer and for me the case is closed. Without complaints. A bunch of other people put their complaints, I have no clue about what.

Yeah, unfortunately I must say that we weren't able to finish all the levels.
And we are quite skilled, not the kind of superjump people, but people that finished Strider, Ghould'n'Ghosts and 80s platformers back in the day.
But difficulty balancing is a key factor to the quality of the level.
Setting a bouncer that doesn't send you every time into an hazard should be care of the creator, just to mention one thing.
Have you ever played a level from Lockstitch or Comph or Morgana that is unfinishable or badly balanced?
We assure you we made valiant efforts to finish all the levels, but some were even REALLY buggy.

Anyway...Is there a word that describes a window of time that is more little than "soon"?

Hey contest crew, I just wanted to say thanks again for doing this... A monthly crown contest is a worthy and brilliant Idea! The sheer interest it generates proves it's genuine worth. One suggestion however, perhaps one contest should be put to sleep before the next begun... Here we are 8 days from contest number two's deadline and we still havent a winner from the first? Maybe bi-monthly? Hardly any time left to gloat!

Being the first (contest) I know there was obscene amount of interest but It doesnt feel 'right' to me. Perhaps winners should be announced with the unveiling of the 'next' contest... idk. Unchecked I think this could dillute interest rather than ramp-up interest. Anyway, continued support, I know I'm looking forward to applaud the winners.

Actually we have the winners from a 10-ish days, though you know...the TV always arrives late on things.
People always want to look good, make things nice.

Though, you know, summer, end of college...those things in real life that slows you down a bit but sure have a priority

I saw a preview of what the sackinima guys want to do and I think it will be worth the wait, and give more visibility to the winner.

Just to see you waiting makes me think about out stressful it is to be at the last minute before deadline, THEN having to wait untill they announce the winner. Ouch, I'm glad to be in LBPC2 and not LBPC1. The theme was too strict, I'm bad without the DCS. Meh NeeDz ThAH LoGIkZ!!!
