Some fantastic sounding levels there - I'm looking forward to playing the ones I've not come across. Congratulations to all the creators on the list!

Thanks to the whole Spotlight team for all their hard work! A special thanks to rialrees, though! Her energy is amazing as she not only does the current Spotlight but is pivotal to the backlog too, playing a large number of the levels and keeping us all organised as well! Without her humour and hard work, we wouldn't have got as far as we have and it certainly wouldn't have been such fun!

Thanks again for a great spotlight feature and thanks for the special mention of my level "Deflective Warfare" too! Once again I must say to any who want to play it, please make sure you have at least one online friend with you to verse. It's no fun driving tanks around without friends to watch you blow the *&%$ of things including them... and ofcourse being blown up yourself! But the best is with 4 players. Thanks again and I look forward to the next installment. 2011-06-26 11:26:00

And as usual, a big thanks to our Spotlight Crew. Keep up the great work!

(also, sorry for the delay... the Spotlight Search Engine (http://spotlight.lbpcentral.com/) is now updated with this new crop of levels).

Wow excellent spotlight. Thanks to the crew for putting in the footwork and weeding out the duds to bring us this amazing list. I also want to congratulate my buddies. Nick930930, your of fire bro. Your getting on this list the past three episodes is very cool. I am happy to see you make the top of the list as Switcheroo is pure zany fun and I enjoyed lending a hand. LFiers, Congrats on the honorable mention. Honestly I feel you belong on the main list. Deflective Warfare is so well put together and fun with a few more maps and powerups I could see it as a stand-alone downloadable game on the PSN Store. It takes a great understanding of logic to appreciate all the nuances that this level produced. From the deflections to the scoring, it is a MASTERPIECE! **** shame that some people don't really "get" that.2011-06-26 22:59:00

Thanks very much for the spotlight! this was a very unexpected treat. And the top of the list too! Not sure if that is any different from any other spot on the list considering I think a lot of the levels on this list are much better (especially that russian one!)

Congrats to my lil bro Dan930930 for getting honorable mention for his Frozen Shaft level. I've been bugging him to publish that level for months XD

Keep up the great work LBPC! Its nice to get 10+ new levels to play every other week

Thanks so much for appreciating the logic & nuances & for the kind words Alley_Cat. & yes the logic was quite bonkers! A few other people also said a similar thing to me on PSN & saying I should be on the main list. Yeah to be on the main Spotlight list for "Deflective Warfare" would've been even nicer I won't lie... Oh well. A mention is still a mention which is better than no mention at all so I'm happy. Maybe next time i'll make it to the main list. I still have my fingers crossed for "Symphony of Dissonance" to break my drought.

I'mma be upfront about this, but I sense favoritism from the staff spotlighting team. This has been going on since I've been a member of the site. I truly think it's very unprofessional that the other staff members are allowing this nonsense.

I say this because I know that there were other creators that deserved the spotlight more than others up there. I won't name names for now, but if you wished, I'll name them. I've been seeing members of the staff constantly getting picked as spotlights regardless if their game/level was good or not, that they were solely picked on behalf that they are their own judges and/or them having connections.

I've seen some of the worst games up there with the same genre as other creators who worked harder, yet they were overlooked because the guy who got picked is a friend of the staff, that's very unfair and again, very unprofessional. One in particular, I won't point fingers just yet, made a game that I can practically throw up in less than 24 hours put together. That game was picked over another game I've played which was at the very least 20 times better.

So I decided to backtrack, I took noticed that the creator was a good friend of the spotlight staff.... of course he'll pick his friend's game, be it good or bad. And seeing as the others follow in that same footsteps, I feel the team should be ashamed of themselves. Yeah, I speak my mind, ban me if you wished, but it only proves more that you're hiding the truth.

End the favoritism..

