Into The Shadows: Path Of Destiny

Archive: 9 posts

here it is...part one of the series. if i am honest i'm not entirely happy with it as i run out of space and wanted to add more to it...and there is a cutscene at the end that i couldn't do as i wanted to, the movie camera was acting up. so i had to cut that short. as the level discription says it won't make much sense if you have not seen the intro movie...so...http://lbp.me/v/1gzrt7

id like to get some feedback...whats good? whats bad? what i can improve? the next parts i have in mind will be alot better as its the part of the story where the player will have to confront his enemies and their evil master...i have some real cool ideas for that.

so yeah some feedback would be greatly appreciated :-) thank you

I remember playing the trailer to this and thinking that was excellent. The first level in the series continues where that left off, especially in the great camera work. The raft scene in this level is one of the best use of alternating camera views I've seen so far. The mist shrouded environment really sets the tone for the level, mysterious and ominous. The cave was well designed with the close game cam making it feel suitably claustrophobic. The action on arrival in the village was well staged, liked the Ninjas disappearing in a puff of smoke. Will definitely play the next installment.
Only constructive feedback I can offer is:
- maybe less reliance on MM created scenic content such as the mushroom trees, your own trees would a more stylised original aspect to the visuals.
- not overly keen on alternating dialogue between player and characters, seems forced and not entirely necessary for narrative structure. Maybe adding voices to the mouths would help.
Overall a great series worth checking out, especially for ninja fans!

thanx for the feedback man. appreciate it. i wanted to make my own trees but it was alot easier to just use the MM ready made one and to move on with the level quickly. ive got a couple other projects going on so im trying to split my time equally. i just published my fur elise remake actually. and yeah the dialogue, i can understand that it feels forced upon but my intentions are focused on story and atmosphere but i assure you the next level will be different as the main character enters the ninja fortress...should be cool. but im taking in what you said and i will make the appropriate changes. thanx for following the series by the way

i queued snow white and will defo play it and post some feedback!

Hi. Just played your level.

Pros:
- The visuals! The beginning is the best part. And also the variety: dark forest, water cave, fired village...

Cons:
- Too short
- Maybe too much talking scenes?
- When you enter in the cave and have to jump above the pillars: if you die, when you appear again, you can see the top border of the scenario sometimes because of the camera. You should make higher that part of the cave.

Ideas:
- Add more bubble points.
- Add lightings to the beginning, it would be perfect.

Anyway I liked it. Keep working!

Please leave me feedback at my level https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56955-Math-Millionaire-Quiz

Very cinematografic, there's not much gameplay, but what there is nice.
I loved the cutscenes and the story, and the ambience and the fog really shines. I loved all the enviroments.
I think you could make a really good LBP interactive film out of this!

Please give feedback on my levels! F4F!

thanx for the feedback. a couple people have told me its short but i overheated. i did originally say i wanted to add more but it wasn't possible. i did also state that it was a more visual and story based level so there would not be your traditional gameplay. BUT there will be in the next two parts. i didn't know about the cave bit ( where you can see the above it ) i tested the level many times and it was fine. i designed for one player so anymore than one can cause a couple of the camera's to glitch. but thank you for point it out and ill be sure to fix that. i recommend you guys check out the intro " into the shadows: the beginning "

ill queue and play your levels now and leave feedback

I played this after i played your matrix level and it was pretty good the cinematic views were nice though a few times i did feel like i was being thrown side to side by the camera. Other than that the detail and look of the level was amazing i really enjoyed the end when it went yellow and everything was burning.2011-07-29 13:23:00

This level has an incredible atmosphere, absolutely brilliant. It is definitely more of a cinematic level and I personally don't feel it's too short like others have said, but I do think I know what the problem is. Like I say, it's cinematic, but there are points where gameplay do crop up a couple of times. In a cinematic level I think you have to make it so that the flow isn't broken up - the puzzle underwater, while brilliantly executed, did seem to disrupt the flow. Like wise with the pillars, I died a couple of times and this caused a disruption. I believe a cinematic level shouldn't really add too much challenge, and most importantly shouldn't really let the player die. The reason this may make players feel that the level is short is because they expect some gameplay at the end but instead, it ends abruptly. There's some gameplay, but not enough to classify it as a gameplay level... if that makes sense? And as such players were expecting one or two more puzzles. I read you've overheated so there's not much you can do, but even adding a puzzle during the forest section would probably help. Personally I didn't have an issue with it, I'm just trying to maybe give a reason why you're getting comments about the level's length?

I noticed the same issue a couple of people have mentioned about the pillar section, when you respawn you see the edge of the level.

I also had a little trouble getting the boat to move? Maybe that was just me as in the end I used my momentum from running back and forth to get it to shift, but it wasn't very efficient.

I really enjoyed it, keep it up. Interestingly I've just seen you did the Matrix level which I also played yesterday, so I'll go and leave feedback for that.

As F4F could you please check out the level in my sig, thanks.

As promised, my review!

So as we start the level I'm immediately drawn to the attention to detail. The atmosphere is terrific and the lightning is very well done. Music fits the general feel of the level precisely.

The camera angles on the raft don't seem to flow very nicely, perhaps there's another way for you to do it that would make it transition more seamlessly? The raft ride itself gets a little long-winded as well.

At the first checkpoint and into the cave now. I like the panning camera across the abyss, looks good, also the music change is wonderful. You can see over the top of the cave when you spawn however, maybe add a bit more material to the top to prevent this from happening, or change the camera angle a tad. I do like during the underwater part that there is no rush to get more air; as you complete the simple puzzle you will automatically acquire it.

Change of scenery again, very well done. At the second burning hut is is difficult to see which layer to go on without getting burned but that's a small potato. I also auggest fixing up the grammar on some of the subtitles

Overall: Very well done, and to the people who said it was too short I think that its story-based quality makes up for it. A great play, recommended. Yay!
