Elbee23's helpful suggestion service
Archive: 11 posts
At the moment I am not focusing on building levels right now but am spending my time polishing the already released ones as well as playing through other people's levels. I know I'm not technically writing reviews, and this service is subject to being closed at any time, but I thought I might spend a bit of time playing through other people's levels and try and see if I can see any technical bugs or other issues and how to improve them. Keep in mind that I'm not the best platformer. If a level is set to a very high difficulty, I will likely struggle to finish it, let alone see if I can recommend anything. Think of it as a Quality Assurance concept, if you are familiar with game design. Don't think of it though as a chance to be lazy, however. If your level is just rushed out without doing some bug testing yourself, then that's more your own problem. I've written an article about it, you can find it here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5473). If you've kept to the suggestions there than that's a good start. As I said, this is not intended to be a detailed review service, but rather a place where I can list suggestions to current levels. My rating system in terms of reviews would be something like Awesome, great, needs work, average and awful. So, if you want me to focus on a level, post below. Keep in mind that I can only spend so much time on this, please be patient. I also reserve the right to stop doing this at any time and also to refuse to attempt a level at my own discretion. As an example of what I do, have a look at the example I did for Hexagohn's "Timmy's Dream". You can find the detailed post at point 20 at the time of writing, and the link is here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5833&page=2). I'll also enforce that you have at least a 10 post minimum on this site, preferrably even more. I must warn you that I'm very detailed when I do this. It's all meant to be advice to make the level work even better. You are free to ignore any and all suggestions, but hopefully it will make for a better experience if you take the plunge. I also wrap in spoiler text the detailed advice I give, so that people who have not yet played the level don't get to see all the little bits explained. If I haven't scared you off, feel free to list a post to your level and I'll try and play through and cover any suggestions that I see! Let me list what I have done here: "The Insane Asylum" by wefordian. Helpful suggestions for this are here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5887) "A Horror Level V1.5" by HERO489 (Stik489) Helpful suggestions are listed here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5892) | 2008-12-12 11:04:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
So I'm not allowed because of my amount of posts? Thats noobism! | 2008-12-12 11:29:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
Ah, now I am! I'd apreciate any suggestion you have, thanks! | 2008-12-12 11:30:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
Double posting is a no-no I'd like you to "review" my level =] A Horror Level V1.5 | 2008-12-12 12:10:00 Author: Stix489 Posts: 2080 |
So I'm not allowed because of my amount of posts? Thats noobism! It's not noobism. I'm not getting paid for this, it's just a hobby I enjoy which I hope helps others. The 10 post minimum is there to encourage people to explore the site a bit before getting free advice. There is plenty to do and see and participate on in this site. It's not hard to do 10 posts. Anyway, I've done the Asylum and horror levels as requested. It takes a fair bit of time to pull apart a level, so I'll have to ask you to be more active on this site if you wanted me to work on your other one as well, wexfordian. So... anyone else interested in taking up this offer? | 2008-12-12 16:02:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
I was only kidding around as that happened to be my ninth and tenth post. Only joined the forum yesterday so have some catching up to do. Thanks again for your comments on "The Insane Asylum". You really do give the level a good testing... | 2008-12-12 16:17:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
Elbee! Please oh please take a look at my newest creation: A Knight's Tale: The Wrath of Bantuk I know it needs tweaking since no one can beat the **** thing, so lemme know what I need to do, since you absolutely rule at it. Thanks brotha Neverynnal | 2008-12-12 23:12:00 Author: Neverynnal Posts: 374 |

Thanks brotha Neverynnal My apologies for the delay in writing. I have read this post and it is on my list of things to do. I've just been very busy with create mode doing things, and I'm having a bit of trouble sleeping right now. I don't want to be attempting this while I'm half asleep and miss some points. I do hope to be getting around to this soon though, likely within a few days. | 2008-12-14 23:28:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |

What a darn tootin' nice guy I'd appreciate feedback on my latest level "The Collector's Workshop" (be better just typing in "Sismna" in the search) if you have the time/desire to do so I assure you I put a lot of work and testing into it so you shouldn't be too disapointed.. The one thing I never really bothered about was aesthetics because of the huge amount of time it took me to make the whole thing work.. But I'm compensating for this with my next level Ok I'm riding the woflcopter.. Anyway it'd be much appreciated if you could give us some feedback on my level, but don't feel that you have to if you don't want to either (I'll probably forget anyway ) Thanks! | 2008-12-27 23:30:00 Author: Pinchanzee Posts: 805 |