Favouritism does NOT exist on the Spotlight Crew, I can tell you that now. Everyone is very impartial and several verdicts are required on one level to make sure it gets into the post. We would take a VERY dim view of it if one of the crew said "Hey pick this level my friend made it". The purpose of the Spotlight Crew is to highlight levels we feel make good entertainment for LBP players from LBPC's level showcase, not for connected people to scratch each other's backs. And obviously our choices are subjective - you're not going to agree with us on every last level. (While I'm here I'll say that I played no part/gave no bribes/offered no cookies to my fellow crew members for spotlighting my levels over the past few episodes. I'm honoured that my levels are considered good enough to be put on that list - thanks guys!)

If you're adamant that you believe some levels deserved to be up there - levels have been missed before, and we've corrected the post as soon as we found out; feel free to PM me or one of the other crew with a list of the levels you think deserve to be up there. Chances are we've played them, and we've delivered verdicts on them. But please don't write derogatively about other peoples' creations - how would you feel if someone told you they could "throw up" over your hard work?

PS: Congratulations creators, lots of great stuff up there! And thanks for the hard work of the crew, temporary and permanent - the backlog's now 1/3 empty, wahoo!

Regarding favouritism in this spotlight, I can only echo what Holguin has said.

No member of the spotlight crew shows the slightest sign of any sort of bias towards other members of the crew, or our acquaintances outside of the crew.

To be completely honest, in my personal experience, I am too concerned with playing the level to worry about who actually published it. No names are written in the spreadsheet that we work from (only lbp.me and thread links), and unless I recognise somebody's earth (and I rarely do) I often find myself stopping halfway through a good level to check the details and find out who actually published it! So no, I never enter a level with a predetermined thought in my mind about whether it will be picked or not, and I have complete faith that nobody else here does either.

If you think we really have missed out a fantastic level, please do tell us what it is - issues with moved posts in the past have meant that we have had to add a level back in to a later episode to make sure it is played - so perhaps there is a level that was overlooked - its rare but it can happen.

I can't seem to imagine you are referring to me with this, considering (http://lbp.me/v/1v1tsn/reviews)... T.T

The spotlight team exhibits no favoritism, sure you have a right to an opinion, but not enough to bash others ideas wrong simply because you disagree. And when you say one in particular, hmmmmmmm, now who on earth could that be judging by this (http://lbp.me/v/1v1tsn/reviews).

I'm way good friends with OEB and Joey, but you need 3 oks to spotlight a level fyi, and I'm guessing I earned those because believe it or not some other people found my level entertaining and interesting.

Sorry to ruin the mood of the thread, but I felt like I needed to let that out.

Once again great job you guys, there are a ton of levels to play and thanks for the spotlight!

So that's why "Life" had a sudden rush of new plays. This is certainly a surprise!

I can't tell you how honoured I am to have my little Game of Life experiment featured on this list, though the big, dumb grin on my face should explain my feelings somewhat.

Thank you all so, so much and congratulations to everyone else on the list. I'm looking forward to playing every single level here as soon as I get home!

You see, now I got you guys contradicting each other. Having you secretly admitting that this was a bias decision, by your own choice of words, maybe without you realizing it. Thus, still leads me to conclude that this was an act of favoritism. I shall prove my case.

Jayhawk_er here claims that you need THREE spotlight staffs in order to approve the title. It's contradiction was made by you(Holguin86), when you stated "At least TWO members must be in agreement before the level is spotlighted" and also when you stated "All I can say is that both levels have been played by at least two of the crew, and fairly judged.". Last time I checked the spotlight feedbacks from the staffs, there were only TWO reviews. JayHawk_er also claims that he's friends with OneEyedBanshee and Joey..... hmmmm..... is everyone still following me here? Let's all count that together please... One.... Two... Well there you go Holguin86, he got the required amount of members to approve his game into the spotlight....

To point out the bias statement you made via Private Messages. You stated "OK, I can't really pass judgement on the levels in question because I didn't play levels for the crew last week. I will say though, that I trust their judgement." take great noticed of the bold and underlined portion. You trust their judgement, without proper investigation as to whether my allegations were true or not, which means you favor their party over me simply because they are staff members, that's just plain out being bias.

