Hi people of LBPCentral, so I got an idea and I wanted to share it with ya. How 'bout a LittleBigPlanet version of the awesome game called Magicka? (Yeah I'll find a fancy title for it) I'll explain it for those who don't know the game (Buy it for 10$ on steam, it's cheap and awesome!) The whole idea The whole idea is pretty much this: You get elements. Life This thing is obvious. It heals stuff. But care, it can heal your enemies too! Can't be combined with Arcane. Just doesn't work. As easy as ABC. Earth Mother nature says hi! Use this to throw rocks at people. Can't be combined with Lightning. Fire Burn baby, burn! Self explanation. You CAN actually combine this with water, but you'll get a new element: Steam Use this to blow your enemies away like a tornado. Only does damage if you blow them to a wall. Can't be combined with Cold. Water Use it to extinguish fire, duh. Your robe will get wet if you use it on yourself, after that you can't use Lightning or it'll hurt you. Can be combined with fire, but steam. Can't be combined with lightning. Lightning Use it to turn stuff on or to sizzle your enemies. Can't be combined with water or earth. Duh. Cold This freezes your enemies. BUT WAIT, you can't combine it with fire. Serious business huh? However, use cold after you used water and you get Ice This thing is like a shotgun. It shoots multiple ice shards. Awesome huh? However, rule #2424921928: Don't combine it with fire. Arcane Hello sir! What are you doi- WOOSH. That is pretty much Arcane. Evil but awesome. Can't be combined with Life. Shield Yeah, shield. Use it to protect stuff. Now for the serious business: You can't combine it with itself. Only 1 shield per combination. But what do you do with these things? WELL, YOU COMBINE STUFF. Wait what? How does that work? Are you crazy? Is it a bird or a plane? Did he died? No, no and no. It works like this: You get 5 magic slots. Kinda like this: OOOOO You can fill them with your elements. Like this: LOOOO Now you set them free and that's where the magic happens: There's tons of combinations. For example Lightning and Arcane would make a ridiculously strong beam and Earth, Shield and Fire would make a awesome protected magic fire stones circle. You get what I mean, right? That, and you will find 'special' spells over the game. You can't use them without learning them. For example rain would be Steam + Cold and Triangle. Remember that, Triangle is the special magic button! If you press the normal button for magic instead of using triangle you won't get your special skill. Got that? Story You guys decide here. What do you think - should I take the story from the original game or use a custom story? Basically I'm for a custom story because I only played the demo but I'm not sure really. You know, like, you point with your cursor and run to your cursor by pressing X. That shouldn't be too hard. But because of that I thought about creating two versions of the game: A move one and a normal one. (Can people without move play move levels too? Because if that is true, I'll only create one version) The character would rotate to the cursor and use his magic with that move button in the middle. (Is that a button? Will you be able to use it in LBP2? If not I would have to use square.) You use X to examine stuff and pick stuff up as well. Oh! Oh! I forgot the most important thing! It'll be a top down RPG. HUD It's the same like in the real game. There's icons with all elements in the bottom left and they blink when their button is pressed. The life bar is above the character, however it would have to be very small as I want to add Co-op too. Also, by using the shield spell you get a shield HUD too, showing how much longer your shield will last. If you use heal it'll heal your shield and not yourself. Multiplayer I will add Multiplayer too, of course! Would be a shame if you couldn't kill each other while fighting a huge snake, right? Everyone would have the same health bar above his head, but each character would have a different colour. We don't want multiple red people going mad in the town, do we? Killing each other is possible, but healing is possible too. However I will add a PvP Arena thingy too so you can focus on killing your friends. All spells are already learned in the arena, you don't have to find stupid books to summon your little dead fellows! Screenshots Adding as soon as possible. Progress 20% Update 19th of July: Heck yeah, I added some cool stuff to the HUD! For example I added buttons over the icons of the elements so people know what to press. Nobodys got the brain of an elephant, right? Also, I added the magic square. You have 4 slots for elements. It would work with all elements, but I got a problem with the arrows on the controller: How do you use the up and the down button alone? I mean, I know you can choose both, but how do you choose for example only the down button? If somebody could help me with that the elements would spawn perfectly. I tried it with the other elements already and it works just like I thought. Maybe you should steer the element thing that way to the basic ones. (If you want to play it, search for "Alchemy" [iPhone & Android only]). I always love originality so I suggest you go for custom story. Make up your own characters and storyline. I'm also not really a big fan of RPG's since they all have cursors. Maybe you should let people choose whether to use Move or not, that will probably be simpler. (Use some of that old logic). I would love to play it really, but I have no smartphone I always love originality so I suggest you go for custom story. Make up your own characters and storyline. Alright then! This would be an amazing remake! Hey my game takes a little inspiration from magika in the sense that some of the elements and attack types can be combined or countered... If thats the most amount of elements/attack types that are actually in magika than my game will have more! It already has 10 I wish you luck in recreating such a great game that will be perfect as a top down RPG! When I get LBP2, I'm also buying Playstation Move, so I'll be able to test the animations and you'll have another opinion to work with. About the top down, are you using Sacks, or your own made characters. If you use sacks, I think it would be a good idea to make the view 3rd person. (So from an angle. UPDATE. For those who are too lazy to read: Progress: 5%. Update 3th of July: Started Project Magicka. First prototype of Character and Cursor is done. Control cursor with left analog stick. Character automatically rotates to cursor and moves to him by pressing X. I care! It looks cool. Never played magicka, but the hud looks good. All the combinations make it sound really cool like I can play it 10 times and still see new combos. It will. What else do you have for us? You mean what I built or what I will work on? Well, progress is still 20%. However I need another creative head to complete it faster. Also, I made a decision: There will be two levels. One will be singleplayer and the other one Co-op with a built in arena you can choose to play in in the beginning. This is because of the HUD. I made it big, so it would suck to see two HUDs at the same time. I will shrink them in the Co-op game. I think I will continue building now. Also, thanks for the support CardboardBoxMan! Looks great so far, if you've done a tech demo, I'd like to check it out. Hi, at the moment it is impossible to do ANYTHING with move, because MM didn't release the movepack yet. But I will try to do it as soon as its released. However, I will work less on Magicka for now and focus more on another awesome project because its just darn much and I didn't release a level in LBP2 yet. If anyone wants to help I will come back to it, but its just too much for one person. I could do it, but it would take about 6 months lol. But if anyone cares, last thing I did was work on a Water + Life combination. It worked pretty good but still has some bugs.
