i noticed luck ray say they picked a winner and such to the orriginal... did i miss it? where was it announced, im pretty sure there isn't a winner yet (unless i missed it) im going to look for it on the threads...

I said the judges picked a level from the last contest, they haven't picked a winner yet. But there is a huge chance of jellyfish 3D is gonna win. So don't worry dragonight, you still have a chance.

Most likely they will pick a winner after the 10 semi finalists... not halfway through the contest.. And btw everyone, Felkroth made the jellyfish game XD you know.. The Mm picked creator of Frozen Flame? It hilarious that no one seems to know this! XD One of the best games in LBP in my opinion.

Am I the only one who didn't really enjoy the Jellyfish level? I mean, it was alright, but aside from the fact that it was pwetty and technically impressive, not much else was going on. But anyways, this thread isn't really for speculation / critiques / superfluous advertising.

Are all my comments/questions invisible? Hello...? Again.. Is it ok if a level can be played solo but no score given? Mostly due to a timed vs which inevitably ends thus completing it regardless of number of players? also.. again can I request that it be played 4 player if possible?

Im sure its ok but I want to make sure... It says in the rules that the level can not be completed solo.. But if you have a timed versus level it automaticly ends after the time is up even if there is only 1 player... You just wont have a score in my game since there was no one to kill.. Its also possible to sample the characters solo but again, no score cause no kills. Is this ok? ... Sorry for my impatience I had no idea cause your English is perfect XD

Any number of players can complete my game... But since its a fighting RPG thing 2 players are required to actually get scores for kills... I only suggest that when it be judged to be played 4 player which is teams of 2.. I wouldnt dare make it require 4 XD that would be ridiculous! Lol.

It is all about create a funny multiplayer level. If the Contest crew give you the crown, be very proud.
create a multiplayer level only that LBP got more of this.

(i love them, my heartlist is 90percent multiplayer level xD love to play with friends and own them lol)

Just figured I'd post here since several people have commented on my level (the Jellyfish) being scary and everything.

I really hope it's not demotivating anyone from making a level of their own for the contest, cause that'd be quite horrible.

My personal opinion is that while it may place somewhat well in the contest, it's not likely going to be the winner. As has been stated here by some people, it's beautiful and it may be somewhat fun to play but there are definitely levels out there with much more interesting/engaging multiplayer gameplay!

I, for one, am very afraid of Fotosynthesis1's level.. assuming he's going to enter the contest with it.

I can tell you this. I am not going to enter in LBPC2. I have so many levels I want to work on, and finish. But, I think your jellyfish level is amazing. It has amazing gameplay, and also looks great!

I don't want to be mean or anything, but the only problem i see on jellyfish is if you go to the very top, you could see probably what your not suppose to see. Just an opinion.

...I'm getting bored of this level I'm working on, but I REALLY want that crown. I will try my hardest to get this done. If only my friends were more helpful. All they do is add 1 thing so I say they helped then leave. I deleted their stuff though so I don't have to sy they helped.

It's too early to have any favorites as winners. I think there are a lot of creators out there who create in "silence" and then publish their masterpieces within the last week. Levels published in the last week have probably taken more effort to make than early published levels.

Oh I'm not doubting that amazing levels will be published later at all. I actually had to publish mine earlier because I'm going on vacation soon and won"t be back in time to publish before the deadline :/ but Im very confident and am happy that I will have LBPCrs actually play it

lol my sig is such a huge hint XD I made a special version of that game just for the contest but it should definately be different enough to be valid. Thats partially the reason it didnt take me too long.. and allowed me to make several changes to make it better than the original

But ya, Im sure a few people have had concepts sitting on their moon half complete or useful pre made logic or were already working on a vs level luckily around the same time the contest was announced. To assume that a level that was published before the very last day lacks in quality or effort is just a bit naive.

quick question, i last second realized that a level orriginally for the contest, that i decided would NOT be able to meet deadline, then DID meet deadline so im re entering with it... anyway, it seems to lagg 4 player from all the graphical goodies, i have an option to turn trail effects off which reduces lagg to nothing. but it wont look as nice, so while it is in fact a 2 to 4 player level, it may lagg a tad with 4 people at crazier parts, basicly will that penelize me or will you just go in 2 player? because it IS 4 player compattible, but like i said... lagg isuues

Yeah, my level doesn't lag with 2 players. With 3 players, it starts lagging little. And 4 player lags. It's probably because of the use of too close emitter frequencies. I use electric, which looked really cool, but even with 4P its still playable, you simply move cannons and shoot.