Another thing I caught you contradicting yourself is when you stated "So I can't see it being a ploy by OneEyedBanshee to get his friends' levels into the Spotlight, as more than one person agrees and I believe he didn't even give a verdict for Jet Strike anyway." Last time I checked, OneEyedBanshee WAS in fact one of the reviewers for that particular game. Check it yourself.

I find it rather funny how you tried to cover the tracks with this statement, although it may be true, but I HIGHLY doubt it. So this is what you said "Creator names are not included on our database so we have no idea who the level is by until we've played it - the crew just play straight down the list." Regardless of the members not having the names of the game creator, what makes you believe that OneEyedBanshee had no clue what the name of his friend's game name was... Hell, I know what all my LBP friends are working on, name and genre. You're not going to tell me that JayHawk_er and OneEyedBanshee, who has worked on MTG series together and are good friends, wouldn't know what their friends are working on??? Please don't feed me those lies. I'm not as gullible as some of the younger members of this site who would believe just about everything you guys say. I seek the truth and I've found it.

-LoVeRiCe

Favouritism does NOT exist on the Spotlight Crew, I can tell you that now. And obviously our choices are subjective - you're not going to agree with us on every last level.

Of course you're going to say that Favoritism does NOT exist, because if that was true, it'll give the site a bad name and members of the staffs along with it. I have good reasons and evidences that supports my allegations concerning the choices made during the course of the spotlighting. Yet, you failed as a responsible staff to fully investigate this issue..... not to mention many other details as well.

If you're adamant that you believe some levels deserved to be up there. But please don't write derogatively about other peoples' creations - how would you feel if someone told you they could "throw up" over your hard work?

Yes, I most certainly do feel that there are more well deserved game creators up there, that should replace some of the ones chosen up there, for this week and some from the previous weeks. Derogative? What... I can't be upfront about a level? If anyone knows me, they know that I hold nothing back when I speak, I'll tell you straight out if your game is lame or should be fame. That particular game we're discussing is an epic fail, gameplay-wise. When I said I can "Throw Up" his game in 24 hours or less, I meant it, challenge me to do it, I'll do it, I will even make it BETTER(When I say 24 hours, I meant 24 legitimate full hours). Hell, if someone thinks they can "Throw Up" the game I've made, state it now and prove to me that you can. I guarantee you that the person taking the challenge won't be able to even figure out half of the logics I used to create my game.

I have made a private response to your complaints with the PM you sent me, LoVeRiCe - please, keep the convo there instead of turning this thread into another argument. Thanks.

Oh so you can hide the facts from the people and the community? I'm not trying to cause any trouble, all I ever wanted was a fair judgement and ruling. I took in something very suspecious among the spotlighting staffs, by addressing it to the public and to you, hoping you would help me solve this case. As to whether or not my allegations were true, yet you're still going by this code "I Trust them". Great help you are.

I can send you countless PMs back and forth, but if I did that, how would the people know if the team is being legitimate or not? It's like having police officers taking a criminal to a backroom with no cameras, they beat him up... they cover each other, no one will know what really happened in the backroom. They can easily say "Oh, he slipped and fell, that's why his face is bashed in.... trust us, we're the authorities =)".... without the cameras (community), no one will ever know, other than the criminal and the police officers involved. Don't drag me into a situation where my words will be silenced by the power of your staffing abilities, it wouldn't be fair game or a fair case for me now would it?

You turned something so small into something so big. All I wanted was a simple investigation on the staff because there's something fishy going on, this isn't seen just by my lonesome, this is seen by many other people as well. Since no one is willing to speak out, I chose to speak for them on their behalf.

When friends are involved with this so called "Subjective" it just isn't, it's more along the lines of "I picked you, cuz you're my friend and I feel obligated to =), cheers!!".

An 'investigation' has been made on our private forum, and we have checked and double checked the verdicts given on all three levels in question.

