...Animal Crossing?

Archive: 17 posts

Hola guys

Was anyone ever into Animal Crossing? The game with the raccoon (supposedly he isn't but whatever) who took all your money and the owl and stuff? Yes, no, maybe so?

I was just wondering if there were any AC people out there...Somewhere. There's another one coming out where you're the mayor, which makes me think what happened to the turtle.

Bought the Gamecube one on import many years ago after several Nintendo magazines said how awesome it was.

It wasn't awesome at all :C

Still the bundled NES games were a novelty to play for a little while.

Hush and pishaw Rabid-Coot - Animal Crossing is Amazing!

What you need though is a bank of friends who also own the game - as it is more of a social game, than a traditional "gamers" game. We would be in intense competition for who had the best decorated house/character/villiage etc.

Isn't the new one coming out for the 3DS? I'm quite looking forward to that.

This was only like, one of my favourite GameCube games ever, alongside Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (which I only loved because of the chaos (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/62/ThreeChao.JPG))

I also loved the DS version, it was awesome how you could play with friends at the same time, me and two other friends once stayed up all night playing Animal Crossing: Wild World, doing things like playing it/tag. It was so cool to actually watch it get dark/light in-game. I was really excited about the Wii version too, living in a city instead of town sounded epic. Then I got it, it turned out you still live in the town, you could only go to the city by bus for a visit, and the city was tiny anyway. Huge disappointment, as the only new thing sucked.

I haven't heard much about the 3DS one (didn't even know you were the mayor this time, which sounds really cool), but I'm hoping it's got a lot more and isn't just the same game again. Although, I'm buying the Vita instead of the 3DS, so I suppose it doesn't affect me.

What transport will the new one use? GameCube was train, DS was taxi, Wii was bus, 3DS could be plane?

I only owned the GC version, but it was immensely fun while it lasted. I went for 2 years until I started getting a little bored of the repetition.
I love AC, and would love to buy another one, if I got the chance, but I can't stand the stunt Nintendo pulls with 'keeping things retro' or however they choose to word it. The GC versions graphical style was cute, because it was a port of a game never released outside Japan, (If I remember correctly.) but I'd expect that idea to end after the first. Since the GC version, it's felt like the same game re-released time and time again, with just a handful of extra features.
Like Pokemon, I guess.

But anyways, for what it was, it was great. I almost filled the entire museum, had the entire Modern furniture collection, and had more Bells than I knew what to do with. (I deposited a million bells, and all I got was this box of tissues?!)
I had a couple of friends playing, but not many. TBH, if the GC had online features, the game might've lasted me even longer.

Did anyone ever get a 3-tiered town? I know they exist, as I found one when I made a temporary alternative save file just so I could visit another town when my friends were no longer playing, but that was the only time I ever found one. Would've been awesome to have that as my actual town.

Yes!!

Yea it got really boring and that's the sad thing.. Especially if you're broke and don't know how to get any money (when I got it, I didn't know you could sell the things you catch.. dur)

I agree that the city was a let down. Its more of a condensed version of the town where things cost more. I think I remember my friend bragging about the 3-tiered thing but I didn't know it was a big deal. Now it would be really cool lol

It seems Nintendos on this super modern kick with the old franchises (like Pokemon..having an airport..) so I'm guessing a speed train. Jk I hope its a plane, that would be so cool but then you're town would have to have an airport which would be odd. If it didn't then landing a plane in the middle of a weird gorge would be really.. different.

The GC one lasted me two weeks before I got bored.
That's pretty darn good.
After that I only played it hoping I could collect all the NES games.

The DS one was only fun if someone else had it so I could bury pitfall traps all over their town.
But thought the dialog is more often funny in that one, especially the billboard.

I was into the DS one for a very long time.

Then I got Phantom's Hourglass.

Ah....the memories. the original for the 'cube was like crack for me and most of my family when it first came out. to the point that if it rained IRL you would hear someone go "all right! I can go fishing today! ......wait....."2011-06-27 02:41:00

This is the Animal Crossing thread, not SA2B and Animal Crossing, but... I lurved Sonic Adventure 2 Battle too. I had a 'Light chao' or whatever. The neutral immortal one.

Aaaaanyway...

Yeah, Animal Crossing on the Gamecube used to be one of my favourite games. Then so was Wild World, and then I was half-disappointed with City Folk, considering my town turned into a desert because I played so much, and the grass wore away. (I used homebrew to grow my grass back, but I couldn't be bothered to keep doing it)

That one summer 2 or 3 years ago, when I took my 2 month break from LBP, I was playing a lot of Animal Crossing. I even had an account on Animal Crossing Community. Missed the Online Create beta though because my code expired before I noticed I had it.

I also recently rediscovered the original Animal Crossing website (http://animal-crossing.com/create.jsp), and it has a melody maker and everything.

If you wanna make Sleepyhead as your town tune, here are the notes I used, which may not be perfect since it was by memory, but eh. Sounds close enough.

G - A G F - G F E F E D b - z z

The uppercase letters are the high notes, and lower case are the low notes.

Aaaah Thanks! I forgot all about that site and it used to be my backup entertainment when I couldn't play AC
It's weird they haven't updated it yet....

Could never really get into it, I hated that bit where he asks you to talk to everyone in town. Normal games would make it so you just have to talk to key characters, but this makes you talk to every single person. With no count on how many left or who you've already spoken too.2011-06-29 17:30:00

The Wii one lasted me only for a month until I went WTF? and quit

The main reason I got it was for the Wii speaker thing that came with the game

I was a good boy. As an old-skool RPG player, I know the importance of "ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE SWITCHING OFF", so I only ever saw Resetti the Mole once, when my DS ran out of batteries - he was cool about it becuase it was only the one time

They should totally make a Facebook Animal Crossing game.... it's DESIGNED for facebook!
