Well guys.. Is there a point anymore?

I've kinda had it to my witts end now. I worked for days making a level and getting the word out about it. made the first part and published it hoping to get feedback. its only an intro level so i wasn't expecting mm pick or anything but i mean common now. I spend days working on a level that looks awesome, Make sure every detail is right. publish and wait for the flood of people and comments and reviews. a day later. 10 plays 2 hears and one positive reviews. all these bullcrap H4H BOMB SURVIVAL FREE COSTUME I NEED A GIRLFRIEND LETS BE EMO TOOLS levels get 10000 hearts and 100000 plays in an hour. and then mm picks is impossible to get because your level drowns in crap. I wish MM would step in. this is completely ruining the game for me. I spent hours of non-stop work on it and nothing. and the retard who puts h4h in his title gets play after play.... Am i the only one frustrated by this. I mean what is the point of creating anymore? I mean there are people who are good getting plays but c'mon. the only ones ive seen are 3 for the "no platform contest". i think its time to petition mm to just do this
Use the following keywords
Free Costume
h4h
bomb survival
and then hit he big ol ban and delete button. . im sorry for venting but its bull. total bull. and lbp1 for free didnt help. they need to make a way to seperate legit creators from spam.

It's the opposite for me. I was messing around in a level for like 20 minutes out of boredom, published it, and got 3000 plays in a day.

Could you provide a link to your level?

Everybody goes through this stage of despair when playing LBP+LBP2. You have my empathy.

I made my peace when I realized that in many respects it's a social network. For many people the game is really about friending, commenting, promoting, trending and chasing stats. Player behavior is to blame, not Mm (although having trophies for a certain number of plays and hearts is a terrible idea).

As a social network, I find LBP+LBP2 pretty lousy. But I made my peace with that, and I don't let it bother me now. I just ignore most aspects of the online community, and I seek creative recognition outside of the game, such as here at LBPCentral.

Hope this perspective helps a bit.

Yup... Think "Who are you creating your level for?"

Is it for the 100,000+ "retards"(as you call them) who play the H4H and Bomb Survival Levels?

If so, then you'd best consider making a H4H or Bomb Survival Level in order to compete.

I, personally, make levels for me - and no-one else. If other people play them & like them - then that's a bonus. But 'expecting' everyone to play and like your level is Naive.

I know gow you feel that's why I don't work on the game im making too much because a made a great level, it had boses a different enemy, youll never see the same one twice, story, major detail, great gameplay.. guess what happened? It had 2 yays and 62 boos, so I deleted it, no I don't work as hard to make my levels because of just that and now i have more yays than ever. the only thing im doing %120 on is my INFECTOR game.2011-07-01 05:04:00

Jeez hours and days? I have worked on my 1 level for at least 4 months and I cant get anyone to play it XD I don't think this would be too bad if "advertising" wasn't looked down upon, provided its a long and well thought out request.. and not on their level XD Sometimes intros and demos wont be played though.. based on the fact that its a incomplete level or showcase... but usually tons of glitches, bots, and demos are on cool levels.. so its more like luck of the draw and hope anyone listened to you or uses filters and does research. Dive ins can be terrible on your level if it is too elaborate.. when I see a player in my level with 0 levels and 0 hearts I'm sorry but I do fear naive boos messing up my ratio! but sometimes they yay and even heart. That's awesome. I feel honored to heart them first...
Anyways.. if you want plays you pretty much have to advertise or have someone try to promote you and your levels.

Most of us went through this same thing in the first game. I know I did. The only difference is, I just kept plugging away. I never really let it get me down. I always have created because I love building so much, but I do want other people to enjoy my stuff, so I feel your pain. I had two levels in LBP1 that ever did worth a ****, and that was after about my seventh level in. My advice to you is, if you create for just plays, then find what kind of level people play most (like the ones you mentioned), and make those. If you create because you love it, then just grin and bear it. Hang in there. Your skills will improve, and eventually, if your levels are any good, you'll get your plays.2011-07-01 12:13:00

Well, the main thing to consider is that a large majority of players in LBP are usually little kids, who just play levels just to get free items or high scores. They don't have the capacity, or patience, to create good levels so they just play levels that appeal to them, which usually includes anything with the words "free", "bomb survival", or "h4h". Since there are MANY levels with those key words in their title, it's very easy for other levels to drown in the line-up. If you really want to get some more players, I'd suggest making one of those "common" levels, which could attract more players to your other levels if they decide to visit your planet. However, since little kids aren't very experienced, they will have problems playing more complex levels, which could lead to more boos. That's just what I think though, I've never tried it, but it sounds accurate to me.2011-07-01 18:45:00