I can only speak for myself here, but I personally gave a verdict on all of these levels. Being as you are obviously in need of further explanation, I'll give you a rundown of those who played each level, and you can check their recent activity for yourself:

Jetstrike verdict reached by:
Rialrees, Oneeyedbanshee

Blazing Hawks verdict reached by:
Rialrees, Lightmare

Reign of the Armada verdict reached by:
Oneeyedbanshee, Valmassoi, Smasher, Lightmare, Rialrees

As this clearly shows, the fact that you brought up an issue regarding your level to us meant that we got more plays in to give a verdict. This is the system. Expecting this many people to play EVERY level is completely unrealistic. Expecting us to have no friends or acquaintances in LBP is simlarly unrealistic. We all do our best to remain unbiased throughout the spotlighting process, and I believe we do a good job of it. In fact, in the past few weeks there are plenty of levels made by spotlighters and friends of spotlighters which have not been given a spotlight, or even a nod. If we were truly biased towards our friends/fellow spotlighters, don't you think they'd all be in the showcase?

We have no problem with you bringing your concerns to the forum, but please, if you want a further investigation in the matter, do dicuss it privately with a member from the crew. That way, we can address your concerns, and prevent a thread which is supposed to be based on positivity and showcasing from being reduced to petty back-and-forth bickering.

It is not a case of hiding facts in a back room, but more of keeping debates organised and civilised. You must understand that yelling from the rooftops about this kind of topic is not just calling us out (which is not the issue) but also stomps on every single level in the showcase. Not only are you questioning a single level's quality, but by questioning our verdict, you are by extension putting a shadow of doubt over the quality of every level in the spotlight.

Not only that, but you are essentially making it appear that a spotlight nod isn't 'good enough', when it is in fact a remarkable achievement in itself. In over 150 levels, to be recommended as a level with everyone else in the article should be a compliment.

To reduce a public thread to mere bickering because of your selfishness is outright disgraceful. You have just fabricated together an invalid argument to use us a scapegoat to frantically blame anyone you can lay eyes on and wasted our time in the process. Why? Is it because you feel like your level hasn't gotten the praise and/or attention it deserved? Do you feel like it should have been spotlighted?

I have tried my best not to reply and sink down to your level, but I feel like you have greatly insulted us. If you somehow still think we are "scheming" with Marvin the Martian to blow up the Earth then I think it be best if you don't read the spotlight altogether.

I have tried my best not to reply and sink down to your level, but I feel like you have greatly insulted us. If you somehow still think we are "scheming" with Marvin the Martian to blow up the Earth then I think it be best if you don't read the spotlight altogether.

Why are you even mentioning my level? This wasn't about my level. This is about all the candidates for this week's episode, my level isn't even involved here, goes to show how much you know about this matter.

How does selfishness play a role here exactly? I'm trying to give attention to other creator's deserving levels, NOT mine, make that clear to yourself, please. I haven't fabricated anything, was merely pointing out the obvious.

Insulted you because I was right? Or insulted you because someone had the nerve to expose the truth? You know why no one else is speaking for my behalf, because they fear of banishment, whereas I, don't. Trust me, that's really the case.... at least for now.

What are you trying to imply when you mentioned Marvin the Martian? That everything is all made up? No, it's not, I speak because I do, as many others suspects foul play. I'm not just one voice, just because you see a single name responding, does not mean I'm alone in this matter. I do this because I do not fear the staffs. I do this because I want justice done right. Call this week a fluke if you will, but it will only open up more cases for past weeks.

I got a statement from one of your staff saying what was done to me was truly unfair. And yes, this involves, no other than OEB himself, go figure.

Look, as far as I know OneEyedBanshee is the only one on the team (that's active) that has any connection with jayhawker. So, your saying he has enough clout to convince us to spotlight One of his friends level? You couldn't be more wrong. To be honest most of us on the crew aren't even really good friends with each other. We're just trying to do a service for the community, and we're trying our best. It's unfortunate that we can't please everyone, all the time. I wish we could. I also, just for the record, want to point out. It's NOT a conspiracy. It's Not favoritism. It's just the way the dice fell this time around. You're stating your argument as fact. It's not fact, it's your point of view of the matter, so I'd say we are at an impasse. We could go on, and on, but it will do no good. Thanks.2011-06-29 14:16:00

I'm really surprised that my level was spotlighted; I honestly did not think it was deserving of one. Nonetheless, thanks for another great spotlight.
