But now that I'm at it: if I remember correctly the mechanisms of LBP1, I think you can use a piston on max speed and reverse motion. | To do this, just set stiff piston with grab switch attached. The switch should be set for directional. Also make sure the piston is set to inverse deirection. This should cause the elevated piston to lower when you grab, and quickly shoot up when you let go.
