LBP Machinima Competition - The Winners!

Archive: 11 posts

(http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=mhee#)It's taken a long time and at last, here are the winners! There are some talented film makers among you! It was a long yet rewarding experience ("mum says it's magical") and we'd like to thank all those who entered. Even if you didn't win, your film may appear on our channel sometime soon, so chin up! As said in the video below, all the entries have had tons of work poured into them and we feel evil for only awarding three people...

We've tried to vary the type of winning film, we didn't want the top three to all be similar in content, even though they were all very good! We've judged the entries via how much of an impact they had on each of us whilst watching, be it via the story, use of cameras, music etc. Every single entry will appeal to someone out there, but we had to decide upon the ones that appealed to us the most. I hope this doesn't aggravate some of you!

Here's the announcement video, we waffle on far too much but it shouldn't be too unbearable!

Thanks again to everyone who entered! The three winners have been notified via PM, but feel free to ask us any questions using this thread. It's a crime to not give most of the entrants praise and recognition, so remember to keep a look out on our channel to see some of the great films we didn't have enough swag for! Stay indoors kids. x

700 videos???? wow! that must have been an incredible effort, i realy had no idea there was that many entries. i mean, 700?? really????

Anyway thanks very much for selecting me (although of course I did deserve to win outright) I am very, very proud.

Allow me also to thank the minions who helped me make it, ( i can't remember their names but it makes me sound nice if I acknowledge the little people) What?? oh ok, my wife just said if i don't thank them properly i will be punished. I don't even want to know what she means by that, so... massive thanks to hardsync, (music) leklak (voice/creative input) gutfather (voice) WCF7__ & mudluck (sets) Kez-11 (font) and nackedocelot & sailormarz (costumes)

As you can gather I really wouldnt have been able to do this on my own and the fact that it was published on my planet shoudln't take away from any of the input everyone involved made.

Congrats to ladylyn1 (however it's pronounced) for stealing my rightfully deserved crown... er... i mean for winning, to rialrees for her phenominal song video, & can i also add that there were some fantastic entries, Blanchrocker & stampy in particular spring to mind, & roll on the nxt comp! (when i'll get my rightful crown)

I'll leave it to viewer discretion to spot the jokes in the above!

Thanks again guys!
EDIT: ps, forgot to say, if you guys find farts funny then watch my latest er... 'less serious' movie, all about farting

O.....M.......G......

Incredible! Thank you guys so so much! I never in a million years would have thought I'd be up there with these other incredible movies - and I've seen other entries which have really made me realise the potential in the LBP community!

Thank you so so much, and huge congratulations to my fellow runner up Muddledmuppet (You'll get your crown one day )

And Ladylyn1 - what can I say? That film was a winner the day it was published. I'm glad your immense effort has been rewarded!

Congratulation to the winners, though I am sad not to see myself there also, but that's life. . Really happy to see MuddledMuppet being in the first three (and not just for this movie, but for him being a serious movie factory which knows no boundaries, except the 20 level limit on his Earth ), Anyway, all three movies are an excellent example of quality and variety and they really do stand out as unique accomplishments in LBP.

But now please excuse me, I need to recover from this ultimate defeat that has just struck me. Maybe I will aimlessly watch the moon for hours.

Your film caused a big argument between moley and I, we had no idea what to reward you with! Your film will be up on our channel soon though, definitely. If we made one more runner up place available, yours would be there! (can I say that? meh, I make the rules 'round this town, kinda).

Oh, that’s nice, seeing that the movie was at least that close. It is the category of almost there, but never up there - it is the manliest of all categories, only defeated warriors who find strength to be reborn again in all their might find themselves there, but then again, after penalties, those are the guys who cry the most in the Football World Cup games.

So to avoid further incoherent rambling, when will the winner come here to give his victory speech? The room is full and the audience is waiting.

It can start like this: “At first I envisaged a 49 minutes long movie, but then… (long pause, hand in the air), I made it one minute longer… (and the room erupts with applause and half of the audience faints due to the over excitement, while those who remained conscious, stampede back to re-watch the movie at their homes).”

Congrats to the winners, and the judges as well, as going though 700 movies (and farting in a way that has scarred me for life O_o) is not an easy accomplishment to come back from sane. I'm not surprised Ladylyn won. Even though I haven't seen the movie yet (it's very time consuming), I think 50 minites of movie and an Mm pick mean it's a good one.

I also entered this contest with an older movie level (and thanks for the uprate, Leather-Monkey). I'm not surprised it didn't get up there, especially with chances of winning being around 1 of 700.

I'll try to find time to watch Ladylyn's level (50 minutes o_o), as well as the other finilists and levels put onto the YouTube channel. I hope you all enjoy your fame and glory on YouTube and LBP.

I think it's time

Well at first I envisaged a 49 minute long movie, but then I made it one minute shorter as my blood shed hands and blistered thumbs had given in... The movie had defeated me. I'm disappointed to say that I never did create the final minute worth of film which was ironically the most important minute (everybody drops their head with disappointment).

Actually I was originally aiming for 30 minutes but things kind of got out of hand... I must confess that this competition ruined my revision for the end of year exams, whoops!

I must thank the guys who helped me with the movie, as it would have been impossible without them. Zohnar: put in an invaluable contribution, helping me everyday with ideas and problems, giving story suggestions and twists. Without him I would probably have lost interest. Chrisitandadrum, Hilightnotes and Sevenisacannibal created the incredible custom music which I felt fitted the movie perfectly. Finally Akiba_90 for creating the very detailed and very thematic font.

Well all I can really say is a big thank you to Leather and Moley for putting on the competition and having to judge 700 entries! That deserves a massive pat on the back. The entries I've played have all been of very high quality; Stampy's and Christiandadrum's were both spectacular although very different. A huge congratulations to MuddledMuppet and rialrees for coming runners-up. It's quite hard to know what to say in these situations but I can tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed watching both your films and either would have also been a deserving winner.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie on youtube as a single 50 (or 48) minute movie.

Thanks again to both Leather and Moley for picking my film out of a very high quality group of films it means a lot.
