What to do about corrupt profile?
Archive: 15 posts
So my PSP has been broken for a few months (freezing/not turning on), but I decided to try it yesterday and it seemed to be working a little better for some reason. I downloaded a system update and was able to implement that and also found some corrupt data on my memory card (idk what saves they were) and just deleted them So then I put in LBP and sure enough, I had the corrupt profile error after the loading screens. Now I know many of you have had problems like this, so I was just curious, is there anything to do about it other than just straight-up deleting my profile? I didn't make any back ups but I don't really mind deleting the profile if it means my game will finally start working again and not freezing every 5 minutes. I'm just curious if there is anything else to try before as a last resort. Also, how do I delete my profile if that's the only option? Sorry I'm horrible with electronics and stuff. | 2011-06-27 23:19:00 Author: metsfan1025 Posts: 181 |

I've seen that thread Silver but I figured it was a bit... dated I guess. So basically, since it's telling me it's corrupted and I have no back-up, I'm out of options? | 2011-06-28 00:27:00 Author: metsfan1025 Posts: 181 |

i once fixed my profile without a backup i did it by: - backing up my corrupted profile - starting a new profile - comparing the files between the two - i realised that one file in the corrupted folder was strangely 0 kb so i replaced it with the file of the same name from the new profile - retried the old backup - and it worked!* *it took a lot more trial and error than that (about a week of replacing files and starting the game again) but this was the way i eventually fixed it. | 2011-06-28 07:53:00 Author: darcyh Posts: 191 |
I had a profile crash yesterday, just erase your data if you don't have a backup and replay story mode. Stupid monkey thief king keeps annoying me with his fire balls. | 2011-06-28 08:33:00 Author: nysudyrgh Posts: 5482 |
I've seen that thread Silver but I figured it was a bit... dated I guess. So basically, since it's telling me it's corrupted and I have no back-up, I'm out of options? Same exact thing happened to me a while ago. I got fully corrupted with no backup. Here's whatcha do.. Don't panic. Delete data under saved data. (I'm not sure whether u delete profile data or lbp data, you might wanna get conformation on that..) Zip through story mode again. This is what I did, it seems you don't have any other choice, so you might as well. Doing this will not destroy any dlc you've bought, so don't worry about that. | 2011-06-28 16:40:00 Author: anoken Posts: 1654 |
Okay thank you all, just didn't want to do anything that I didn't have to. I guess it's back to story mode for me | 2011-06-28 18:14:00 Author: metsfan1025 Posts: 181 |
YES, I finally aced the Thieves' den. Errrm, I mean good luck with the story mode. (No, really I mean it.) | 2011-06-28 18:35:00 Author: nysudyrgh Posts: 5482 |
Yeah everyone here pretty much covered this, but just head over here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=42450-PSP-Create-for-Dummies-%E2%9C%94) for extra tips on how to prevent this from happening in the future. | 2011-06-28 23:31:00 Author: WoodburyRaider Posts: 1651 |
Haha Nys, I'm far more worried about Tinsel Town just thinking about those levels is bringing up bad memories. And thanks again Woodbury. I think my PSP has a hardware problem though, it's still freezing/shutting off quite a bit, and I haven't entered tried create mode yet . I was able to download and play some levels from the community moon, so that's better than it's been for the past 2 months. | 2011-06-30 19:37:00 Author: metsfan1025 Posts: 181 |
Haha Nys, I'm far more worried about Tinsel Town just thinking about those levels is bringing up bad memories. The S-ss-Sewn I-I-IIdentity, Must ace them ... Must ace them. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *sniff* Why must you be so difficult ? No really, I aced them now. Only Three Turbo! levels left. Good luck for you again, coz they're real pains to ace. | 2011-07-01 13:44:00 Author: nysudyrgh Posts: 5482 |
i don't know what you all are complaining about. acing tinsel town was a challenge and i had a lot more fun doing that than playing the rest of story mode | 2011-07-02 00:34:00 Author: darcyh Posts: 191 |
This happened to me as well. I however had a 6 month old backup to woork with though. Save a copy of the corrupt on a computer and delete the whole profile off your psp mem card. This makes lbp start you with a new profile. Now, either get a 100% story mode level or find the old story mode file in your corrupt profile and replace it in new one. Now go to community moon and download all the levwls you had up there. This is exactly what i did so i hope it helps you One more thing. GO GET A NEW PSP! They r only like a hundred at gamestop now or less | 2011-07-13 14:30:00 Author: Ricky-III Posts: 732 |
