Time Exile

Archive: 19 posts

Hello, i'd like to know what you guys think of my latest level Time Exile, it's a platformer with a little story and a lot of eye candy. I hope. It's about a time travel experiment gone wrong and instead of travelling 10 mintues into the future, you travel 7 million years!

**Please note i don't always have access to the internet, maybe one weekend every 2 weeks, but i will queue you're levels and play them as soon as i can**

Wow, incredible level. Cut-scenes were really cool, and the atmosphere was really neat and believable. The creatures would really surprise me and keep me on my toes (didn't know where another one would pop out from) and they all looked excellent. The level could have used a bit of material and sticker variety, but mostly visuals were top notch. The one thing that bothered me was the boss (which looked really cool) because he caused some drastic slow down, and I didn't realize that I had to first throw the "poop?" at first. When I had done that and was directed to the "bomb?" I grabbed on to it and it made a bridge which I though I had to use to get across (which of course didn't work) so when the checkpoint alarm went off I was like "what the heck" and threw the bridge into the "river? lake? gas?" and it ended up working (very lucky on my part). But I really enjoyed the level, and thought it was really well made. Looking forward to the sequel (or you just had a really depressing ending)

When you get the chance please provide feedback for my level Topiary Tower Tragedy

Thank you, i agree about the boss it is abit unclear as to what to do,a friend was stuck on it aswell. Soon as i can think of a way to make it more understandable i will edit that. Oh and i really hate cheesy happy endings lol. I will queue your level and leave feedback either tonight or the morning, then after tomorrow i won't be on for a week or two so to anyone else who posts i will queue and play you're levels soon as i can. Oh btw its not poop, but i really can't tell you what it is,because i'm not sure myself 2011-06-27 11:37:00

No problem I'm glad to help. About the boss, if you make the stuff you have to throw land on the place sackboy is standing, it will make it much more clear. With the bomb I would try to make it that when you pull it down it 100% sure falls straight through rather than lands and makes a bridge. I don't remember what angle it was originally but maybe a gyroscope could help, or just make the space it falls through bigger, or even make it on a different plane if possible. Of course if none of that is possible you could always make it so that when you grab it, it immediately blows up. Just some suggestions . Btw the comment about the ending wasn't a criticism, I just thought it meant a sequel.2011-06-27 22:05:00

Loved it as usual, most issues I had with it have been mentioned, the boss slowdown and all.
Curious though, what's up with the strange lump of metal underwater...?

That is the statue that you see in the beginning, now a rusty ruin that has sank to the bottom of the river that has deepend after 7 million years.

I've fixed the boss lag, and improved alot of stuff particularly at he beginning

Hi, just played your level.

Pros:
- The argument and the beginning sequence.
- The visuals.

Cons:
- Sometimes you don't know where to go...
- The final boss, there are too few lifes! (couldn't finish the level :/)

Anyway good work!

Please leave me feedback at my level https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56955-Math-Millionaire-Quiz

Cool, I actually found and played your level before I saw it in these forums. I was off promoting it on another forum I absolutely loved the visuals and the opening sequence. Though I am with the other guys on getting a bit lost, but I also kind of like that it gave me a sense of exploration.

I haven't actually finished it yet, but I have queued it up again for another go, especially since I saw you updated it after I played it the first time.

Just finished playing this level and thoroughly enjoyed it. The time travel experience in the intro is very well done. Not quite sure what you have done with the camera shake but it seems to fit in sync really well with the falling bits and pieces and explosions.

The main platforming level is also done with the same attention to detail. This is some of the best lighting I have seen in a level for a long time. You have done really well in creating this future enviroment where humans no longer exist.

Smiley faced and hearted.

F4F: Please play my level The Wheels Of Revoultion and place feedback (thread below). Thank you.

Hello gigglecrab (amusing name BTW),

Played your level, was very good. It's clear (at least to me) that you were going for a bit of an "Enslaved" vibe, with the green moss growing everywhere, and the rusty reminants of the past. The whole look of the level was great.

Really liked the opening cutscene, had a nice but of humour in there.

2 small little niggles for me:

-Wasn't always easy to see which way you should go.
-The boss fight seemed a bit untidy. I mean, I'm not sure what was supposed to happen with that rocket thing, but it fell and got stuck.

Now, if you could lend a fellow Brit a hand and play my "You Sunk My Sackleship" level with an online chum, and leave feedback in my thread, I'd be very thankful. (Links in sig, terms and conditions apply)

just played this last night and wanted to tell you that I was amazed by this level. the opening and closing cinematics are impressive and the overall design was stunning. I got lost a couple of times but didn't mind because I was too busy looking at all the scenery (probably why I got lost in the first place) There is so much awe and wonder in this level you have to play it several times to see it all. great story. the different creatures you encounter are simply amazing and I love the varied landscapes. Awesome job.

