Keys and objects

Hm, I've made a part in a level where you have to find a special item and drag it to a special person that in turn deletes the green dissapearing material stuff (Forgot the name of the material) so that you can continue onward, my question is how do I make the item dissapear once the character has said what he needs to say and the green material has dissapeared?

For now I use a magnetic key to detect when the item is near the character.

You could also have a thin layer of material either drop down or emitted in front of the character.

Or put a piston or winch on a short timer on their head and yank them off screen.

But yeah, dissolve is the conventional method.

If it's got a Magic Mouth on it though, once the disolve triggers, you can't read the text any more.

If it's set to open a door and at the same time talk, while also disolving from the same switch set, you won't be able to read the text.

So I'd put a sensor beyond the door and and have it so the dissolve gets triggered from that. Another option is to put a small range magnetic switch soon after the door, have it on the same key setting as what's the draggable object, and use that to make the character disappear. It's the same thing, it's just one is triggered by the player, the other by the dragged object.

Or... you could increase the sensor range on the Magic Mouth, and not have it triggered by switch. Just be aware of the disappearing text problem.

You'd have to fiddle around with the settings and sensor ranges of course, but I hope this helps.
