Wobble Bolt Question

Archive: 7 posts

i'm creating Willie Scott from Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom. She is the singing blonde wearing the red dress in the video below.

I urge you to watch the whole video as it is a great scene from my favourite movie of all time.

At 53 seconds in to the video you see Willie Scott move back and forth across the screen moving her arms. I can recreate this in LBP Create Mode. easily by having the body and upper arm of Willie Scott in the back layer and the forearm in the middle layer. By attaching a the upper arm and forearm together at the bottom of eachother with a wobble bolt i can have the fore arm move back and forth much like windscreen wipers. I set it at 90 degrees and have the angle set at the top so it moves across in the way I desire.
But when i take it off pause, the forearm moves in a circle until it is hanging down the bottom before moving in the windscreen wiper way that I want. I figured out how to fix this by placing the angle at the bottom so it spins in a circle until it is at the angle I want. And seeing as it won't be right at the beginning of the level you won't see it spin in a circle to the desired angle.

What i was asking is if anybody had an explanation for this. I have tried it with the tightness at its maximum and its minimum.

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance,

What your seeing is the offset at work, If you have an object set up to wobble at an ofset of 0 then it will work just fine the way it is. However as soon as you change that offset the object has to travel a bit before everything is ready to go with its new set of values, this is very similar to the way pistons sometimes behave after taking the game off pause mode, there is nothing wrong with the way you have it set up, you just have to let it run for a moment and all the "kinks" will work themselves out.2008-12-12 18:44:00

but it spins a bit before going to what it should be but in a different position than what i set it.