If this doesn't get spotlighted, it'll be an outrage.

I played this level a few hours ago and it was a pretty impressive level.

VISUALS:
The plants are well made with certain objects and stickers, and the movies are well put.

SOUND:
Good use of Avalonia interactive music.

GAMEPLAY:
The platforming is good. I think you should replace the double life checkpoint with infinite checkpoint in the boss' area, but I managed to beat it with the missile right where I only have one life left.

OVERALL:
This is pretty good level with amazing look of plants and solid gameplay. This level deserves a sequel (if a sackboy survives an explosion). A yay.

Thank you, alot of people have said they died before being able to kill the boss, so yeah i think i will put a inf life checkpoint there. I am thinking about making a sequel, but sadly the sackboy who went through is lost forever, this time you will be playing as the scientist who sent him.

I will queue your level and leave feedback tonight.

Wow, this level is just wow and shows us the seemingly infinite possibilities of LBP 2. When one has enough imagination, they can achieve anything, really. Anyway, I decided to give this level a full review, because it's really worth it.

PRESENTATION
Outstanding, magnificent, superhuman? Yes, we can apply nearly every superlative to express the visual brilliance of this level, which is really what made it so special. It already starts at the beginning where you show that the correct usage of stickers on materials can make the scene so much more interesting and realistic. The fact that the time machine is situated inside the crazy professor?s shed only increases the believability of this level. After the time machine was put to work and you stepped outside, it was like being in a different world. The scene is so lively and vivid, it's really showing nature has taken over in the past couple of million years. The usage of stickers is again what made this thing just magnificent. Believe me, when it comes to visuals, people often forget that stickers and decorations make up a vital part of it and can change a scene entirely. The monsters (or should I call them animals?) themselves were also very original and looked quite realistic. This is where you scored most of your points. Excellent work. Also, the environment of this level really looks like the game Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Also green and vivid. Perhaps you?ve got a little inspiration from that game.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Because cut scenes are a vital part of this creation, I figured I?d cover this subject on its own. The opening scene is just brilliant. The statue of The Thinker in the opening shot was really a piece of eye candy and immediately got my attention. The camera angles were just really smooth and the dialogue couldn?t be better. The crazed doctor pressing the buttons was a very believable animation and the whole scene falling apart was done great. The actor himself was also very believable. The way he looked and acted give him just a little character depth that is another plus to this level.

GAMEPLAY
Gameplaywise there just isn?t much to it, but that doesn?t matter, because you already sold me by the way it looks. Absolutely stunning. The layered grappling and jumping was well done and the boss battle was a nice touch. The visuals just made the level kind of short. I?d love to see a sequel to this.

ORIGINALITY
In terms of originality this level has MM Pick written all over it. I think it?ll be just a matter of moments before you?ll be picked, because this little thing shows us yet again what our minds are capable of creating. I don't think I've ever seen such a level before. Not this green, this alien and this unique. I absolutely loved it. I hearted and yayed it and can?t wait for a sequel to come out. Very well done.

OVERALL
This has to be one of the best levels I've ever seen. It has great cinematics and absolutely stunning visuals. Plus, everything is covered with loads and loads of originality sauce. You?ve got my vote and I already sent this level to MM. Pick this, I beg you, pick this.

This looks amazing. Just wondering what's that green sticker you use (3rd picture)? It looks like the greenery used in Luos's level for tree foliage but I don't seem to have it? Looks like a green bush with frayed edges.

I'll be queuing this one up for later

This level was incredible from an atmosphere standpoint. The incorporation of the foliage and insects into the level was seamless and beautiful, you certainly have a knack for it. Well done!2011-07-27 00:41:00

I had this level in my queue from a while ago and finally got round to playing last night.

First off it's incredibly grand! So much going on, I expected it to end at a few different points but it just kept on going. The opening cutscene was brilliantly executed so well done on that. Level design wise you have some great effects in there like the bug swarm that zipped across the screen.

There were a few nitpicks. The main one being it wasn't always obvious where to go, too much green maybe? It was difficult to tell which parts were scenery and which parts were platforms so navigating at points wasn't easy. I also fell through the level at one point resulting in me having to pop myself to get back, I took a snapshot so I'll upload that so I can show you where. The boss was also a little confusing, but visually brilliant.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of content on offer here, and an enjoyable level overall. If you could, as F4F please check out my level in my sig, thanks.