The list of levels will be published August 1st I think, there shouldn't be any kind of problems about that.
It's the easiest part of our job thanks to the awesomeness made admin (Aya)

We will consider the lag, and we'll try different solutions to try the levels.
Don't worry

It's a particular flaw of the game not your fault.

Hay guys i thought id give a up dat on my level it is no longer a 3 player i was haveing problems with the 3rd skate board it was geting stuck on the wall lol

It is ok that i updated it after publishing it befor the deadline?? i didin't start haveing problems with it till i published it but i have every thing fixed and it is all ready for the contest

Are all the levels going to be on the list or just the ones the judges like?

I can't waight to see mine on the list Yaaaay!

Hey. My level has been in the works and will most definetly be a top contendor, not to sound cocky... but I do have a question or two, and would appreciate it if you were to answer both here and via a message (I sometimes forget to check either). If the level is only for 2 players, do you need to include a waiting area/spectator kind of thing for the other 2 players, or does that add to the niceness of the level? Because I can (probably) do that, I just don't know if I need to or if it will add any points for me.

Regarding levels that require a tutorial section to explain the gameplay mechanics and basic controls, are we allowed to make an out of game written game guide and point to it from within the level?

I'm asking because the level i'm making for the contest, although the actual gameplay is fairly intuitive once a few basics are understood, it also involves quite a few specifics that need to be explained, considering the time scale left until the deadline it really would be a lot easier for me to write a written game guide on here. I could attempt to make a sackbot recorded type tutorial but considering what i know i have left to finish of the actual level I'm quite worried i won't have enough time to make a sufficient in game tutorial.

So, Judges, is it ok for me to write up a guide on here, and explain how to get to it in the level? It won't be long if written, but making out of recorded bots, explaining each scenario/role/utility will be extremely time consuming. As i intend to continue to develop the game concept after the competition i am going to be making an in game tutorial eventually anyway, but right now i have to actually finish the level in the first place!

Clarification on this will be of great help.

My level is in its final polishing phase...

There is only just one issue. Which has screwed up 2 of the 4 parts in my entry... The issue is a very annoying glitch I found with the Sequencer.

I call it the "Y U NO LISTEN GLITCH".

The sequencer begins to use different "Seconds Per Stripe" numbers... If I set the seconds per stripe to 1.0, it begins to use a wee bit less or more timing (You cannot change it back, because it still is at the desired amount of seconds on the Sequencer's settings)... Which can mess up the whole level if everything has to be precise and exact...

Mysteriously, the easy and insane mode are unaffected... Which may be due to being published before getting infected...
It just gets annoying when everything crumples after a lot of work...

You can update your level how many times you want until the deadline, levels updated after July 31st will be diqualified

You can make the level even x3 or x4, not only x2 and yes, you can add a spectator area

Thanks OmegaSlayer, nice to know you're willing to help out your contestants. I was going to ask about the tutorial thing, but the other guy already asked for me. XD Luckily, my level is almost perfected, and I have almost a week to perfect it! =D Thanks for the contest, it's great that I finally get to put my FINALIZED lvel into action, AND for a competition perfect for it!
And not that it's important or that you'll probably care since you have to read ALL of these, but the level can only be 2 player. You'll understand why if you see what it is. ^-^

It is called Online Multiplayer Hangman (LBPC2). It takes the classic Hangman game to LittleBigPlanet. Just like in the pen and paper version, one person makes up a word and another one guesses. This game can unfortunately only be played by 2 people in online multiplayer. The others can watch, though. I hope you have fun playing it.

