Some Ideas I've thought of!

Archive: 11 posts

Hey, whenever I'm making levels/objects, they usually require quite a bit of logic, as i prefer technical things over good looking things. And there's always something that Mm missed a trick with.

Here's a few:

:star: A Score counter that counts every certain number of points; for example, say you were making a mini game, in said mini game you want something to happen every 250pts. Currently, you'd have to create many point sensors going up in 250 pts, meaning it can get really tiresome and limited to a certain degree. With the counter that activates every so many points which would make it a whole lot quicker and simpler.

:star: Ability to set logic to your own default settings. Say in the tweak menu, there's a sub heading in which you can either reset it to your custom default, and a little 'tick' box for when you want something to be your defaults. For example, i hardly use the 'Gravity Tweaker' unless i'm suspending something in mid-air, which i have to have everything at 100% gravity ( I have it captured at these settings in my objects, but this means i have to exit the logic section and go back to my objects).

:star: The ability to share pods and costumes. This would mean you could get amazing pods from great designers. I know costumes are shareable via sackbots, but that method is annoying. Also, a proper Pod editting mode. So you can edit it properly and make it your own, also removes the awkward camera movement!

I do have quite a few more; but i can't remember them at the moment. Leave your ideas below!

I like the default settings idea. I think you should be able to capture certain states of sensors and stuff and save them in a custom logic bag or something.2011-06-29 15:45:00

1. That would be useful

2.This would help me SO much because all of my levels use alot of logic and resetting everyone gets annoying

Yeah, i cant think of any kind of solution for the first without the need for multiple score sensors. As for the 2nd, i have worked around the problem, kinda. If you didn't know, you can create your own categories (Go the object, go to category, go to add new category). Using the category thing, I capture every bit of logic that i constantly use, but then have to change the settings. Also, i like order, so having categories really helps my OCD (I don't actually have it)

'm always thinking of ways to improve LBP while im playing, so i'll update this thread!

Well, I know about making custom folders for objects, but I dont like switching back and forth between goodies and tools. I wish you could capture to the tools bag.2011-06-29 16:04:00

I like the Score Counter idea. I'm not sure what I'd use it for, but having more tools is nice.

Might as well recap my ideas here:

Power-Ups: Dashinators, Climbinators, Propellinator, Flashlight, Drillinator, Blaster
Emitters: Wind Emitter
Movers: Propeller
Sensors: Wind Sensor, Light Sensor, Weather Sensor
World Tweakers: Global Weather Object
Level Kit: Warp Point, Boost Pad, Boost Ring
Sackbots: Sackbot Models, Pose Editor, Expression Editor, Animation Sequencer
Bullets: Acid, Nitrogen

My thanks to fellow LBPC forum goers for inspiring some of my ideas.

New idea: Multichip

This is a new version of the Microchip that allows you to update multiple microchips simultaneously. There are two ways this can work:

1. You connect a wire from the base Multichip or "Alpha" chip to every other Multichip you wish to edit in the same manner. When you make a change to the "Alpha" chip, the chips it is connected to will automatically update to match it.
2. You set a tag and if desired a label for the Multichips you wish to connect. When you edit any one of them, they all update simultaneously.

This would be most useful for logic systems that repeat throughout the level, obviously. But it could also be used to create a quick template that you can then modify by manually separating individual chips.

Bullets: Acid

1.What would that do that a normal sequencer can't? You didn't explain it

2.Again, no explanation?

3.Couldn't you use gas or green plasma?

I have a beta shareable pod glitch I'm working on. it might be crazy eough to work, too.2011-07-02 23:04:00

1.What would that do that a normal sequencer can't? You didn't explain it

2.Again, no explanation?

3.Couldn't you use gas or green plasma?

1. Like the Music Sequencer, it's a specialized sequencer deigned to work exclusively with the Pose and Expression Editors. You place Pose Editors on the Sequencer in the order you want them to activate with the intention of creating an animation. Each Pose Editor represents a "frame" if you will, and by placing several on the sequencer you create an animation. Expression Editors work the same way, only they affect the face, not the body.

2. No explanation about what? If you want me to explain something, you have to indicate what needs explaining.

3. I thought it up when suggesting a Sci-Fi pack in another thread, along with Nitrogen. Yes, Acid is another hazard similar to Electricity or Plasma, but I figured it would be different enough in appearance as a sort of lethal liquid, a more dangerous water if you will. I only pictured Acid being a bullet type though, not a hazard like Fire, Electricity, or Plasma.

Not that you asked, but in case anyone's wondering: Nitrogen is a semilethal bullet type that freezes any Sackperson it hits. They can break free, but are rendered immobile until they do, leaving them open to greater threats. Like Acid, Nitrogen resembles Water but with a more opaque appearance.

The main reason I didn't explain my ideas here is because most of them were already explained in the topics they were introduced. But if people are okay with a lenghty post detailing my ideas, I can oblige. It might be helpful to gather them all in one place, anyway.
