Allow snapshot of level at current state in play mode

[A.K.A] Gama save Sorry if this has been mentioned before (it is so obvious, it probably has been mentioned) Levels in LBP are getting increasingly complex, with many different game-types, which may provide hours of gameplay on a single level. If we had an option to "allow level snapshot", or better yet, have a gadget like level snapshot tool which can be activated by the player at allowed times, it can be used to save games that will provide persistence. What it would basically do is to save the level at the current state, to be continued from later. It would create a local cache of the level at the current state, only available for play mode. Each profile could be restricted to 10-20 saves of different levels to fight possible storage space load problems. | 2011-06-23 13:27:00 Author: hesido Posts: 166 |
This would be amazing. OR allow for a creator to create a custom save state system. Like a save game chip with tweakable options | 2011-06-23 13:50:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Why not just call it game save? | 2011-06-23 23:16:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
@Shadow: OK, I'm calling it game save LBP has the necessary code base to do this, I hope MM gives us this function. | 2011-06-24 07:59:00 Author: hesido Posts: 166 |
Well i would see that as extra global setting, in need to be off by default for compatibility reasons. | 2011-06-27 15:58:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
@shadow: Exactly my thoughts. Could be something along the lines of "allow level save / snapshot". It could also be a device that can be activated, which would then activate a LBP alertbox (to give control to the player by asking them if they want to make a save, without creators abusing the save system without player's knowing.) The advantage of a device would be letting the player save only at certain times, instead of allowing the snapshot at any given time. Btw, since I cannot message you as your inbox is full, I'd like to thank you for the feedback to my boulder dash level. After your feedback, I worked hard to change the graphics to match the original game. | 2011-06-27 17:03:00 Author: hesido Posts: 166 |