The thing is, i designed it so that the level itself, menus within the level and the gameplay mechanics change depending on whether you play alone or not. With two players in the level you cannot complete the level without each other, but if you are in the level alone you can complete it by yourself. Would this be accepted?

Not acceptable, the level must be 2, 3 or 4 players only
We designed the contest to favour gameplay with friends.

Fotosynthesis1`s Cohesion works the same way...is it allowed or not?
Because when it is allowed I want to add a menu with such singleplayermode, too...

We all have a chance unless the judges are biased.....Everyones demotivation about "famous" creators entries is depressing. Also I have a question.. After the deadline, are the 10 semi- finalists listed here or anywhere after they have been picked?

Yeah, look at dioxi in the past contest, it was his first level if I remember well and he reached the top 10.
The top 10 will be announced together with the name of the winners.
The next contest will be held August 1st/31st.
No way I'll tell you the theme before August 1st

There's been many people who play my level alone even tough i wrote in the title 2-4 P! as big. Does that mean they dont read level titles? Oh well... i didn't get bad rates from them at least, except from a noob, who didnt know what was going on at all IT IS 2-4 PLAYERS. Still dont understand. Ah well... good luck everyone else!

No. Nobody reads level titles. If your level wasn't intended for the amount of players in their party, that is your fault. You will be booed. It was designed around a unique co-op mechanic and is for 2 players. I recommend microphones as it will help with coordination and finally I have ensured that the level is compatible with local multiplayer to allow everyone to play.

And about descriptions/wrong numbers playing. Make it impossible for the wrong number of players to play the game and leave extremely easy to understand on screen information about what to do in order to play properly.

I know it sounds a bit pretentious but it really works: Design as though someone really stupid has to understand it.

One last question (hopefully): Do I need to prevent single player plays in a versus level? They can't 'finish' the level, as their scores are invalid. Should I force the game to end in the case of a single player play? It sounds kinda harsh...

I'm going to add a requirement for 2+ players to start the game, but I might as well make this as clear as possible to everyone else.

(Also, the level entry in my sig is not final, I'll put the final version here when it's ready)

It'd be best to make more than one player a requirement for the game to start. Lock DCS's/menu selections e.t.c. leaving a rpompt along the lines of "more players are needed to start the game" If only one player has joined.

Makes those 'multiplayer only' levels actually adhere to their namesakes

rather than the depressingly common "yes you can play as one player, but your computer will explode" Multiplayer only levels. lol

This is my entry, an online multiplayer sneaking-deathmatch based off Metal Gear (Solid) saga that can be enjoyed by anyone! 2-4 players. Basically it's a mix of weapon-based deathmatch with hiding/sneaking. Includes a tutorial to learn the controls which include using your own personal reloadable paintinator, grenades, a stun knife (an electrically charged combat knife), and the ability to equip a cardboard box to blend in the room and hide, and also open and close lockers to hide and ambush the other players!
*The goal of the game is not only to kill the others but to collect their Dog Tags, which are those little collar thingies they will drop after dying.

Will not work correctly with people using the same PS3, needs to be online.
*Note: Per rules, can only be played by 2-4 players. If the level is visited by a single solo player, he will be directed to a different level for one player that obviously is not related to this contest (I decided this so that players who are alone and cannot continue trough the level will not just get upset and Boo the level, but be directed to another level appropiate for 1 player.)

It took time and patience to get everything working correctly, I guarantee it's worth playing!

At long last... h-ha... it's... it's-!! It's ALIIVVEE!!!

I finally finished it! Muhahahaa!!! The level I'm submitting for this contest is Blastoids!. I thought the name was original until I searched and found 4 other levels with the same name.

Anyways, it's a Vs. level, which means you fight your friends in it. You fly around and shoot eachother, whilst picking up the points they drop. But if you're doing a little too well, a bounty will be put on your head! Meaning . . . you drop 3x the normal points when you die!

There are 5 items and 4 maps to play on. Because of how HUGE 2 of the maps are, the other two are fairly small, and I honestly couldn't fit another map. Not just because of the limited space, but also because of that blasted thermometer...

Also contains a very complicated menu with 3 video tutorials! Yay technology!

Things you should know:
-This level is ONLINE MULTIPLAYER ONLY.
-You must have atleast two people to be able to play, but anyone that's solo can still watch the tutorials.
-The more players, the better! This game is more fun with a large group.
-The 'BLASTOIDS' font is Comphermc's Perfect Dark font.

Out of curiousity... what will happen if a person who already owns a crown wins? I'm not saying it"s "cheating" if they enter, cause just because you have a crown doesn't mean you have a special advantage, but... When I first published my level, I thought it might have a chance due to its uniqueness and fun, but now that I've seen the other levels, I don't even think my level will be in the top 20 (probably because of the visuals). It would be nice if all the results were displayed so people could see how well they did. Or at least the top 20 levels.

Wow... from 25% to 15% in 2 hours of work... I'd say todays been pretty successful

. Even though I think I have at least a 5-15% chance of winning, that means there are about 5-15 levels that are also for the part if not more

. Everyone has done a good job. I just hope that my best I could do is enough, and even if I don't get done, I'll publish my level so I can say I tried.

Nope. Deadine is midnight GMT, which is...

5pm Pacific time
6pm Mountain time
7pm Central time
8pm Eastern time
1am UK time

The reason it's GMT is that's the way the levels are timestamped on LBP's info pages, so the judges can easily tell which were [re]published after the deadline.

Well judging by the location you set, last time I checked that was BST (British summer time, GMT+1) so it was 1am rather than midnight that the contest closed. I wouldn't worry about it

This Contest has been crazy for me. I've been working on one project that I was planning submit to the contest for two weeks, but I lost interest and the level was hard to make/finish. Then, I got a new idea and it's almost finished. I was planning to submit the new idea, if I had finished it in time, but I thought the contest ended at midnight(my time). Now, I want to state it clearly already.

Expect longer times to have a winner.
It's summer, some judge are on vacation, and the levels must be played 2x with eventual connection issues, lag and whatever (we'll take consideration of it, so don't worry).
So please hang with us, and be real patient.
Don't expect anything before August 25th

I see some questions arising regarding the submission deadline.

In the OP, under "How to Enter", this is printed in bold font:

3. Publish your level before 11:59PM GMT on Sunday, July 31, 2011.

This is also printed in the "Rules and Regulations":

8. Levels must be published before the deadline with ?(LBPC2)? in the level?s title. After the deadline, do not republish. Levels republished after the deadline will be disqualified.

It is your responsibility to ensure your level is published before the deadline, just as it is reading and understanding the published rules. We use the publication dates as reported by LBP2 to determine whether submissions have come in late or if modifications have been made to levels after the deadline, which is why GMT time zone is used.

Late submissions will not be accepted, because it is unfair to the other contestants, and was clearly stated in the rules.

and I had to republish because that's what my one friend told me to do, he said for an updated level link I had to re-publish the sub-levels and the main level for it to run better, but for some reason I still see my sub-levels out in the open, I'm seriously sorry for this, and I didn't know the "(LBPC2)" part was mandatory I just thought using "[LBPC2]" would seem abit more appropriate

I have a question regarding if my level is still valid to compete in the competition. I clicked "publish" to my level at 11:58 pm, July 31. I was not aware of how long it would take but it was done and fully published by 12:01. Can my level still be permitted please?

I'm not a judge, but I believe the idea of a deadline is to create an arbitrary time-frame within which creators make their entry. This is to give an equal footing for creators, I think then that there is a difference between 'publishing' a mere minute over the deadline, and someone 'working' on their creation after the deadline and then attempting to publish.

As your case is the former, i would be surprised if the judges did not look favorably upon your unfortunate situation. Don't worry, it should be ok as you simply missed the deadline by a minute. What would 'not' be allowed, in my opinion is having extra time of 'input' onto your level. There is an important difference between that and your case. Although the final call comes from the Judges.

I for one, as a fellow contestant vote the Judges allow your entry into the competition considering the circumstance. Good luck. I understand how much effort you must have put into this, and how aggravating such an unfortunate turn of events must be.
